Overview
This device is an Integrated Access Device (IAD) which combines high-
speed fiber optic (G-PON) Internet access, a built-in switch, and Voice
over IP (VoIP) technology to allow you to use an analog telephone to
make phone calls over the Internet.
In This Guide, You Will:
• Make the hardware connections to set up your device.
• Configure your Internet access using the software built into the
device. (In some regions these settings may already be
preconfigured by your ISP.)
• Configure your VoIP settings in order to make phone calls over the
Internet using an analog phone.

Hardware Connections
1. PON: Connect the fiber optic cable from your ISP to this port.
2. ETHERNET: Use an Ethernet cable to connect a computer to one of
these ports for initial configuration and/or Internet access.
3. PHONE: Use a telephone cable (and any telephone adapter provided
with your device) to connect your telephone to the PHONE 1 port.
4. POWER: Use the power adapter provided with your device to connect
an appropriate power source to this socket.
5. Push the power switch to the on position.

Look at the LEDs (lights) on the top panel of the device.
• The POWER light blinks during start-up and is green once the
device is ready. If it turns red, then that means there has been a
failure during the start up routine.
• Each ETHERNET light turns on if its corresponding port is properly
connected to a computer. The lights blink when the device is
sending or receiving data through the corresponding port.
• The PON light stays on if a physical fiber optic connection exists
and blinks when transmitting data. If it is off, then it means the
device cannot connect to the ISP or an error has occured.
• The PHONE lights stay on when your SIP account is registered and
they blink if the receiver is off the hook.
The Web Configurator
The Web Configurator allows you to set up your device so that you
access the Internet or place VoIP phone calls.
1. Open your browser and enter http://192.168.1.1 (the device's default
IP address) as the address.

2. Enter the user name admin (default) and Password, then click the
Login button.
If the login screen does not display, make sure you allow web
browser pop-up windows, JavaScript and Java permissions. Your
computer should be also set to get an IP address automatically from
a DHCP server. See the User’s Guide for more information.
Internet Setup
This section shows you how to configure your device’s connection
settings so that you can access the Internet.
Be sure to use any connection settings provided by your ISP. This
includes user name, password, IP address, and DNS server.
1. Log into the Web Configurator as described in the previous section.

2. When the Status screen displays, expand the Network menu in the
navigation pane and then click WAN.
3. When the Internet Access Setup screen displays, select an
Encapsulation method.
If you choose PPPoE encapsulation, then you must enter a User
Name and Password. The Service Name is optional, but usually
corresponds to the name of the ISP for easy reference later.

If you choose IP encapsulation, then you must enter a method for
obtaining an IP address on your device. Choose Obtain an IP
address automatically if your ISP dynamically assigns IP addresses
with a DHCP server.
Otherwise, choose Static IP Address and enter the information as
provided by your ISP.
4. If your ISP uses one or more DNS servers, enter their IP addresses.
5. Finally, click Apply to save your changes.

VoIP Setup
This section shows you how to configure your Voice over IP (VoIP)
settings so that you can place calls over the Internet. When you make
Internet phone calls, your device utilizes a protocol known as ‘SIP’.
Be sure to use any connection settings that may have been provided by
your VoIP service provider. This includes SIP number, SIP Server
Address, and SIP username and password.
1. Log into the Web Configurator as described in the previous section.
2. When the Status screen displays, expand the VoIP menu in the
navigation pane and then click SIP.
3. On the SIP Service Provider screen, enter a SIP Service Provider
Name in the space provided.

4. Select Active, then enter the following information as it was provided
by your VoIP service provider:
• SIP Local Port - This is the “listening” port to which incoming call
requests are received.
• SIP Server Address - This is the IP address or domain name of
the SIP server.
• SIP Server Port - This is the “listening” port on the SIP server to
which outgoing calls are sent.
• REGISTER Server Address - This is the IP address or domain
name of the SIP account registration server. If your VoIP service
provider did not give you this information then you can use the
SIP server address.
• REGISTER Server Port - This is the SIP register server’s
“listening” port to which registration requests are sent. If your
VoIP service provider did not give you this information then you
can use the SIP server port number.
• SIP Service Domain - This is a domain name used by the SIP
service. If your VoIP service provider listed the full SIP address,
then it is the portion after the “@” symbol. For example, if you
were given a SIP service domain of “112233445566@voip-
provider.com” then the value you put in this field would be “voip-
provider.com”.
