1. UsingtheEthernet cable,connectthe ETHERNET porttoacomputer
forinitial configuration.
2. Connectthe POWER 12VDC sockettoapowersourceusingonlythe
included poweradaptor.
Connectthe NWA1100-N s ETHERNET port toan Ethernetjackwithnetwork
accessafteryouhavecompleted the initialconfiguration.

LEDs
•The SYS LEDblinks red,then turnssteadygreen when thepoweris
connected.
•OneoftheLEDsbythe ETHERNET port turnsoniftheportis
properlyconnected,andblinkswhen thereistraffic. The yellowlight
shinesiftheconnection isat1000 Mbps.Thegreen light shinesif
theconnection isat 10/100Mbps.
# If neitherLED nearthe ETHERNET port turnson, checkthe cable
connectionstotheport. Ensureyourcomputer snetworkcardisworking
properly.
Access theWebConfigurator
InternetExplorer6.0and laterversions,withJavaScriptenabled,orMozillaFirefox
3and laterversionsorSafari2.0and laterversions.
SetUpYourComputer sIPAddress
Notedownyourcomputer scurrentIPsettingsbeforeyou change them.

First, setyourcomputertouseastaticIPaddress inthe192.168.1.3-
192.168.1.254rangewithasubnetmaskof 255.255.255.0. Thisensures
thatyourcomputercan communicatewithyourNWA1100-N.See your
User sGuideforinformation on settingupyourcomputer sIPaddress.
Log IntotheWebConfigurator
Even though you can connecttothe NWA1100-Nwirelessly,it isrecommended
thatyou connect yourcomputertothe ETHERNET port forinitialconfiguration.
1. Launchyourwebbrowser.Enter
192.168.1.2 (the NWA1100-Ns
default IPaddress)asthe
address.
# If you cannotaccessthe Web configurator,makesurethe IPaddressesand
subnet masksof the NWA1100-N and thecomputerareinthe same IP
addressrange.
2.Enter admin (the default
username)inthe Username field
and 1234 (thedefaultpassword)in
the Password field.Click Login.
3.Change the loginpasswordby
entering anew passwordand
clicking Apply. Besuretorecord
the new passwordand keepit ina
safeplace.
# If you change the passwordand thenforget it,you willneed toreset the
NWA1100-N. Refertothe User sGuide forhow tousethe RESET button.

4.The STATUS screen appears.

ConfigureSystemSettings
1. Click SYSTEM in thenavigation panel.
2. The SYSTEM>General screen appears.
•SystemName isforidentifying theNWA1100-Non yournetwork.
Chooseadistinctivename,orleavethisatitsdefault.

•You can configuretheEthernetport speed andduplexin the
EthernetDataRatefield. If you arenot sure,select Auto .
3. Click Apply.
ConfigureWirelessSettings
1. Click WIRELESS inthenavigation panel.The WirelessSettings
screen displays. Configurethebasicsettingsforyourwireless
network.
The wirelessstationsand the NWA1100-Nmust usethe sameSSID, channelID
and encryption settingsforwirelesscommunication.
•OperationMode: Ensurethat AccessPoint modeisselected.

•Wireless Mode: Select thewirelessstandardyou want your
networktouse.If you arenotsurewhichtoselect, select 802.11b/
g/n.
•SSIDProfile: Select theSSIDprofileyou wanttoconfigurefor
networkaccessfromthedrop-downlist box.
•Channel: Select thewirelesschannel you want yournetworkto
use.
•ChannelWidth: Select thechannel bandwidthyou want touse.If
you arenot sure, select 20/40MHz.
2. Click Apply tosaveyoursettings.
3. Click the SSID tab.If you want toconfigureadvanced settingsofan
SSIDprofile(suchaschangethe profilename, SSID,orsecurity),
selectitand click Edit.

4. Click the Security tab. Select theprofileyou wanttoconfigureand
click Edit.
5. Theedit screen oftheselected securityprofileappears. If you don t
configurewirelesssecurity,anyonecan access yournetwork.
•Thisiswhereyou can enterthesecuritysettingsforyourwireless
network.The fieldsyoufillindifferaccordingtothe type ofsecurity
you select in the SecurityMode field.Select None if youdo not
wishtousewirelesssecurity.
•Thisexampleuses WPA2-PSK security, in whichall wirelessclients
mustusethesamepre-shared keytojointhenetwork.
•Ensurethatall yourwirelessclientssupport thetype of securityyou
set. Click Apply when you havefinished.
# If the wirelessclientscannotcommunicatewiththe network, ensurethat the
clientsand the NWA1100-Nareusing the same wirelesssecuritysettings.
