SYSTEM OVERVIEW
Thissystemprovidesthree(3)formsofprotection:burglary,fire,andemergency,depending
ontheoptionssetbyyourinstaller.ThesystemconsistsoftheControlPanelwithacolor
touchscreen,wirelesssensorsthatprovideperimeterandinteriorburglaryprotection,and
wirelesssmokeandcarbonmonoxidedetectors.Inaddition,optionalremotecontrolkeyfobs,
wirelesspanicbuttonsandkeypadsmayhavebeenprovidedorinstalled.
Thesystemmonitorsallprotection“zones”andthesystem’sstatus.TheControlPaneldisplays
monitoringinformationandcontrolsthealarmsiren.Yoursystemmayalsohavebeensetup
tosendalarmandstatusreportstoaCentralStationandhasthecapabilityfor2‐wayvoice
communicationswiththealarmmonitoringoperator.
FEATURES
Followingisalistofstandardfeaturesandoptionsthatcanbeincludedinyoursystem.Ask
yourinstallerwhichoptionsareavailabletoyouandchecktheboxesthatapply.
•StayandAwayarmingmodes:Staymodearmsthesystemperimeteronlyandisused
typicallyatnightwhenthepremisesareoccupied.Awaymodearmsthesystemperimeter
andinterior;it’susedwhenthepremisesareunoccupied.
•32user‐unique4‐digitcodestooperatethesystem:Thesystemsupportsone(1)master
usercodethatcanassignandmaintaintheotherusercodes.
•Oneofthe32usercodesfunctionsasaduresscode.Controllingthesystemwiththiscode
givestheappearanceofnormaloperation,butusingitsendsasilentduressreporttothe
CentralStationtoinitiateasilentalarmcallforhelp.
•VoiceannouncementsfromtheControlPanel:Thesystemhasavocabularyofdescriptive
wordsthatcanbeassignedtosensorssoeachhasauniqueannouncementsuchas“front
door”or“bedroomwindow”ifdesired.
•Homeautomationwiththebuilt‐inZ‐WavecontrollerforremotecontrollingZ‐Wave
enabledhomeappliances(optionalfeature).
•Alarmhistorywithsystemeventlog:Eachalarmandsystemalertisloggedintothe
system’smemory.TheseeventscanbedisplayedandreviewedattheControlPanelor
remotelybytheCentralStation.
•Realtimeclockandcalendarshowsonthesystem’sdisplayandisusedtotimestamp
itemsintheeventlog.
2‐wayvoicecommunication:Afteranalarm,thesystemcanautomaticallyconnectwitha
CentralStationoperatorsotheycanconversewithpeopleinthepremises.

Threeoptional24‐houremergencyfunctions:Panic,Fire,andEmergency.Thesefunctions
canbeactivatedbybuttonsontheControlPanel,usingwirelesssensors,fromthe
wirelesskeypad,orfromportablependantdevices(suchasthepanicbuttonremote).

BASIC OPERATION

Sensor Types/Zones
Thesystem’swirelesssensorshavebeen
assignedtoselected“types”(oftencalled
“zones”).Thesensortypedetermineshow
andwhenthesystemwillreacttoasignal
fromthesensor.Somesensorsarearmed24
hoursaday,othersensorsareonlyarmed
whenthesystemisarmed.
Smoke, Heat, and Freeze
Protection
Ifwirelesssmoke,heatandfreezedetectors
havebeeninstalledinyoursystem,theyare
armed24hours‐a‐day,Theywillsoundan
alarmwhensmokeisdetectedandcan
reportthefirealarmtotheCentralStation.

Burglary Protection
Burglaryprotectionisprovidedbyperimeter
andinteriorsensors.Whenthesystemis
armedintheAwaymode,bothperimeter
andinteriorsensorsarearmedandcan
triggeranalarm.Whenthesystemisarmed
intheStaymode,onlytheperimetersensors
arearmedandcantriggeranalarm.
BotharmingmodesofferanExitDelaythat
allowstimetoexitthepremiseswithout
triggeringthealarm.Uponre‐entry,anEntry
Delayisenabledthatallowsyoutimeto
disarmthesystem.
Youcansetsensorstosoundachimeand/or
avoiceannouncementwhentheyare
triggered.Soyoucanmonitoryourdoors
andwindowswhilethesystemisdisarmed.

User Codes
Thesysteminstallerhasalready
programmedamasterusercodeforyour
system.Thiscodecanbeusedtocontrolthe
systemaswellasassignandchangethe
otherusercodes.Themasterusercodecan
alsoaccessseveralsystemsetupsettingsin
theUserToolbox.
Alarms
Whenanalarmoccurs,theControlPanel’s
sirenandanexternalsiren(ifinstalled)
soundsforapresettime.Duringalarmsand
afterdisarming,thealarmhistorybutton
displaysallthealarmsthathaveoccurred,
andwhichsensorswereinvolved.Thealarm
historyclearsthenexttimethesystemis
armedorcanbeclearedmanually.
Messages
Yoursecuritysystemsupportsreceiving
messagesfromtheCentralStation.The
messagescanbeaboutsystemupgrades,
additionalservices,specialregionalweather
alerts,etc.
Trouble Alerts
Thesystemmonitorsitselfforabnormal
operatingconditionsandwillalertyouif
troubleisdetected.Troubleconditionscan
bereportedtotheCentralStation.
Wireless Sensors
Yoursecuritysystemcomeswithwireless
sensors.Somesensorsarevisible,others
maybehiddenbydoorjambsorwherethe
sensorismounted.Dependingonyourtype

BURGLARY PROTECTION
Whenyoursystemwassetupbyyourinstaller,wirelesssensorswereplacedtomonitor
specificdoorsandwindows.Theinstallerselectedthesedoorsandwindowsaslikelyplaces
whereanunlawfulintrusionmightoccurandcouldbedetected.Eachsensorwas
programmedtohavethesystemreactinaspecificway.See“InstallerProgrammedOptions”
onpage41forspecificsabouteachsensor.
Somesensortypessuchassmokedetectors,carbonmonoxidedetectors,panicbuttons,etc.
arealwaysactiveandcantriggeranalarmatanytime.Othersensorsonprotecteddoorsand
windowsarepartoftheburglaryprotectionpartofthesystem,andcanbeturnedonoroff.
Turningontheburglaryprotectionpartofthesecuritysystemiscalled“ArmingtheSystem”.
Theburglaryprotectionpartofthesystemcanbearmedintwomodes:StaymodeorAway
mode.

SENSOR STATUS
Thesecuritysystemconstantlymonitorsallofthesensorsattachedtotheprotecteddoors
andwindowsinyourhomeorbusiness.TheControlPanelknowsifeachdoororwindowwith
sensorsisopenorclosed.Theopenorclosedconditionoftheprotecteddoorsandwindowsis
calledthesensorstatus.
Formaximumsecurity,allthedoorsandwindowsonyourpremisesshouldbeclosedwhen
youleavethebuilding.Insomecases,suchaswhenusingthesecuritysystemwhenyoustay
athome,youmaywanttoleavesomedoorsorwindowsopen.Thesystemrecognizes
bypassestoresolvetheopendoorsorwindows.See"Bypassing/Un‐BypassingSensors"on
page10.
NOTE: Beforeyoucanarmthesystem,youmustcloseorbypassalldoorsandwindows
withsensors.
CHECKING FOR CLOSED SENSORS
Inmostcases,youwillbearmingthesecuritysystemwithallofthesensor‐protecteddoors
andwindowsclosed.TheControlPanelprovideseasywaystoverifythatallthesensor‐
protecteddoorsandwindowsareclosedbeforearmingthesystem:
•TheHomebuttonlightsgreenwhenallperimetersensorsareclosed.The Home
buttonisnotlitifanyperimetersensorisopen.Openinteriorsensorsdonotchangethis
indication.
•TheSecuritybuttononthedisplay’sHomescreenlightsgreenwhenallperimetersensors
areclosed.TheSecuritybuttonislitorangeifanyperimetersensorisopen.Openinterior
sensorsdonotchangethisindication.
•TheArmbuttononthedisplay’sSecurityscreenandMenuscreenlightsgreenwhenall
perimetersensorsareclosed.Ifanyinteriorsensorsareopen(orwhenanymotion
detectoristriggered),ahouseiconisdisplayedonthestatusbar.TheArmbuttonislit
orangeifanyperimetersensorisopen.

DEALING WITH A SENSOR FALSE ALARM
TheControlPanelreportsalarmconditionsonallsensorswhenarmedbothvisually(onthe
statusbar,andthroughasystemalerticon)andaudibly(throughvoiceandchime
announcements).Therearetimes,thoughrare,thatansensorwillsendanalarmconditionto
theControlPanelwhennoalarmexists.Theconditionsofafalsealarmvarydependingonthe
typeofsensorandhowthatsensorcommunicateswiththeControlPanel.

SENSOR BYPASSING
Beforethesystemcanbearmed,all
protecteddoorsandwindowsmustbe
closedorbypassed.Youcanbypassopen
sensorsonprotecteddoorsorwindows
beforearmingthesystem.Whenasensoris
bypassed,thesystemignoresthatthedoor
orwindowisopen.Therearetwotypesof
sensorbypassesavailable:
•Forced
•Manual
Insomecases(suchaswhenusingthe
securitysystemforprotectionwhenstaying
athome)itmaybedesirabletoleavesome
sensor‐protecteddoorsorwindowsopen.
Temporari ly bypassingasensorforthisuseis
calledForceBypassing.
NOTE: Forcebypassesare
automaticallyremovedwhenthe
systemisdisarmed.
Sensorbypassingisalsosometimesused
whenasensorisrequiringservice.Asensor’s
magnetmightbemissing,oranexternal
switchcontactconnectedtoasensormight
befaulty,causingthesensortobedetected
asopenbytheControlPanel.Inthese
conditions,youmayneedtoschedulea
servicecallwithyourqualifiedalarmservice
techniciantorepairorreplacethetroubled
sensor.Ifthesecuritysystemneedstobe
armedbeforethesensorcanbeserviced,
thesensorcanbemanuallybypassedsothe
restofthesystemcanbearmed.Depending
onprogramming,manualbypassescan
remaininplaceuntiltheyaremanually
removed.
NOTE: Bypassedsensorsofferno
protectionandcannotcausean
alarm.Usebypassifyouwantto
armyoursystemwithoneormore
sensorsopenandintentionally
unprotected.
Force Bypass All Sensors
Ifanysensorsareopenwhenthesystemis
disarmed,theArmbuttononthepanelturns
YELLOW.WhenyoutaptheArmbutton,the
systemautomaticallyrevealstheBypass
screenwhichletsyouarmthesystemwhile
forcingittobypassallopensensors.
Toforcebypassallopensensors:
1Ensureasensorisopen,suchasadoor
orwindow.
2AttheSecurityorMenuscreen,tapthe
YELLOWArmbutton.
3AttheBypassscreen,tapBypassAll.
Thisforcesthesystemtobypassallof
theopensensorsinthelist,including
anyopeninteriorsensors.
4AttheEnterCodescreen,enteravalid
usercodetobypassthesensor.
NOTE: TheQuickBypassfeaturecan
alsobeconfiguredbytheinstaller.

STAY MODE
UseStaymodetopartiallyarmthesystem
whenindividualswillbeoccupyingthe
premises.Thisarmsonlythesensor‐
protectedperimeterdoorsandwindows.It
leavesinteriormotionsensorsorother
interiordoorsunarmed.Inahomesetting,
Staymodeistypicallyusedduringthe
eveninghourswhenoccupantsarenolonger
expectedtoleaveorenterthepremises.This
allowsoccupantstomoveaboutthe
premiseswithouttriggeringtheburglary
alarm.Becausealltheinteriorburglary
protectionisOFF,analarmwouldonlybe
triggeredwhenasensor‐protected
perimeterdoororwindowisopened.
Entry Delay in Stay Mode

AWAY MODE
Awaymodeisforarmingthesystemwhen
everyoneisleavingthepremises.Away
modearmsallsensor‐protectedperimeter
doorsandwindows,interiormotionsensors,
interiorglassbreaksensors,andanyother
sensor‐protectedinteriordoors.The
premisesmustbeunoccupiedwhilethe
systemisarmed.Awaymodeistypically
usedforarmingthesystemduringthe
daytimehoursinaresidentiallocation,and
non‐businesshoursinacommerciallocation.
WhenthesystemisarmedinAwaymode,
youcannotmoveaboutthepremises
withouttriggeringtheburglaryalarm(ifthe
systemisinstalledwithinteriormotion
detectors).Analarmalsooccursifany
sensor‐protecteddoororwindowisopened
orglassbreakageisdetected(ifglass
breakagedetectorsareinstalledinyour
system).
Exit and Entry Delays in Away
mode
Certainsensors,suchasadoor,canbesetup
byyourinstallertohaveadelaybefore
triggeringanalarm.Thisprovidesawayfor
anauthorizedpersontoexitandreenterthe
premiseswithouttriggeringanalarm.
•ExitDelayallowstimetoleaveafter
armingthesystem.
•EntryDelayallowstimetoenterand
disarmthesystembeforeanalarmis
triggered.
Whenarmingthesystemin
Awaymode,anEntryDelay
checkboxisshownonthe
Armingscreen.Bydefault,
thisoptionischecked,sothe
programmeddelaydoorsallowtimefor
disarmingthesystemafterthedooris
opened.Ifyouun‐checkthisbox,the
delayedalarmtriggerisremovedfromall
sensor‐protecteddoorsprogrammedfor
delay.Thoseentrancesinstantlytriggeran
alarmiftheyareopenedinAwaymode.
NOTE: WiththeEntryDelaydisabled,
youmustremotelydisarmthe
systemwithawirelesskeyfob
beforeentering.
Exit Delay Restart
TheExitDelayRestartoptionextendsthe
ExitDelayonetimeifyouneedtore‐enter
thepremises.WiththeExitDelayRestart
option,whenyoure‐enterthepremises
afteryouhaveleft,butbeforetheExitDelay
timerexpires,willrestarttheExitDelay
timer,givingyouthefulllengthoftimeto
leaveagain.
TIP: TheExitDelayRestartoptiononlyworks
once,eachtimethesystemisarmed.
Silent Control in Away Mode
Threeoptionsforsilencingthebeepsand
announcementsareavailablewhenarming
ordisarmingthesysteminAwaymode.

validusercode.Awirelesskeyfobcanalso
beusedtodisarmthesystem.Enteringa
usercodeisnotrequiredwhendisarming
withawirelesskeyfob.
AnimportantfeatureoftheControlPanelis
itsabilitytowarnyouifanalarmhas
occurredwhileyouwereaway.Ifanalarm
wastriggeredwhilethesystemwasarmed,
thealarmsirenrunsforapresetlengthof
timethenstops.Whenyouentertodisarm
thesystem,insteadofsoundingthenormal

disarmthesystem,ifyouhear

Afterthetimeexpires,thesirenwillstop
sounding.
Thesystemlimitsthenumberoftimesa
sensorcanre‐triggeranalarmwhilethe
systemisarmed.Thesettingisonetosix
timespersensor,perarmingperiod(see
"InstallerProgrammedOptions"onpage41).
Alarm Memory
Ifanalarmhasoccurredwhilethesystem
wasarmed,theDisarmscreenshowsthe
timeanddateofthealarmandthesensor(s)
thattriggeredthealarm.
Afterthesystemisdisarmed,theAlarm
Memoryscreenappears.TheAlarmMemory
screenshowsthesensor(s)thathavecaused
thealarm.Ifmorethanonesensorhasbeen
triggered,thedisplayshowstheorderin
whichthealarmsoccurred.
Thealarmmemoryautomaticallyclearsthe
nexttimethesystemisarmed.Youcanalso
checktheClearAlarmHistorybuttonand
tapOktomanuallyclearthealarmmemory
(24‐hourfireandCOsensorsthatarestill
violatedremaininalarmmemory).
