Warranty Information
Product Use: Many factors beyond 3M’s control and uniquely within user’s knowledge and
control can affect the use and performance of a 3M product in a particular application Given
the variety of factors that can affect the use and performance of a 3M product, user is solely
responsible for evaluating the 3M product and determining whether it is fit for a particular
purpose and suitable for user’s method of application.
Warranty, Limited Remedy, and Disclaimer: Unless a different warranty is specifically
stated on the applicable 3M product packaging or product literature, terms of sale or software
license agreement, 3M warrants that the 3M product will be free from substantial defects in
material and workmanship under normal use and service, wear and tear excepted, for two (2)
years from the original date of purchase, and (ii) for software products, for ninety (90) days
from the original date of purchase, the software will materially perform the functions
described in the accompanying documentation. 3M MAKES NO OTHER WARRANTIES
OR CONDITIONS, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY
IMPLIED WARRANTY OR CONDITION OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A
PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OR CONDITION ARISING
OUT OF A COURSE OF DEALING, CUSTOM OR USAGE OF TRADE. If the 3M product
does not conform to this warranty, then the sole and exclusive remedy is, at 3M’s option, to
replace or repair any defective part or parts.

E-Switch Kit Overview
E-Switch Kit Overview
This document describes how to install and wire the new E-Switch PV8 anti-vandal push-
button switches on the front door of the Lane Pay Station as well as how to update the Lane
Pay Station labels.
Note: Damage to equipment that occurs as a result of performing maintenance or repairs while
power is ON is not covered by the warranty.
Note: Before performing any equipment maintenance or repair, refer to the equipment
operation and maintenance manuals.
Kit Contents
The Lane Pay Station E-Switch Kit includes:
■(1) Switch, Push-button, Anti-Vandal, Red Ring, 24V (E-Switch PV8F2Y1SS-315)
■(2) Switch, Push-button, Anti-Vandal, Green Ring, 24V (E-Switch PV8F2Y1SS-335)
■(1) Cable, PIL, E-Switch Push-button Power
■(1) Cable, PIL, E-Switch Push-button I/O
■(3) Cable, PIL, E-Switch Push-button Jumper
■Labels, PIL, Standard

You will need the following tools to complete this process:
■Multi-diameter step drill bit with largest diameter = 1.00". Suggested step drill bits to
use include McMaster-Carr P/N 8841A33 or Irwin P/N 10220.
Before performing any equipment maintenance or repair, set the equipment
power to OFF, set the main circuit breaker to OFF, and lockout and tag the
main circuit breaker; failure to follow this warning can result in injury or
death to personnel and damage to equipment.

It is important that the largest diameter of the step drill is 1.00" and that it
passes cleanly through the hole, leaving a squared-off hole (Figure 1.1).

Installing the E-Switch Kit
To install the E-Switch kit:
1. Disconnect the Lane Pay Station from the power source.
2. Using the step drill bit, expand the existing button holes to exactly 1.00".
Note: It is important that the largest diameter of the step drill bit (1.00") passes cleanly
through the hole, leaving a squared-off hole (Figure 1.1).

3. Apply a black ring label round each button hole (Figure 1.2). For a professional look,
make sure to center the ring around the button hole!

4. Install the rubber o-ring (included) onto the shaft of the button; snug the o-ring up under
the flange (Figure 1.3). Repeat this step for all buttons.

5. Install the buttons into the holes in the door that you drilled in step 2, securing each button
with the large hex nut (included).
a. Locate the color-coded dot on the back of the button. Refer to Figure 1.6 on page 8.
b. As viewed from the back of the device door, install the buttons so that the button with
the red dot is located in the far right position, and the buttons with the green dots are in
the middle and left positions (Figure 1.4).
Note: When the buttons are installed, a red or green colored ring will light around the
button, as shown in Figure 1.4.

6. Connect the five kit cables to the buttons. Refer to Figure 1.5 on page 7, Figure 1.6 on
page 8, and Table 1.1 on page 8.

7. Complete the PC Board connections (Figure 1.7 on page 9).
a. Move the BUTTONS connector from Recp 14 to J3 (positions 4 - 7).
b. Move the SECURITY connector from Recp 13 to J3 (positions 8 - 12).

8. Connect the Lane Pay Station to the power source.
9. Verify that each button ring is illuminated.
10. Press each button and verify that the ring is not illuminated when the button is pressed.
Note: If the button illumination does not function as described in the previous two steps,
verify the button installation against these instructions.
11. Configure the Input Configuration Options:
a. On the PowerPad interface, select Program System Pref Config Options
Input.
b. Modify the programming to reflect the values shown in Table 1.2 on page 9.

12. Apply the button labels under the appropriate buttons, according to the button’s designated
function (Figure 1.8).
Note: To ensure a professional appearance, snug the button label up to the bottom of the
ring label, ensuring that the label is centered under the button and ring label.

13. Apply the remaining Lane Pay Station labels to the device. Refer to Figure 1.9 for the
appropriate label locations.
