Making a Test Call
1. In order of priority, dial friend’s telephone number
then press # to accept.
– Include area code, 1 for long distance, or 9 for
outside line as-needed.
2. Repeat for numbers 2, 3, and 4.
– Press # at any time to skip entering additional
numbers. Hang up when complete.
3. Exit Learn Mode by moving slider to “Friends Only”.
1. Insert 4 AA batteries into Base Unit as shown on
device.
2. Charge unused Pendant battery in front of Base
Unit as shown.
3. Insert battery into Pendant as shown.
1. Connect Base Unit to power outlet.
2. Connect Base Unit to telephone wall jack.
3. Connect existing telephone to Base Unit.
1. To avoid dialing 911 during the test, move mode
switch on Base Unit to “Friends Only” position.
2. Press and Hold Blue button on Pendant for 2
seconds.
The Base Unit will dial Friend #1. If the call is
answered, use the pendant to speak, holding it like a
traditional phone.
3. Press and Release Gray button on Pendant to hang
up.
Enter Learn Mode
1. Dial any outside line to establish a connection.
– A personal mobile phone number is best. If you
call a friend, tell them to stay on the line while
Responsable is being programmed.
– This step ensures that the device does not
attempt to dial each number as you program it.
2. Move mode switch on Base Unit to Learn position.
3. Enter programming code: 1234 then #.

Calling Out for Help
Answering an Incoming Call
1. To hang up, Press and Release the Gray button one
time.
2. The recipient can also end the call by pressing 9
on their keypad (this is the preferred method) or by
simply hanging up.
– When the recipient hangs up without pressing
9, Responsable will emit a tone for several
seconds until the line is deemed inactive before
eventually hanging up automatically.
To answer an incoming call, Press and Release the
Pendant’s Blue button one time.
1. To call for help, Press and Hold the Pendant’s Blue
button for 2 seconds.
– Responsable will dial the emergency number(s)
based on the calling mode selected.
2. Hold the Pendant close to your mouth like a
traditional phone while speaking.
Note: Each emergency call made with Responsable
must be “acknowledged” by the recipient. To do this,
Responsable will prompt the recipient to press 5 on
their keypad.
If the first contact in your list does not answer or
acknowledge your call, Responsable will automatically
dial the next number programmed.
Depending on the calling mode selected, Responsable
can dial 911 if none of your emergency contacts
answer or acknowledge your call.
Use the slider switch on base unit to select mode of
operation:
• Learn Mode – Used for programming telephone
numbers into memory.
• Friends & 911 – Responsable dials all Friends, in
order entered until call is accepted. If not accepted,
Responsable dials 911.
• Friends Only - Responsable dials all Friends, in
order entered until call is accepted. If not accepted,
Responsable hangs up.
• 911 Only – Responsable dials 911.
