Safety Precautions
Laser Precautions
Warning: The laser light used to transmit information over optical ber cables can cause severe eye
damage. Because this light is invisible, it will not cause the iris of the eye to contract involuntarily as when
viewing a bright visible light, and no pain is felt as the retina is burned.
Never look into the end of a ber or connector which may have a laser coupled to it. Should accidental
eye exposure to laser light be suspected, arrange for an eye examination immediately.
General Precautions
Personnel must be thoroughly familiarized with all applicable Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S)
regulations, local regulations, and your company safety practices and policies.
Warning: To reduce the chance of accidental injury:
Before work begins, all personnel must be thoroughly familiar with the operation of all equipment
and procedures to be used during the installation.
Before use, all equipment, especially safety gear, must be inspected and tested for proper operation.
Replace and repair as necessary.

Panel Mounting
Remove the cable clamp (04) using a screwdriver.

Remove the shipping bracket side xing bolts
using a socket wrench.

Remove the panel (01) from the packing crate.

Remove the four shipping bracket xing bolts
using a socket wrench and a screwdriver.

Insert the remaining cage nut screws (06) using
a screwdriver.

Mount the panel (01) onto the rack and
tighten the cage nut screws (06) using a
screwdriver.

Partially tighten the cage nut screws (06) in the
positions shown (left- and right-hand side) using
a screwdriver.

Panel Mounting
Insert the cage nuts (06), in positions shown
above, on both the left and right hand sides of
the rack.

Panel Mounting
Re-attach the cable clamp (04) using a
screwdriver.

Mount the door (03) onto the panel (01).

Cable Installation
Slide the conduit (08) over the cable sub-units /
ber bundles.

Strip the cable jacket in accordance with the
cable manufacturer’s guidelines.

Clamp the cable and tighten using a socket
wrench (allowing a min. of 2m for jacket
stripping).

Open the rear panel and remove the bottom
side panel with a screwdriver.

Cable Installation
Remove the splice tray cover.

Feed the conduit (08) into the panel and clip it into the conduit clamp.

Close the back panel and re-t the side cover
using a screwdriver.

Remove the knockout section from the side
cover using pliers.

Route the incoming ber (BLUE) as per the image above - store up to 1.5m of 144f ribbon ber. Factory-installed
ribbon pigtail ber shown in GREEN.Splice according to the splice schedule.
