Thank you for purchasing an AFX helmet. Your AFX helmet was designed
for years of comfortable use. If you follow the advice here you should be
able to get the most enjoyment out of you new helmet.
Before using your new helmet, please take a moment to read the
following instructions for its use and care. Failure to read and
understand the contents of this owner’s manual and its associated
warnings could result in the helmet not protecting you in case of an
accident.
IMPORTANT
WEARING YOUR AFX HELMET
While no helmet can protect the user against all possible forms of
impact, the following safety instructions will help you get the maximum
benet and protection from your helmet.
1. To protect you as it is designed to do, your helmet must be the correct
tted size; too big or too small may not be safe. A properly tted helmet,
with the chinstrap fastened securely, will have a snug but comfortable
t. You will feel an even pressure all over your head, with no gaps. The
helmet must not be so loose that it can rotate freely front or back so that
it could be removed with the chinstrap fastened.
2. The chinstrap must be securely fastened at all times do not ride with
the chinstrap not fastened correctly. Make sure it remains snug at all
times, except when you take it off of course.
3. Do not modify your helmet in any way and never attach anything
to your helmet with screws or any type of adhesive. To preserve the
integrity and effectiveness of your helmet, do not alter its internal or
external structure in any way.

A helmet will only protect you if you wear it. So please remember to put
it on your head before you ride. If you feel wind in your hair (or what’s left
of your hair) you may have forgotten to put your helmet on. Please stop
riding immediately and put your helmet on. Further, the helmet must t
properly and be securely fastened on your head.

parts or to replace owner serviceable parts on the helmet.

MAKE NO MODIFICATIONS TO THE HELMET. To maintain the full effectiveness
of this helmet, there should be no alteration to any parts of the internal
or external structure of this helmet or any it’s associated component
parts. Many types of Paints and adhesives may damage and render
your helmet ineffective, without the damage being visible to the user. So
don’t paint and stick anything to your helmet please.

HELMETS SIZING CHART

Determine the circumference of the widest part of your head by using
a exible tape measure. Generally, the widest part of a person’s head
is the area 2.5cm (1”) above the eyes and ears. However, we suggest
measuring at a few points both above and below that line to determine
the greatest measurement before referring to our size tables. We also
suggest testing the t of a helmet one size smaller and one size larger
then what the chart recommends. No helmet can provide protection if
it’s too uncomfortable to wear.
Helmets must fit snugly, but not painfully tight. While holding the
chinstraps outside of the helmet, pull it down over your head, taking
care that the chinstraps do not go up inside the helmet. A proper-tting
helmet will feel snug with fairly even pressure around the sides and top
of your head. On most modern helmets the liner is designed to be a little
extra snug at rst, but will break-in after several hours of riding to match
the particular shape of your head.

HEAD MEASUREMENT

If you are not familiar with how a helmet should t and feel, be sure
to ask for assistance from a more experienced rider, or the retail store
where you purchased your helmet. As a rule, the helmet should not be
able to move around on your head without pulling on your skin. A loose
tting helmet is not only dangerous, but may also be noisy and tiring
to wear. Most people make the mistake of buying a helmet that’s too
large. IMPORTANT: Make sure that you fasten the chinstrap securely
beneath your chin when trying-on a helmet and then test to see that
the helmet cannot be removed from your head when fastened in that
manner. The helmet must not be so loose that it can rotate freely front or
back so that it could be removed with the chinstrap fastened
No helmet can protect the wearer against all possible or foreseeable
impacts. A helmet can only protect the portion of the head that is
covered by the helmet. For maximum protection, the helmet must be
well tted with the chinstrap securely fastened. Failure to follow these
instructions, the instructions printed on the helmet, and those contained
in the owner’s manual may result in the possibility of the helmet
coming off during an accident - possibly resulting in a severe head
injury or even death. While riding motorcycles, scooters, ATVs and
snowmobiles is fun, it can also be a dangerous pastime. At AFX, we
encourage you to enjoy riding responsibly, and to always ride within the
limits of your abilities.

CHIN STRAP RETENTION SYSTEM: DOUBLE D-RING
IMPORTANT: Make sure that you always fasten the chinstrap securely
beneath your chin when wearing your helmet. Before you ride test to
see that the helmet cannot be removed from your head when fastened
in that manner.
The helmet must not be worn or fastened so loose that it can rotate freely
front or back so that it could be removed from your head with the
chinstrap correctly fastened.
To securely fasten the double D-ring retention system, thread the end of
the chin strap through the D-rings only as shown in the diagram below.
The strap must be threaded through both d-rings, then separate the
d-rings and thread the strap back between both rings. If done correctly
the end of the strap will be away from your face and outside of the
portion of the strap that touches your neck.
Please refer to the diagrams to make sure you have done up the strap
correctly, and as always do not ride with the chinstrap not done up in
the correct illustrated manner.
If this helmet is equipped with a strap keeper, either a snap or a strap
band you can use it to secure the loose end of the strap to keep it from
apping while riding. This strap keeper is not part of the retention system
and is only designed to keep the extra length of strap in place. Do not
use it as a substitute for the helmets double d-ring retention system.
To remove the chinstrap, reverse the fastening process as shown in the
diagram below. Always make sure to inspect your chinstrap either
before or after every ride, if your chinstrap shows any signs of wear the
helmet should be replaced immediately. Never ride with a helmet that
has worn, damaged, or missing chinstraps. Make no modication to the
chinstrap in anyway.

INTERIOR: CHEEK PADS & COMFORT LINER
AFX helmet liners and cheek pads are made with a hypoallergenic and
anti-microbial nylon, most of which are removable and washable.
The size of this helmet is based on a combination of four factors: outer
shell size, inner EPS thickness, comfort liner thickness, and cheek pad
thickness. The t of the helmet can be customized by replacing your
existing cheek pads with thinner cheek pads (for a looser t), or thicker
cheek pads (for a tighter t). The t can also be customized by replacing
your existing comfort liner with a thinner comfort liner (for a looser t), or
thicker comfort liner (for a tighter t).
Please refer to the shell, liner and cheek pad compatibility chart below,
keep in mind these components can only be replaced inside the group
of sizes contained in each size range block.
And if you choose to take advantage of the ability to custom t your
helmet please keep in mind the instructions container earlier in the
proper tting guide.

CARE & CLEANING OF YOUR AFX HELMET
STORAGE OF YOUR AFX HELMET
Keep your helmet in a secure place when you’re not using it. We
recommend storing the helmet in the protective bag that was provided
with your helmet; alternately we make a secure vented storage carry
bag available as an option. Please see afxhelmets.com for more
information
Helmets are tough, but to maintain appearance and integrity, your
helmet should be protected if it is to be stored for a long time. However
we don’t recommend storing your helmet for a long time because it’s
more fun to be riding then not riding. Any attempt to install or replace a
visor or shield should be done at room temperature, as these items may
be susceptible to crack in the very cold.
Be aware that pets are attracted by the accumulated salt from perspiration
and may be tempted to chew on the helmet liner and cheek pads. This
really does happen, so feed your pet’s food, not helmets.
Clean your helmet liner only with mild soap and water. We recommend
a mild liquid soap solution with warm but not hot water. After cleaning
helmet interior, rinse with cold water and allow it to air dry at room
temperature. High heat and strong cleaning solvents will damage the
liner. Your helmet can be damaged without the damage being visible,
by any of the following:
• Gasoline, oil, petroleum-based uids and solvents
• Harsh or abrasive cleaning compounds
• Paints
• Adhesives
Automotive type waxes may be applied to the painted surfaces of the
helmet shell to protect the finish. Only use a wax suitable for a
clear-coated painted finish. If this helmet has a face shield we
recommend that you use only mild soap and warm water, and dry with
a soft cloth. Never use paper towels or tissues to wipe the face shields.
And never use any kind of commercial glass cleaner. You may
however use certain glass cleaners if they are approved for plastic
surfaces. Please read all warning labels on any protectant or cleaner
before using anywhere on your helmet.

IMPORTANT SAFETY WARNING
We at AFX recommend that any helmet suffering any kind of impact
to the shell be removed from use immediately, whether there is visible
physical damage or not. A helmet is designed to deform in an accident
in order to absorb the energy of the impact, and should never be
reused afterwards for its ability to protect the rider further could be
compromised. Even a helmet dropped accidently on the ground or any
other hard surface could result in hidden unseen damage not visible to
the rider.
If you suspect the integrity of the helmet has been compromised in any
way please immediately discontinue its use and seek a suitable

Also its important to realize that wearing a helmet does not make you
indestructible, so we encourage you to enjoy riding responsibly, and to
always ride within the limits of your abilities.
HELMET REPLACEMENT RECOMMENDATION
The expected lifespan of an AFX helmet is 4-5 years of seasonal use,
and decreases accordingly as the frequency of use increases. As you
would expect, helmets used for competition such, as road racing and
off-road tend to have a much shorter life span. The more exposure a
helmet endures to the elements, body oils, and perspiration, the faster it
will wear out. In most cases the helmet liner will be the rst component
to wear out and, as such, functions as a good indicator that a helmet

seils indiqués ici, vous pourrez proter au maximum de votre nouveau
casque.
Avant de vous en servir, veuillez prendre le temps de lire les
instructions suivantes, pour savoir comment l’utiliser et en prendre soin.
Il est très important de lire et de comprendre le contenu de ce manuel
et les mises en garde qui y gurent. Si vous ne le faites pas, vous risquez
de ne pas être protégé par le casque en cas d’accident.
IMPORTANT
PORT DU CASQUE AFX
Même si aucun casque ne peut protéger l’utilisateur contre toutes les
formes d’impact possibles, les consignes de sécurité ci-après vous
aideront à tirer le meilleur parti de votre casque pour bénécier d’une
protection optimale.
1. An d’assurer la protection pour laquelle il est conçu, le casque doit
être à la bonne taille. Pour être efcace, il ne doit être ni trop grand ni
trop petit. Correctement ajusté, avec la jugulaire bien serrée, le casque
sera à la fois sûr et confortable. Vous devez ressentir une pression
uniforme sur toute la tête, sans espaces. Il ne faut pas que le casque soit
lâche au point de pouvoir pivoter librement vers l’avant ou vers l’arrière
et d’être retiré avec la jugulaire attachée.
2. La jugulaire doit toujours être solidement attachée. Ne roulez jamais
sans avoir correctement xé la jugulaire au préalable. Veillez à ce
qu’elle soit toujours bien ajustée, sauf pour retirer le casque.
3. Ne modiez en aucun cas votre casque et n’y attachez jamais quoi
que ce soit à l’aide d’une vis ou d’un adhésif quelconque. Pour
préserver l’intégrité et l’efcacité de votre casque, ne modiez en
aucun cas sa structure interne ou externe.

Un casque ne vous protège que si vous le portez. Alors n’oubliez pas
de le mettre sur votre tête avant de partir. Vous sentez le vent dans vos
cheveux (ou ce qu’il en reste) ? Vous n’auriez pas oublié de mettre
votre casque par hasard ? Arrêtez-vous immédiatement et mettez votre
casque. Et ce, de façon adéquate, en l’attachant convenablement.

et ECE, répondant ou dépassant les normes de sécurité relatives aux
casques DOT FMVSS 218 (ÉTATS-UNIS/CANADA) et ECE 22-05 (EUROPE).
Reportez-vous au schéma ci-dessous an de vous familiariser avec la
terminologie utilisée sur ce casque avant de demander des pièces de
rechange ou de remplacer des éléments du casque.
N’EFFECTUEZ AUCUNE MODIFICATION SUR LE CASQUE. An de garantir
l’efcacité optimale de ce casque, ne modiez aucun élément de sa
structure interne ou externe, ni aucun des composants associés. De nom-
breux types de peintures et d’adhésifs sont susceptibles d’endommager
votre casque, voire de le rendre impropre à l’usage (sans que cela soit

AJUSTAGE ADÉQUAT DU CASQUE AFX
Déterminez la circonférence de la partie la plus large de votre crâne,
à l’aide d’un mètre ruban. En général, la partie la plus large du crâne
humain correspond à la zone située à 2,5 cm au-dessus des yeux et
des oreilles. Nous vous conseillons toutefois d’effectuer des mesures en
différents points, au-dessus et en dessous de cette ligne, afin de
déterminer la meilleure mesure avant de vous référer à nos tableaux
de tailles. Nous vous conseillons également d’essayer un casque une
taille en dessous et une taille au-dessus de celle recommandée par
le tableau. Aucun casque ne peut assurer de protection s’il est trop
désagréable à porter.
Les casques doivent s’ajuster parfaitement, mais sans faire mal. Tout en
maintenant les jugulaires à l’extérieur du casque, mettez-le sur votre
tête, en faisant attention à ne pas coincer les jugulaires à l’intérieur du
casque. Un casque bien ajusté procure une sensation de confort, avec
une pression relativement uniforme sur les côtés et le haut de la tête. Sur
la plupart des casques modernes, la doublure est conçue pour serrer
un peu plus au début, puis se détendre au bout de quelques heures
d’utilisation, pour s’adapter à la forme particulière de votre tête.

Si vous n’avez pas l’habitude des casques et ne savez pas bien
comment ils doivent s’ajuster, demandez conseil à une personne plus
expérimentée ou au magasin où vous avez acheté votre casque. De
manière générale, il ne doit pas être possible de faire bouger le casque
sur votre tête sans tirer sur la peau. Un casque mal ajusté est non
seulement dangereux, il peut aussi s’avérer bruyant et fatiguant à
porter. La plupart des gens commettent l’erreur d’acheter un casque
trop grand. IMPORTANT : veillez à bien serrer la jugulaire sous le
menton lorsque vous essayez un casque et vérifiez ensuite qu’il n’est
pas possible de l’enlever de la tête lorsqu’il est ainsi attaché. Il ne faut
pas que le casque soit lâche au point de pouvoir pivoter librement vers
l’avant ou vers l’arrière et d’être retiré avec la jugulaire attachée.
Aucun casque ne peut protéger complètement son utilisateur contre
un éventuel impact. Le casque ne peut protéger que la partie de la
tête qu’il recouvre. Pour assurer une protection optimale, le casque doit
être parfaitement ajusté avec la jugulaire bien attachée. Si vous ne
respectez pas ces instructions, les instructions imprimées sur le casque
et celles gurant dans le mode d’emploi, il existe un risque d’éjection du
casque en cas d’accident, susceptible d’entraîner des blessures graves
à la tête, voire la mort. La moto, le scooter, le VTT ou la motoneige sont
des passe-temps agréables, qui comportent aussi leur part de risque
AFX vous invite à proter de votre engin de manière responsable et à
toujours conduire dans les limites de vos capacités.

SYSTÈME DE FIXATION DE LA JUGULAIRE : BOUCLE DOUBLE D
IMPORTANT : veillez à toujours bien attacher la jugulaire sous le menton
lorsque vous portez le casque. Avant de partir, vériez qu’il n’est pas
possible de retirer le casque de la tête lorsqu’il est attaché de cette
manière.
Il ne faut pas que le casque soit porté ou attaché de manière lâche au
point de pouvoir pivoter librement vers l’avant ou vers l’arrière et d’être
retiré de la tête avec la jugulaire correctement attachée.
Pour attacher solidement le système de xation à boucle double D,
faites passer l’extrémité de la jugulaire à travers les
anneaux en forme de D en respectant scrupuleusement le schéma
ci-dessous.
Il convient de faire passer la bride dans les deux anneaux en forme de
D, puis de les séparer et d’enler la bride de nouveau entre les deux
anneaux. Si vous procédez correctement, l’extrémité de la bride sera
éloignée de votre visage et en dehors de la partie de la bride qui tou-
che votre cou.
Veuillez vous reporter aux schémas pour vérier que vous avez xé
correctement la bride. Comme toujours, ne roulez pas sans avoir xé
correctement la jugulaire au préalable, comme sur l’illustration.
Si ce casque est équipé d’un attache-bride (bouton-pression ou
bande), vous pouvez l’utiliser pour xer l’extrémité qui dépasse, an
d’éviter qu’elle ne otte au vent. Cet attache-bride ne fait pas partie du
système de xation. Il est prévu uniquement pour maintenir en place le
morceau de bride qui dépasse. Il ne doit pas remplacer le système de
xation à boucle double D des casques.
Pour retirer la jugulaire, inversez le processus de xation comme indiqué
sur le schéma ci-dessous. N’oubliez pas d’inspecter systématiquement
votre jugulaire, avant ou après chaque utilisation. Si celle-ci montre
des signes d’usure quelconques, il convient de remplacer
immédiatement le casque. Ne roulez jamais avec un casque usé,
abîmé ou sans jugulaires. Vous ne devez jamais modier la jugulaire
d’une quelconque manière.

INTÉRIEUR : MOUSSES DE JOUE ET DOUBLURE DE CONFORT
Les doublures et mousses de joue du casque AFX sont en nylon hypoal-
lergénique et anti-microbien. La plupart sont amovibles et lavables.
La taille de ce casque est basée sur une combinaison de quatre
facteurs : taille de la coque externe, épaisseur du PSE interne, épaisseur
de la doublure de confort et épaisseur de la mousse de joue. Il
est possible de personnaliser l’ajustage du casque en remplaçant les
mousses de joue par des mousses plus minces (pour un ajustage plus
lâche) ou plus épaisses (pour un ajustage plus serré). Vous pouvez
également remplacer la doublure de confort par une doublure plus
mince (pour un ajustage plus lâche) ou plus épaisse (pour un ajustage
plus serré).
Veuillez vous reporter au tableau de compatibilité des coques,
doublures et mousses de joue ci-dessous. N’oubliez pas que le
remplacement de ces composants doit s’effectuer exclusivement
dans le groupe de tailles correspondant à chaque bloc de plage de
taille.
En outre, si vous décidez de personnaliser l’ajustage de votre casque,
n’oubliez pas les consignes indiquées précédemment dans le guide
d’ajustage.
