2 Safety and dangers
ÂMake sure that the device is not used without instructions.
ÂMake sure that the device is used exclusively according to the instructions.
ÂMake sure that the safety settings are not disabled.
ÂMake sure that indication labels and caution labels are not removed.
ÂDo not open the device with tools (screwdriver etc.).
ÂMake sure that the device is not converted or modified.
ÂAvoid using accessories of other producers that are not recommended by Agatec.

7 Initial operation
Insert the batteries
See drawing E:
ÂTo ensure a reliable use, use exclusively alkaline batteries.
ÂRemove battery compartment cover.
ÂInsert alkaline batteries (2 x AAA) pay attention to the correct polarity.
ÂClose the battery compartment cover.
Changing the batteries
ÂChange the batteries when the battery symbol is flashing permanently.
8 How to use
8.1 Measuring conditions
The quality of the measurement depends on the surfaces to which you are measuring.
Measurement errors
Measuring errors are possible in case of:
Îcolourless fluids (e.g. water)
Îclean, translucent glass
Îstyrofoam or similar semi-translucent surfaces
Îstrongly reflecting targets that deflect the laserbeam
Îmeasurements aimed at moving objects
Causes:
ÎStrongly reflecting targets deflect the laser beam and cause measuring errors.
ÎNon-reflecting, dark surfaces increase the measuring time.
For constantly high-quality measurements
ÂPerform control measurements periodically.
ÂPerform control measurements before and after important measurements.
Caution
Damage to property due to use of wrong measuring results!
ÂAvoid measuring errors due to unexpected events during distance measuring.

8.2 Switching on/off
ÂSwitch on the device by pressing key 4briefly.
The device shows the battery symbol until another key is pressed.
ÂSwitch off the device by holding key 7for several seconds.
If no key is pressed for 180 seconds, the device switches off automatically.
8.3 Clear key
ÂUndo the most recent action by pressing key 7briefly.
8.4 Adjusting the measuring plane
See drawing F - H:
Rear measuring plane is the standard setting.
ÂFor measurement from front edge, press key 8briefly.
ÂFor measurement from rear edge, press key 8briefly again.
8.5 Unit setting
Metric system is the standard setting.
ÂTo change the unit, hold key 8for several seconds.
With every keypress, the device switches to the next unit.

12.1 Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
Despite the compliance with all requirements of the corresponding directives and norms, a dis-
turbance of other devices is possible.
12.2 FCC statement (applic. in U.S.)
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device,
pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection
against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can
radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions,
may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that
interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful inter-
ference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off
and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following
measures:
ÂReorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
ÂIncrease the separation between the equipment and receiver.

12.3 Laser classification
The Agatec DM100 generates a visible laser beam that is emitted on the front of the device.

2 Sécurité et dangers
ÂContrôler que l’appareil n’est pas utilisé sans instruction.
ÂContrôler que l’appareil est uniquement utilisé conformément aux fins prévues.
ÂContrôler que les dispositifs de sécurité ne sont pas rendus inopérants.
ÂContrôler que ni des panneaux indicateur ni des panneaux avertisseurs sont élevés.
ÂNe pas ouvrir l’appareil avec des outils (tournevis etc.).
ÂContrôler que l’appareil n’est ni transformé ni modifié.
ÂEviter l’utilisation des accessoires des autres fabricants qui ne sont pas recommandés par

7 Mise en service
Introduire les piles
Voir illustration E:
ÂPour assurer un usage fiable, utiliser uniquement des piles alcalines.
ÂEnlever le couvercle du compartiment à piles.
ÂRespecter la polarité lors de l'insertion des piles alcalines(2 x AAA).
ÂRefermer le compartiment à piles.
Remplacer les piles
ÂRemplacer les piles si l'icône clignote en continu.
8 Manipulation
8.1 Conditions de mesure
La qualité de la mesure dépend de la surface des cibles.
Erreur de mesure
Des erreurs de mesure sont possibles en cas:
Îde liquides incolores (par ex. l’eau)
Îde verre propre et translucide
Îde polystyrène ou des surfaces semitranslucides semblables
Îdes cibles très réfléchissantes qui dévient le faisceau laser
Îde mesures visées sur des objects bougés
Causes:
ÎDes cibles très réfléchissantes dévient le faisceau aser et causent des erreurs de mesure.
ÎSur des surfaces non réfléchissantes et noires, le temps de mesure s'allonge.
Pour des mesures de haute qualité constante
ÂEffectuer des mesures de contrôle périodiquement.
ÂEffectuer des mesures de contrôle avant et après des mesures importantes.
Attention
Endommagement du matériel causé par l’utilisation des résultats erronés!
ÂEviter des erreurs de mesure par des évènements imprévus pendant la mesure de distance.
ÂEffectuer une mesure de contrôle.

8.2 Mise sous/hors tension
ÂMettre l’appareil sous tension en pressantsur la touche 4longtemps.
L'icône pile s'affiche jusqu'au prochain actionnement d'une touche.
ÂPresser sur la touche 7longtemps pour mettre l’appareil hors tension
L'instrument s'arrête en plus si aucune touche n'est actionnée pendant 180 secondes.
8.3 Touche Clear
ÂPresser sur la touche 7brièvement pour annuler la dernière action.
8.4 Régler le plan de mesure
Voir illustration F - H:
La référence de mesure arrière est le réglage par défaut.
ÂPresser sur la touche 8brièvement pour régler la mesure à partir du bord avant.
ÂPresser sur la touche 8brièvement à nouveau pour régler la mesure à partir du bord arrière.
8.5 Régler les unités
Le système métrique est le réglage par défaut.
ÂPresser sur la touche 8longlemps pour changer l’unité.

La mesure continue démarre.
ÂPresser sur la touche 4brièvement.
La mesure continue s’arrête.
La dernière valeur mesurée s'affiche sur la ligne principale.

Addition:
ÂMesurer la première distance.
ÂPresser sur la touche 5une fois.
La deuxième mesure sera ajoutée à la première mesure.
ÂMesurer la deuxième distance.
Soustraction:
ÂMesurer la première distance.
ÂPresser sur la touche 9une fois.
La deuxième mesure sera soustraite de la première mesure.
ÂMesurer la deuxième distance.
Répéter si nécessaire. Le résultat s'affiche sur la ligne principale, la valeur précédente sur la
deuxième ligne.
