PRECAUTIONS
Read the Operating Instructions carefully and completely before

Water and moisture —Do not use this unit near water, such
as near abathtub, washbowl, swimming pool, or the like.
Heat —Do not use this unit near sources of heat, including
heating vents, stoves, or other appliances that generate heat.
It also should not be placed in temperatures less than 5°C
(41“F) or greater than 35°C (95°F).
Mounting surface —Place the unit on a flat, even surface.
Ventilation —The unit should be situated with adequate
space around it so that proper heat ventilation is assured.
Allow 10 cm (4 in.) clearance from the rear and the top of the
unit, and 5 cm (2 in.) from the each side.
-Do not place the unit on a bed, rug, or similar surface that
may block the ventilation openings.
-Do not install the unit in abookcase, cabinet, or airtight rack
where ventilation may be impeded.
Objects and liquid entry —Take care that objects or liquids
do not get inside the unit through the ventilation openings.

7Condensation —Moisture may form on the CD pickup lens
when:
-The unit is moved from acold spot to awarm spot
-The heating system has just been turned on
-The unit is used in avery humid room
-The unit is cooled by an air conditioner
When this unit has condensation inside, it may not function
normally. Should this occur, leave the unit for afew hours,
then try to operate again.
8Wall or ceiling mounting —The unit should not be mounted
on a wall or ceiling, unless specified in the Operating
Instructions.

Polarization —As asafety feature, some units are equipped
with polarized AC power plugs which can only be inserted
one way into apower outlet. if it is difficult or impossible to
insert the AC power plug into an outlet, turn the plug over and
try again. [fit still does not easily insert into the outlet, please
call aqualified service technician to service or replace the
outlet. To avoid defeating the safety feature of the polarized
plug, do not force it into apower outlet.
AC power cord
-When disconnecting the AC power cord, pull it out by the
AC power plug. Do not pull the cord itself.
-Never handle the AC power plug with wet hands, as this
could result in fire or shock,
-Power cords should be routed to avoid being severely bent,
pinched, or walked upon. Pay particular attention to the cord
from the unit to the power socket.
-Avoid overloading AC power plugs and extension cords
beyond their capacity, as this could result in fire or shock.
Extension cord —Tohelp prevent electric shock, do not use a
polarized AC power plug with an extension cord, receptacle, or
other outlet unless the polarized plug can be completely inserted
to prevent exposure of the blades of the plug.
When not in use —Unplug the AC power cord from the power
outlet if the unit will not”be-used for several months or “more.
When the cord is plugged in, asmall amount of current continues
to flow to the unit, even when the power is turned off.
Maintenance
Clean the unit only as recommended in the Operating
Instructions.

Have the units serviced by aqualified service technician if:
-The AC power cord or plug has been damaged
-Foreign objects or liquid have got inside the unit
-The unit has been exposed to rain or water
-The unit does not seem to operate normally

Before connecting the AC cord
The rated voltage of your unit shown on the rear panel is 120 V
AC,Check that the rated voltage shown on the rear panel matches
your local voltage,
IMPORTANT
●Insert plugs firmly into the jacks. Aloose connection may cause
noise.
●Connect AC cords after connecting all equipment.
●Consult the operating instructions of the connected equipment
before making connections.

1Connect the amplifier.
Connect the red plug to the AUDIO OUT Rjack and white
plug to the Ljack with the supplied audio connecting cord
with RCA phono plugs. Likewise connect the plugs to the CD
or AUX IN jacks of the amplifier.

This unit can output CD digital sound signals through this jack,
Use an optical cable to connect digital audio equipment (digital
amplifier, DAT deck, MD recorder, etc.).
Remove the dust cap @from the DIGITAL OUT (OPTICAL) jack.
Then, connect an optical cable plug @to the DIGITAL OUT
(OPTICAL) jack.
When the DIGITAL OUT (OPTICAL) jack is not being used
Attach the supplied dust cap.

To turn on the unit

After connecting the AC cord of the connected amplifier, press the
POWER button on the amplifier and on the CD player.
The display window lights up.
After use
Press the POWER button to turn off the power.bis displayed dimly
on the display window.
When the radio reception of connected stereo system
contains noise
Turn off the power of this CD player.
The flash window
The flash window lights up during power on and flashes when
the disc compartment is opened or closed, and when the trays
are rotated.
To turn the flash window off, press the POWER button on the
unit while keeping the ■STOP/CLEAR button pressed.
To turn the flash window back on, repeat the procedure.
Auto power off (SLEEP)
Press the SLEEP button on the unit during CD playing. The
SLEEP indicator is displayed, and the power automatically turns
off when the play finishes.
The SLEEP button can function only when it is pressed during
CD playing.

To cancel the auto power off
Press the SLEEP button while CD playing, so that SLEEP
indicator on the display disappears.
sIf the SLEEP button is pressed while the repeat play is in
operation, the repeat play is canceled.
●Do not subject the unit to shocks while the disc compartment is
opening or closing. Doing so can cause errors or damage the
discs.
Inserting batteries
Detach the battery cover on the rear of the remote control and
insert two R6 (size AA) batteries.

When to replace the batteries
The maximu”m operational distance between the remote control
and the sensor in the display window should be approximately 5
meters (16 feet). When this distance decreases, replace the
batteries with new ones.
●If the remote control is not going to be used for an extended
period of time, remove the batteries to prevent possible
electrolyte leakage.
●The remote control may not operate correctly when:
-The line of sight between the remote control and the remote
sensor inside the display window is exposed to intense light,
such as direct sunlight
-Other remote controls are used nearby (those of atelevision,
etc.)
Using the headphones
Connect headphones to the PHONES jack with astereo standard
plug (06.3 mm,l/d inch).

LOADING DISCS
Press the AOPEN/CLOSE button to open the disc
compartment. Load disc(s) with the label side up.
To load one or two discs, place the disc(s) on the tray(s) in the
direction of the arrows as illustrated.

To load three to five discs, press the DISC CHANGE button to
rotate the trays after placing two discs. Place the next disc on
the empty tray. Each time the DISC CHANGE button is pressed,
the trays rotate and one disc can be placed.
To use with the remote control, press the CHANGE button
instead.
After placing the discs, press the 40 PEN/CLOSE button to
close the disc compartment.
The display shows the information of the disc to be played.

This is displayed when the disc contains 21 tracks or more.
While atrack after 20th is being played, the OVER indicator
lights up.

Note that only the first 20 tracks are displayed, even if the
disc contains 21 tracks or more.
Load disc(s).
To play all discs in the disc compartment, press the ➤11
button or press one of the DISC DIRECT PLAY buttons
twice.
All discs are played once.

To search for aparticular point during playback, keep the

point.
To skip to the beginning of atrack during playback, press
1<< or ➤Mbutton repeatedly.
To remove discs, press the 4OPEN/CLOSE button.
You can remove the two discs that face you. When the disc to be
removed does not face you, press the DISC CHANGE(CHANGE)
button repeatedly.
To check the remaining time
Press the DISPLAY button during playback. Each time it is
pressed, the elapsed time of the playing track, the elapsed playing
time of the disc, the amount of time remaining until the current
track finishes playing, and the amount of time remaining until all
tracks finish playing are displayed in turn.
To skip discs
Press the DISC SKIP button on the remote control to skip adisc
and press the >/11 button to play the next disc. Play begins
with the next disc and all the discs are played once, including the
skipped disc.
●Discs can be skipped during play.

To start play from the point where you last stopped
Press the ■button during play to stop. Next, press the DISPLAY
button, and the display flashes to indicate the point where you
last stopped. Lastly, press the E-/l Ibutton, then play restarts
from this last stop point.
Play starts from the last stop point only if you press the DISPLAY
button before pressing the -/11 button. If you don’t press the
DISPLAY button, play starts from the beginning of the disc when
you press the -/l 1button.
Replacing discs during play
While one disc is playing, the other discs can be replaced without
interrupting play.

Press the’DISC CHANGE(CHANGE) button.
Two discs can be replaced.
Remove the discs and replace with other discs.
To replace the other two discs, press the DISC CHANGE
(CHANGE) button again.
Press the 4OPEN/CLOSE button to close the disc
compartment.
If “Err” (error) appears in the display window
It means that an error has occured in the movement of the disc
compartment. The disc compartment may not close. Adisc or
something must be stuck in the disc compartment. Remove it,
then press the AOPEN/CLOSE button to close.

●When loading an 8-cm (3-inch) disc, make sure to put it onto
the inner circle of the tray precisely. Otherwise, the disc maybe
damaged or the disc compartment will not open. If it does not
open, please consult your Aiwa dealer for repair.
●Do not place more than one compact disc on the disc tray.
●Do not tilt the unit with discs loaded. Doing so may cause
malfunctions,
●Do not use irregular shape CDs (example: heart-shaped,
octagonal ones). It may result in malfunctions.
.When transporting the unit, remove the discs from the trays.
●When replacing the discs during play,do not replace discs other
than those facing you.
If you place adisc on the empty right inner tray, and then press
the 40 PEN/CLOSE button “Err” is displayed and the disc
compartment may not close. Remove the disc on that tray.

track cannot be skipped.
“Direct selection of the tracks with the numbered buttons is not
possible.

button will cancel this repeat mode.
REPEAT PLAY
The current track, all the tracks on the selected disc, or all tracks
on all discs in the compartment can be played repeatedly.
Press the REPEAT button repeatedly.

.During random play, REPEATIJ mode cannot be selected to
repeat only the current track.
. If the REPEAT button is pressed while the auto power off is in
operation, the auto power off is canceled.
PROGRAMMEDPLAY
The CD player has abuilt-in memory function that allows play of
up to 32 memory banks over five discs in any order. Each of 32
memory banks can be one track or one whole disc.

To set the program.
To program the whole disc, press the selected DISC
DIRECT PLAY(DISC 1-5) button again, the tracks numbers
on the music calendar flash for 6seconds. Press the PRGM/
CHECK button within this 6seconds to program.
To program atrack, press the numbered buttons and the +1O
button.
Example:
To select the 12th track, press the +1Oand 2 buttons.
To select the 20th track, press the +1O,+1Oand Obuttons

To check the program
Each time the PRGM/CHECK button is pressed before playing, a
disc number, atrack number, and a program number are displayed.
To add tracks to the program
Repeat steps 2 and 3 in stop mode. The track will be programmed
after the last track.
To delete aprogrammed track
Press the PRGM/CHECK button in stop mode to display the track
to be deleted, and then press the DELETE button on the main
unit.
To clear the program
Press the ■button in stop mode, or press the AOPEN/CLOSE
button.
To check the amount of time remaining until the current
track finishes playing
Press the DISPLAY button during playing.

buttons do not operate during programmed play.
Youcannot see the amount of time remaining of all programmed
tracks.
If track 31 and above of adisc is programmed, the total playing
time of the selected tracks is not displayed.
Ifthe total playing time of the selected tracks is more than 99:59,
the display window will show --: ---
When the whole disc is programmed as one program track, the
tracks of this programmed disc cannot be played in random.

Al EDITRECORDING
The Al EDIT function lets you record tracks from one disc without
worrying about tape lengths and track lengths. When you insert
aCD, the unit automatically calculates track lengths. If necessary,
it rearranges the order of tracks, so that no track is cut short.

To stop recording in the middle of the program
Press the ■button on the cassette deck.
To clear the edit program
Before recording, press the ■button twice so that “_”
around EDIT disappears.
To check the order of the programmed tracks
Before recording, press the Al EDIT button to select side Aor B,
and press the PRGM/CHECK button repeatedly. The tracks in
the program are shown from the first track.

Before recording, press the Al EDIT button to select side Aor B,
and press the PRGM/CHECK button repeatedly to display the
track to be deleted, and then press the DELETE button on the
main unit.
To add tracks to the edit program
If there is any time remaining on the tape after step 5, you can
add tracks from other discs in the CD compartment before
recording starts,

If the playing time of aselected track is longer than the
remaining time, it is not added.
4Repeat steps 2 and 3 to add more tracks.

The Al edit recording cannot be used with discs containing
31 tracks or more.
When tracks are added or deleted, the Al edit mode will change
to programmed edit mode automatically.
In this case, use the PRGM EDIT button to select side Aor B
instead of Al EDIT button.

PROGRAMMEDEDITRECORDING
This function lets you program tracks to be recorded from all of
the discs, in any order. The remaining time on each side of the
tape is displayed as you program the tracks.

XC-30M pauses. Reverse the cassette tape and start play and
recording again. Play of programmed tracks on the reverse side
starts.
To stop recording in the middle of the program
Press the ■button on the cassette deck.
To check the order of the programmed tracks
Before recording, press the PRGM EDIT button to select side A
or B, and press the PRGM/CHECK button repeatedly. The tracks
in the program are shown from the first track.
To delete aprogrammed track
Before recording, press the PRGM EDIT button to select side A
or B, and press the PRGM/CHECK button repeatedly to display
the track to be deleted, and then press the DELETE button on the
main unit.
To change the program of each side
Press the PRGM EDIT button to select side Aor B, and press
the ■button to clear the program of the selected side. Then
program tracks again.
To clear the edit program
Before recording, press the ■button twice so that “-”
around EDIT disappears.

In programmed edit recording, only the first 30 tracks of adisc
can be edited, even if the disc contains 31 tracks or more.

To clean the cabinet
Use asoft cloth lightly moistened with mild detergent solution.
Do not use strong solvents such as alcohol, benzine or thinner.

cleaning cloth.

Fuentes de alimentacion —Conecte esta unidad solo aIas
fuentes de alimentacion especificadas en Ias Manual de
instrucciones, de la forma marcada en la unidad.
Polarization —Como funcion de seguridad, algunas
unidades estan equipadas con enchufes de CA polarizados
que solo pueden introducirse de una forma en Ios enchufes,
Si es dificil oimposible insertar el enchufe de CA en una
toma, dele la vuelta yvuelva aintentarlo. Si no se introduce
facilmente, Ilame a un tecnico cualificado para que arregle o
cambie la toma. Para no omitir la funcion de seguridad el
enchufe polarizado, no 10fuerce si no entra bien en el enchufe.
Cable de alimentacion de CA
-Cuando desconecte el cable de alimentacion de CA, tire
del adaptador de enchufe de CA. No tire del cable.
-No manipule el adaptador de enchufe de CA con Ias manes
mojadas, ya que puede producirse un incendio o una
descarga electrica.
-Los cables de alimentacion deben estar firmemente fijados,
para evitar que puedan doblarse excesivamente, pinzarse
opisarse. Ponga especial atencion en el cable desde la
unidad hasta la toma de alimentacion.
Evite sobrecargar Ios adaptadores de enchufe de CA yIos
cables alargadores por encima de su capacidad, ya que
puede producirse un incendio odescarga electrica.
Cable de extension —Para evitar choques electricos, no
utilice el cable de alimentacion polarizado con un cable de
extension, enrollable uotra toma a no ser que el enchufe
polarizado pueda insertarse compietamente para evitar la

Cuando no utilice la unidad —Desenchufe el cable de
alimentacion de CA del tomacorriente de CA si nova autilizar

Apague este reproductor de CD.
La ventanilla de parpadeo
La ventanilla parpadeante se encendera durante la conexion de
la alimentacion yparpadeara cuando el compartimento del disco
se abra ose cierre, ycuando giren Ias bandejas.
Para apagar la ventanilla, pulse el boton POWER de la unidad
principal mientras mantiene pulsado el boton ■STOP/CLEAR.
Para volver aencender la ventanilla, repita el procedimiento,
Desconexion automatic (SLEEP)
Pulse el boton SLEEP de la unidad durante la reproduction de
un CD. Se muestra el indicador SLEEP vla unidad se a~aaa de
forma automatic una vez finalizada la ;eproduccion. “ -
El boton SLEEP solo puede funcionar si se ~ulsa durante la
reproduction de un CD”.
Para cancelar la desconexion automatic
Pulse el boton SLEEP mientras se reproduce el CD para que

Se cancela la reproduction repetida.
●No someta la unidad avibraciones ogolpes mientras se abre

Insertion de Ias pilas
Extraiga la tapa de Ias pilas en la parte trasera del control remoto
einserte dos pilas R6 (tamaiio AA).

Cuando cambiar Ias pilas
La distancia de funcionmiento maxima del control remoto ydel
sensor en la unidad principal es de 5 metros, aproximadamente.
Cambie Ias pilas por otras nuevas cuando disminuya esta
distancia,
●Si no va autilizar el mando adistancia durante un periodo de
tiempo prolongado, extraiga Ias pilas para evitar una posible
fuga de electrolitos,
.El mando adistancia puede no funcionar correctamente en Ios
siguientes cases:
-El recorrido entre el mando adistancia yel sensor remoto

CARGA DE DISCOS
Presione el boton =OPEN/CLOSE para abrir el
compartimiento de discos. Cargue uno o varies
discos con la etiqueta hacia arriba.
Para insertar uno o dos discos, coloquelos en Ias bandejas
en la direccion de Ias flechas como muestra la ilustracion.

Para insertar de tres acinco discos, pulse el boton DISC
CHANGE para que Ias bandejas giren despues de colocar dos
discos. Coloque el siguiente disco en la bandeja vacia. Cada
vez que pulse dicho boton, Ias bandejas giran ysera posible
colocar un disco.
Para utilizar la unidad con el mando adistancia, pulse el
boton CHANGE.
Una vez colocado et disco, pulse el boton AOPEN/CLOSE
para cerrar el compartimiento de discos.
El visor muestra la information del disco que va areproducirse.

Cargue Ios discos.
Para reproducer todos Ios discos del compartimiento de
discos, pulse el boton 0110 bien pulse dos veces uno
de Ios botones DISC DIRECT PLAY.
Todos Ios discos se reproduce una vez.

Solo es posible extraer Ios dos discos orientados hacia fuera. Si

Para comprobar el tiempo restante
Presione el boton DISPLAY durante la reproduction. Cada vez
que 10 pulse, el tiempo transcurrido de la cancion de
reproduction, el tiempo de reproduction transcurrido del disco,
el tiempo restante hasta que la cancion actual termina de
reproducirese yel tiempo restante hasta que todas Ias canciones
terminan de reproducirse se visualizan en orden.
Para omitir discos
Pulse el boton DISC SKIP del mando adistancia para omitir un
disco yel boton -/11 para reproducer el disco siguiente. La
reproduction se inicia con el disco siguiente yse reproduce
todos Ios discos una vez, incluido el disco omitido.
●Es posible omitir discos durante la reproduction,

La reproduction se iniciara apartir del punto donde la detuvo la

desde el principio del disco cuando pulse el boton -/11.
Cambio de Ios discos durante la reproduction
Pueden cambiarse Ios demas discos sin interrumpir la
reproduction del disco actual.
1Presione el boton DISC CHANGE.
Es posible reemplazar dos discos.
2Retire Ios discos Ycambielos ~or otros.
Para reemplazar Ios otros dos discos, vuelva apulsar el boton
DISC CHANGE.
3Presione el boton 4OPEN/CLOSE para cerrar el
compartimiento de discos.
Si aparece “Err (error)” en el visualizador
Esto significa que se ha producido un error en el movimiento del
compartimiento de discos. No puede cerrarse el compartimiento
de discos. Un disco uotro objeto se ha atascado en el
compartimiento. Extraigalo ypulse e! boton 4OPEN/CLOSE
para cerrarlo.

●Si inserta un disco de 8 cm, asegurese de colocarlo con
precision en el circulo interior de la bandeja. En caso contrario,
es posible que el disco se daiie o que el compartimiento de
discos no se abra. Si este no se abre, pongase en contacto
con un proveedor Aiwa para su reparation.
.No ponga mas de un disco compacto en una misma bandeja
de disco compacto.
●No incline la unidad habiendo discos introducidos. Haser esto
podria causar aver(as.
●No utilice discos compactos de forma irregular (per ejemplo:
forma de corazon, octogonales). Puede provocar un mal
funcionamiento.
oCuando transport la unidad, retire Ios discos de Ias bandejas.
●Al reemplazar Ios discos durante la reproduction, reemplace
solo Ios que esten orientados hacia fuera.
Si coloca un disco en la bandeja interior vacia de la derecha y,
acontinuation, pulsa el boton 40 PEN/CLOSE, aparecera el
mensaje “Err” yes posible que el compartimiento de discos no
se cierre. Extraiga el disco de dicha bandeja.

Para borrar un tema programado
Pulse el boton PRGM/CHECK en modo de parada para que
aparezca el tema que desee borrar ypulse el boton DELETE de
la unidad principal.
Para cancelar la programacion

Para comprobar el tiempo restante hasta que la cancion

GRABACIONDEEDICIONAl Para parar la grabacion en medio del programa
Presione el boton ■de la platina de casete.
La funcion Al EDIT Ie permite grabar canciones de un disco sin
tener que preocuparse de la duration de la cinta yde Ias
canciones. Cuando inserte un disco compacto, el aparato
calculara automaticamente la duration de Ias canciones. Si es
necesario, cambiara el orden de Ias canciones para que no se
produzca ningun torte de cancion.

Inicie la grabacion.
Pulse el boton -/1 1en el XC-35M para iniciar la reproduction
yel boton de grabacion del equipo de estereo conectado.
Una vez finalizada la reproduction de Ios temas de la cara A,
el XC-30M se detiene. Es necesario darle la vuelta al cassette
yvolver ainiciar la reproduction ygrabacion. Se inicia la
reproduction de Ios temas programados de la cara B.

Para afiadir temas al contenido de edition
Si el tiempo restante es suficiente para grabar mas temas en el
paso 5, puede afiadir temas de Ios otros discos en el
compartimiento antes de que empiece la grabacion.

●La funcion de Al edition no se puede utilizar con discos que
contengan 31 temas omas.
●Si ha afiadido oeliminado temas, el modo de edition Al
cambiara al de edition programada automaticamente.
En este case, utilice el boton PRGM EDIT para seleccionar la
cara AoBen Iugar del boton Al EDIT.

Esta funcion Ie permitira programar Ias canciones para grabar
tamandolas de todos Ios discos del comprtimiento de discos
compactos, en cualquier orden. El tiempo restante de cada cara
de la cinta se visualizara cuando programe Ias canciones.

Cargue el disco odiscos en Ias bandejas de
discos.
Pulse el boton PRGM EDIT.
“J” aparecera alrededor PRGM y EDIT.
Presione Ios botones numericos para asignar la
duration de la cinta.
Introduzca una duration de 10 a 99 minutes.
Ejemplo: Cuando utilice una cinta de cassette de 60 minutes,
presione Ios botones 6yO.
Pulse uno de Ios botones DISC 1-5 para
seleccionar un disco.
Si el ntimero de deco que muestra el visor correspond al
disco que se desea programar, omits el paso 5yproceda
directamente con el paso 6.
Para ajustar el programa.
Para programar todo el disco, vuelva apulsar el boton DISC
1-5 seleccionado, Los numeros de tema del calendario
musical parpadea,n durante 6segundos. Pulse el boton
PRGM/CHECK durante estos 6segundos para introducer el
programa.

Para cambiar Ios temas programados de cada cara

Acontinuation, programe de nuevo Ios temas.

En grabacion de edition programada, solo el primero 30
canciones del disco puede ser editada, aungue el disco tengan
disco 31 canciones omas.
