stereo
system

MD
recorder/CD
player's
laser
pickup
lens
or
the
cassette
deck’s
transport
section
(such
as
capstan
and
heads),
preventing
correct
playback.
If
excess
condensation
forms
on
the
compact
disc
or
inside
the
CD
player/MD
recorder,
operation
of
the
CD
player/MD
recorder
will
not
resume
until
the
con-
densation
has
had
ample
time
to
dissipate.
If
condensa-
tion
forms
inside
the
cassette
deck,
the
tape
will
stick
to
the
heads
and
be
ruined,
or
it
will
not
be
transported
prop-
erly.
In
either
case
wait
30
minutes
to
one
hour
before
using
the
stereo
system.

Clean
the
cabinet
with
a
soft,
dry
cloth.

the
cabinet
is
excessively
dirty,
clean
it

a
mild
detergent.

In
case
of
malfunction
A
large
amount
of
static
electricity
may
cause
this
stereo
component
system
to
malfunction
or
stop
functioning
com-
pletely.
In
this
case,
the
micro-processor
must
be
re-set
to
its
initial
operating
mode
as
follows.
Unplug
the
power
cord
from
your
household
AC
out-
let
for
at
least
1
minutes,
then
reconnect
it.
The
micro-processor
will
be
reset.

care
Handling
the
MD
As
the
MD
disc
is
inserted
in
a
cartridge,
there
is
no
need
to
worry
about
getting
it
dirty
or
leaving
fingerprints
on
it
when
handling.
However,
as
dirt
on
the
cartridge
or
bending
may
cause
improper
operation
please
be
sure
to
observe
the
fol-
lowing
cautions.
Do
not
touch
the
inside
disc
with
your
hand
Never
attempt
to
open
the
shutter
part
by
force.
This
may
cause
the
shutter
to
not
close
properly,
or
break
it.
Cartrigde
Shutter
Clean
regularly
Clean
dust
or
dirt
on
the
cartridge
by
wiping
with
a
soft
cloth.
Compact
disc
care
Dise
handling

Hold
the
compact
disc
by
the
outer
edge
only,
supporting
.it
at
the
center
hole
area
with
your
index
finger
if
neces-
sary.
Avoid
touching
the
unprinted
side
of
the
disc.

Do
not
attach
adhesive
tape
etc.,
to
the
disc.
Disc
cleaning

Dust,
dirt
or
fingerprints
on
the
discs
recorded
side
will
hamper
the
laser
operation
and
cause
a
decrease
in
sound
quality.
To
clean
dirt
buildup,
wipe
the
disc
with
soft
(com-
mercial
sold
silicone
cloth
etc).
Do
not
use
volatile
chemical
substances
such
as
benzine
or
thinner
etc.,
as
this
will
damage
the
disc’s
surface.

cassette
tape
storage
After
using
the
disc
or
tape
,
always
return
it
to
its
plastic
case,

pressing
the
hook
with
your
finger,
pull
the
lid
up.

Insert
the
batteries
making
sure
that
the
polarities
(+/—)
are
aligned
correctly.
Remote
control
usage
range

When
operating
the
remote
control,
make
sure
that
it
is
pointed
at
the
remote
sen-
sor
window
on
the
main
unit.
The
remote
control
will
op-
erate
within
a
range
of
30°
to
the
left
or
right
of
the
sys-
tem
and
up
to
7m
from
it.
When
batteries
become
old,
the
transmitting
range
of
the
remote
control
will
lessen.
If
this
happens,
please
replace
the
batteries
with
new
bat-
teries.

The
digital
(optical)
input/output
terminal
is
protected
with
a
dust
prevention
cap.
Remove
this
cap
when
making
connections.
When
not
using
this
terminal,
reinsert
the
cap

Antenna
placement
Do
not
place
the
AM
loop
antenna
on
top
of
the
tuner
or
any
other
metal
encased
object
as
this
could
result
in
noise
in-
terference.
It
should
also
not
be
placed
near
a
CD
player,
computer
or
TV
set.
The
FM
antenna
should
be
attached
to
a
wall
etc.,
after
be-
ing
unwound
and
extended
to
its
full
length.
FM
antennas
FM
broadcasts
provide
excellent
sound
quality,
but
in
order
to
take
advantage
of
this,
the
radio
waves
must
be
received
properly.
We
recommend
that
you
select
an
antenna
appro-
priate
for
your
area.

AUX
input
terminals
These
are
input
terminals
for
analog
connection
of
external
components.
Playback
of
an
external
cassette
deck
or
LD
player
etc.,
is
possible
by
connecting
these
terminals
to
the
pin
jack
output
terminals
of
the
connecting
component.

This
is
the
optical
output
terminal
for
the
CD’s
digital
signal.
Normally,
connect
this
terminal
to
this
system’s
MD
recorder
DIGITAL
IN
terminal
using
an
optical
fibre
cable.
If
not
con-
nected,
digital
recording
of
CDs
to
the
MD
is
not
possible.
Digital
recording
to
other
components
is
also
possible
by
connecting
this
terminal
to
the
digital
(optical)
input
terminal
of
digital
recording
components
the
such
as
an
MD,
DAT
etc..

Normally,
connect
the
input
terminal

the
digital

output

this
system’s
CD
player
using

optical
fibre
cable.
This
connection
allows
recording
of
the
CD's
digital
signal
to
the
MD.
Digital
recording
to
other
components
is
also
possible
by
connecting
an
MD,
DVD
or
external
BS
broadcast
compo-
nent
etc.,
that
has
a
digital
(optical)
output
terminal.
Although
the
sampling
frequency
of
a
DAT
or
BS
broadcast
differs,
the
frequency
will
be
converted
automatically.
The
MD’s
digital
(optical)
signal
is
output
from
the
output
terminal.
The
digital
(optical)
input
terminal
of
an
external
component
can
be
connected
here
for
digital
signal
connec-
tion.

Before
operating

Power
on/off
Although
the
system's
power
will
be
turned
on
when
the
(
/

button
is
pressed,
the
system
will
take
5
seconds
to
stabi-
lize
itself.
During
this
time,
the
power
indicator
will
flash
and
operation
buttons
will
not
be
operable.
Pressing
the
/
I
button
again
will
turn
the
power
off.
Even
when
the
power
is
off,
power
is
still
being
supplied
to
some
of
the
system’s
circuits,
such
as
the
time
circuit.
For
safety,
unplug
the
power
cord
from
your
household
AC
power
outlet
when
you
will
not
be
using
this unit
for
a
long
period
of
time.
Power
save
mode
When
the
power
save
mode
is
engaged,
in
order
to
con-
serve
energy
the
system
will
be
turned
off
when
CD,
MD
or
TAPE
input
is
selected
and
the
component
has
not
been
used
for
more
than
10
minutes.

the
power
save
mode:
When
the
system's
power
is
turned
on,
press
the
remote
control's

will
appear
on the

display,
indicating
that
the
power
save
mode
is
engaged.
When

power
save
mode

engaged,
“P”
will
appear
on
the
FL
display
when
the
system's
power

turned

When
turning
off
the
power,
press
the

button
on
the
remote
control
until

“P”
indicator
goes
out.
About
the
JOG
dial:
SET
The
JOG
dial
includes
a
power

save
circuit
to
prevent
wear
of
remote
control
batteries.
When
the
JOG
dial
is
not
used
for
more
than
3
minutes,
the

power
save
mode
is
engaged,

disabling
the
JOG
dial.
To
use
the
JOG
dial
in
this
case,
first
press
the
SET/JOG
button
before
using.
Setting
the
clock
This
system
has
a
built-in
clock
circuit.
Before
the
timer-con-
trolled
functions
can
be
used,
the
clock
must
be
set
to
the
current
time.
The
clock
will
function
even
while
the
system's
power
is
off.
The
current
time
will
be
displayed
on
the
FL
display.

reception
Tuning
of
radio
stations
can
be
done
manually
or
automati-
cally.
Up
to
30
radio
stations
can
be
memorized
at
preset
channels
and
recalled
with
the
10
key
buttons
or
JOG
dial.

tuning

select
a
band.
The
band
will
change
each
time

TUNER

is
pressed.

Frequencies
will
be
automatically
scanned.
When
a
radio
station

received,
scanning
will
stop.
To
stop
scanning

any
time,
