NOOK™

NOOK™ is a corner rehabilitation chair which helps children and young people
to adopt the correct sitting position with upright legs. It is worth saying that this
position enforces the correct alignment of hips.
It is recommended as the first therapeutic chair. Ergonomic pelottes and
abduction block with pelvic belt not only make the user feel secure but also
control the correct posture. Additionally, a vast array of adjustment is beneficial
due to the fact that children grow fast.
The NOOK™ seat is available in a universal size and therefore it is perfect for
children as well as young people. This device is both light and small thanks to
which you can easily move the chair into different places.

5. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
To assemble the positioning chair use the hex key and the Phillips
screwdriver, which are located inside the abduction block.

To change the position of the pelvic support, use the Phillips screwdriver to unscrew
and remove 4 screws with washers from the bottom of the base.

Insert four barrel nuts into the holes in
the pelvic support so that their
openings are directed upwards. Next,
move the base and attach it again to
the pelvic support with the screws.

5.1. PELVIC SUPPORT ADJUSTMENT
The NOOK™ positioning chair is available
in one universal size. It means that you can
change the depth of the seat by moving
the pelvic support. You can choose
between two pelvic support positions in
relation to the base of the chair.

Before adjusting the positioning chair, remove the abduction block, the
pelvic belt, the pelvic support cushion and the seat cushion.

5.2. TRAY
Mount the tray after placing the user in the chair. The tray should be inserted
under the abduction block until the locking pin snaps. In order to remove the
tray, pull away and hold the locking pin and then take the tray out.
The tray must always be placed on a stable surface. Therefore, do not
use the tray when the wheels are mounted to the base of the chair.

6.3.2. Headrest adjustment
The headrest is fully adjustable – you can adjust the height, depth and angle of
the headrest. Thanks to its modular design, it is also possible to adjust the
shape of the headrest to the user's head. It helps to keep the head in the
correct position and improves the comfort of use. A properly stabilized and
supported head significantly reduces neck muscle tension.

§drains, bags, catheters etc. if applied, have to be secured to function
properly and not to disturb during using the product;
§user's outfit is light and comfortable sporty clothes are advisable;
Before using the product, it is essential to make sure that:
§shoes should be comfortable and, moreover, they should stabilize
ankle;
§due to hygienic reason and to avoid abrasion it is advisable for the user
to always wear clothes when using the device, skin must not be naked
especially in places of regular contact with upholstery;
§if it is necessary for a user to wear orthopedic supply (collar, corset,
orthesis, shoes) if it is recommended by doctor.
NOOK™ chair has to be used with compliance to guidelines included in this
user manual. Remember to use the product only with someone who is trained
and knowledgeable. Do not forget to prepare both product as well as user
before using NOOK™chair!
Outfit should protect user's skin from direct contact with upholstery as well as
other parts of equipment.
Only doctor can make a decision concerning using any kind of orthopedic
supply!

1.How to prepare the chair for use:
ˇ adjust the chair to the user's size;
2. In case of users who have problem with bladder, it is necessary to put special cloth on
seat. This cloth can be purchased in pharmacy or medical shops.
ˇ assemble the chair (if it is disassembled);
ˇ push the brakes (if the wheels are mounted);
ˇ unfasten the chest and pelvic belts in order to sit the user down in the chair;
ˇadjust the abduction block;
ˇmount the tray.
ˇ place the chair on an even surface;
ˇput the user in the chair;
ˇ make sure that all the elements are undamaged, properly mounted and
stable;
ˇfasten the elements which stabilize the user – the chest and pelvic belts;

7.2. PREPARATION OF THE CHAIR
Before the product is used, it is highly necessary to make sure that all
belts as well as safety equipment are correctly fastened as well as
adjusted. What is more, check if they do not become undone due to
the pressure and, moreover, make sure that clampings from
adjustable elements are firmly tightened!
Equipment works correctly only when the device is adjusted
according to user's height as well as weight. Remember to take all
these measurements into account while purchasing the product.
Correct adjustment is the most important due to the fact that only
then the product is safe. It is forbidden to force child to keep specific
position because he/she will feel uncomfortable and it may lead to
wrong posture.
