Annunciator Controller
For use with CM800 and DS100 Annunciators
Installation Manual
The Alpha Communications® AC219 Annunciator Controller is desi ned to be used in conjunction with a CM800
Emer ency Call system, or a DS100 Door Sentry system. When a switch device ives a contact closure or openin ,
dependin on confi uration, this unit will cause the attached annunciator and/or other devices to sound and to illuminate
the appropriate visual indication.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
The AC219 must be placed in a cool, clean and dry location. All connections must be clean and secure to insure reliable
operation. Some installations or local codes may require that it be installed in a protective junction box with its
transformer and the transformer’s primary 120VAC connections.
WIRING REQUIREMENTS
The AC219 Annunciator Controller must be powered by a 16VAC 30VA transformer located within 100 feet (30 meters)
usin #18AWG wirin . The transformer must be mounted in accordance with all applicable codes. Please note that the
AC219 rectifies and re ulates the 16VAC input into 24VDC power for system operation.
Since wirin will vary, dependin on the specific system in which it will be used, please refer to the suitable wirin
dia ram(s) in this manual as well as system specific information found in the appropriate system manual.
When servicin any system of this type, always check all wirin for shorts and rounds before applyin system power to
prevent potential dama e to the wirin and system components. Do not service the system while power is applied.
CM800 System Description
The CM800 system is desi ned as a sin le priority level emer ency call system. With the AC219 Annunciator Controller,
mechanically latchin devices of various sorts can be used to send an alert to a master station or multiple master stations
connected in parallel. The CM800 system can support corridor li hts and can tri er floor bells, strobes, and many other
audible and/or visual annunciators. All call resets must be done at the ori inatin station.
DS100 System Description
The DS100 system is desi ned to alarm when a door, window, or cabinet switch tri ers a chan e of state in a normally
open (NO) or normally closed (NC) momentary contact device connected to the system. The latchin of the alert is done
in the circuitry of the master station and must be reset there. Usually DS100 systems have one master station but
additional masters may be used, however the alarm must be reset at all masters when this is done.

AC219 OPERATION THEORY
The AC219 consists of several separate sections performin specific functions:
Power Supply
The AC219 is powered by the 16VAC transformer input at terminals T1 & T2 and rectifies and re ulates the volta e to a
controlled 24VDC output at P (positive) and N (ne ative). The system uses this volta e to power the dome li hts on a
CM800 system, enerate the tone, and illuminate the Annunciator bulbs when the devices complete the circuit.
Tone Generator
A built in oscillator sends a tone to the speakers in all master(s) and duty station(s), when an alarm is active. The tone
can be silenced at a master by pressin the Tone off button. The Tone indicator li ht will also turn off to indicate that the
master has been silenced. This will also silence all Duty Stations related to this master. The tone will be silenced until all
calls have been reset at which point the tone will automatically turn back on. Tone volume is variable by turnin the
volume control potentiometer on the AC219 but can not be completely silenced.
Alarm Sensor
A built in detector circuit monitors current flow in the system. When the devices are all in their off state, there is no
current flow. The D (detector) terminal is where the Annunciator li hts et their positive side power. Their ne ative side
is provided throu h the call device (pull station, push button, or door sensor) to complete the circuit.
As soon as a device switch closes and allows the current flow to li ht the Annunciator bulb, the detector circuit starts the
alarm tone. The alarm will continue until all devices are back to their off state.
Auxiliary Relay
The AC219 also provides a Form C relay that will chan e state durin an event, enablin additional specialized equipment
to be activated such as floor bells, sirens, strobes, auto dialers, or other means of notification.
