The AMX/Panja Viewpoint is the one-way Infrared remote
device that controls the audio/visual equipment that comes
with the CEC/Vision Athena Distance Learning Package.
This device is the next step in the evolution of the distance
learning equipment package. This manual will help you with
the necessary steps to operate the Vision Athena equipment
package.
Charging the Battery
The ViewPort Docking Station provides a built-in battery
charger and an angled desk docking station to cradle your
ViewPoint touch panel. When a Viewpoint is placed in the
docking station’s cradle, the ViewPoint makes contact with
the charging pins and the docking station supplies power.
The docking station also contains a battery compartment to
keep your spare battery charged. Status LEDs are located on
the bottom front of the docking station. There are three
LEDs; yellow indicates a Viewpoint connection to the
docking station; red shows a battery being charged in the
charging compartment; green indicates that the battery in the
charging compartment is fully charged.

Getting Started
The Viewpoint should be asleep (black screen) when you
begin. Touch any area on the touch screen. The Viewpoint
will now come on and your ViewPoint touch panel should
now be at the last menu screen used.
If loud noise comes through the speakers immediately after
pressing on the touch panel, press the MUTE REMOTE
button (bottom left external purple button). Remember that
you’ll need to press it again to hear the audio from the
remote site or sites during a connection. If you are using the
equipment with no network connection, be sure to press the
MUTE REMOTE button.
Turning on the System
Your local video source is what image you are sending out to
the other sites connected to your session. Your local video
source buttons are located along the left hand side of the
touch panel screen. Selecting any source (blue buttons) will
turn the system on. The system may also be turned on or off
by pressing the SYSTEM button and pressing the POWER
ON/OFF button.

Muting buttons: three buttons (MUTE LOCAL, MUTE
REMOTE and MUTE ALL) control the audio outputs of
the system.
Pressing MUTE LOCAL (Upper left external purple button)
will mute your microphone audio to the remote sights.
“LOCAL MUTED” will be displayed on the large monitor,
when this is pressed.
Pressing MUTE REMOTE (Lower left external purple
button) will mute the audio being received from the remote
sight. Press MUTE REMOTE again to turn off.
“REMOTE MUTED” will be displayed on the large monitor,
when this is pressed.
Pressing MUTE ALL will mute local, remote and the
speakers’ audio. MUTE ALL overrides MUTE LOCAL
and MUTE REMOTE. “ALL MUTED” will be displayed
on the large monitor, when this is pressed.
Toggling Mute Display: You can toggle the mute display
on or off by going into the SYSTEM menu and pressing
MUTE DISPLAY ON or MUTE DISPLAY OFF
respectfully.
Volume Up/Down: The purple buttons on the right side of
the ViewPoint touch panel control speaker volume. Pressing
the top button will make the volume louder and pressing the
bottom button will lower the volume. Best results are
achieved by setting the volume just loud enough for everyone
to hear comfortably. Turn down the volume if you hear
feedback coming from the speakers. If you still hear
feedback or a loud echo of your voice, ask any remote sites
you are connected with to turn their volume down as well.

HOW TO PRESET A CAMERA POSITION
Adjust the camera position using the Pan, Tilt and Zoom
controls until you get a properly “framed” view of your room
and participants. Using the ViewPoint touch panel, these
camera positions can be saved as presets.
1. Frame the camera angle using the ViewPoint controls.
Refer to the Source Submenus section for directions.
2. Once the position is set, press the SAVE PRESET
button. The button will turn green when activated.
3. Select a numbered (1-6) button to store your preset.
After you have stored the presets, you can recall it anytime
by pressing either the INSTRUCTOR CAMERA button or
STUDENT CAMERA button and pressing the
corresponding 1-6 button. Presets stay in each camera’s
memory until a new camera position is saved for that
camera’s preset. Presets are changed by saving a new

AUTO TRACKING
The instructor camera and student camera both have auto-
tracking capabilities. To use it, complete the following steps.
1. Press the ON/OFF button in the tracking menu.
2. Position subject within the white rectangle appearing
on the screen. The camera tracks by color. The camera
will not detect a white, black or gray shirt.

frame a colored object and a number value will appear
on the screen. The higher the number value the easier
time the camera will have tracking the objects
movements. If the white box goes full screen, the
camera was unable to detect the colored object.
4. Press the ON/OFF button to turn off Auto Tracking.
NOTE: Auto tracking is only available on the Sony EVI-D30 cameras. Sony
does not offer this feature in the newer EVI-D100’s. Below is a picture of each.
