filtration system. The UF-216CC
Series reduces cysts and turbidity that
can enter a typical water supply. This
patented technology is now available
to you, sized for your particular
application. All filter configurations
utilize NeoH capillary membranes,
providing the latest innovation in
reusable surface filtration technology.
This manual provides the safety,
installation and operating procedures
for the UF-216CC Series water
filtration system. We recommend
that all information contained in this
manual be read prior to installing and
operating the unit.
Your UF-216CC Series unit is
manufactured from the finest materials
available and is assembled to Antunes’s
strict quality standards. This unit has
been tested at the factory to ensure
dependable trouble-free operation.
Before Use
This manual contains safety, installation,
and operating procedures for the unit.
Read and understand it completely before
installing or operating the unit. Keep this
document for reference. If the unit changes
ownership, this manual must accompany it.

Installation

Sanitation Manual of the Food
and Drug Administration (FDA).
yInstall and locate the equipment
only for its intended use as
described in this manual.
Operation
yThe unit is furnished with
a properly grounded cord
connector. Do not attempt to
defeat the grounded connector.
yDo not operate the unit if it has
been damaged or dropped, if it
has a damaged cord or plug, or
if it is not working properly.
yDo not block or cover any
openings on the equipment.
yDo not immerse the cord,
unit, or plug in water.
yKeep the cord away from
heated surfaces.
yDo not allow the cord to hang over
the edge of a table or counter.
WARNING
ELECTRICAL SHOCK HAZARD.
Failure to follow the instructions in
this manual could result in serious
injury or death.
Do not modify the power supply cord
plug. If it does not t the outlet, have
a proper outlet installed by a qualied
electrician.
Electrical ground is required on this
appliance.
Checkwithaqualiedelectricianif
you are unsure if the appliance is
properly grounded.
Do NOT use an extension cord with
this product.
The unit should be grounded
according to local electrical codes to
prevent the possibility of electrical
shock. It requires a grounded
receptacle with separate electrical
lines, protected by fuses or circuit
breaker of the proper rating.
NEVER unplug the power cord
while the unit is running. Use the
proper shutdown procedure before
unplugging the power cord.
Water pressure must not exceed
100 psig (690 kPa). To reduce water
pressure, install a water pressure
regulator and set water pressure to
suit application.
The trans membrane pressure (inlet
water pressure minus the permeate
water pressure) must not exceed 45
psi (310 kPa).
System should be supplied only with
cold water.
Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Plumbing Code 248 CMR shall be
adhered to. The use of saddle valves
are not permitted, please consult your
local plumber.
A ground fault circuit interrupter

When installed on metallic plumbing,
a properly sized electrical bonding

inlet and outlet pipes serving this
device.
Maintenance
yDo not use abrasive materials;
they can damage the unit’s
stainless steel nish.
yDo not use corrosive chemicals
in this equipment.
yChlorides or phosphates in cleaning
agents (e.g., bleach, sanitizers,
degreasers, and detergents) can
permanently damage stainless
steel equipment. The damage is
usually in the form of discoloration,
dulling of the metal surface nish,
pits, voids, holes, or cracks.
This damage is permanent and
is not covered by warranty.
yAlways use a soft, damp cloth for
cleaning. Rinse with clear water and
wipe dry. When required, always rub
in the direction of metal polish lines.
yDo not clean the unit with a
water jet or steam cleaner.
Service
yInspection, testing, and
repair of electrical equipment
must be performed only by
qualied service personnel.
yTo avoid possible personal injury
and/or damage to the unit, all
inspections, tests, and repair of
electrical equipment should be

Unit Overview
Operation Overview
The UF-216CC system operates in two modes:
yNormal Operation Mode
yFlush Mode
During Normal Operation Mode, water enters the Inlet and
ows through the Ultra Filter before exiting the Permeate
Outlet as usable product water.
During Flush Mode, the Drain Valve opens and water entering
the Inlet ushes and cleans the Ultra Filter membrane by
removing any debris collecting on the membrane wall.
The Drain Valve is only powered during Flush Mode.
NOTE:DoNOTunplugthepowercordorturno󰀨the
system during Flush Mode. If there is a power
outage or the system is unplugged, water will
continuetobelteredbutthesystemwillNOT
ush.ThiscouldcausetheUltraFiltertoplug
prematurelyandmayreducethelifeofthelter.
The ush is automated by the controller to last 10
seconds and take place in one hour intervals. This interval
can be changed (see Changing the Interval Setting in the
Maintenance section of this manual).
Manual Flushing
A manual ush can be activated at any time by pressing the
FLUSH button.
When the FLUSH button is pressed, the Flush LED on the
controller ashes and the Drain Valve opens for 10 seconds.
After ushing is complete, the Drain Valve will close, the Flush
LED will stop ashing and the unit will automatically return to
Normal Operation Mode.
NOTE:Amanualushwillnota󰀨ecttheintervalush

Caution
Changing the ush interval can cause the Ultra Filter to plug
prematurely and may reduce the life of the lter. Consult the
factory for more
information.

Equipment Setup
Unpacking
1. Remove the system and all packing materials from the shipping
carton.
2. Remove all packing materials and protective
coverings from the system
3. Remove the information packet. To prevent any delay in obtaining
warranty coverage, ll out and mail the warranty card.
NOTE: If any parts are damaged, contact Antunes IMMEDI-
ATELYat1-800-253-2991or1-630-784-1000.
General
When placing the unit into service, pay attention to the following
guidelines:
yDo NOT immerse cord or plug in water.
yKeep cord away from heated surfaces.
Suggested Tools and Supplies for Installation
The following tools and supplies are suggested to make the
installation easier:
yScrewdriver
yDrill with bits
yTape measure
yPipe wrenches
yAdjustable wrenches
yLevel
yTwo gallon bucket
yPipe dope or thread seal tape
yFresh 5 1/4% liquid chlorine bleach
Electrical
Ensure that the line voltage corresponds to the stated voltage
on the units specication label. Make sure that the plug on the
power cord from the system and the outlet match. For proper
operation, and to ensure the highest quality water from the sys-
tem, make sure that the system is not connected to a switched
electrical outlet.
Plumbing
NOTE: This unit is designed to use tap water not to exceed
100°F (38°C) or 100 psig (690 kPa).
The UF-216CC system uses the following connections (Fig-
ure 1):
yWater Inlet
yPermeate (Product Water)
yDrain
1/2” NPT
1/2” NPT
1/2” NPT
When making a plumbing connection to the system, remember
to use a back-up wrench on the supporting plumbing. Always
use a good quality, approved pipe sealant or thread seal tape on
pipe threads. Be careful not to get the pipe sealant inside the
pipe when making the connections.
Do NOT over tighten the connections. It is recommended that
plastic ttings be used when connecting to the plastic connec-
tions of the system. This will reduce the possibility of cracking
the connections due to overtightening.
If soldered plumbing is used, do NOT apply heat to, or near, the
ltration system. The use of union (O-ring seal) connections is
highly recommended for ease of installation and future servicing.
CAUTION
This equipment is to be installed to comply with the basic
plumbing code of the Building O󰀩cials and Code Administra-
tors, Inc. (BOCA) and the Food Service Sanitation Manual of
the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
CAUTION
Water pressure must not exceed 100 psig (690 kPa). To re-
duce water pressure, install a water pressure regulator and
set water pressure to suit application. Note that the trans
membrane pressure must not exceed 45 psi (310 kPa).
IMPORTANT
Commonwealth of Massachusetts Plumbing Code 248 CMR
shall be adhered to. The use of saddle valves are not permit-
ted, please consult your local plumber.
Mounting the System
The UF-216CC system comes with a Mounting Bracket to
mount the system securely. When mounting the system, pay
attention to the following guidelines:
yNote the location of the water supply,
drain, and an appropriate electrical outlet
when choosing a mounting location.
yAllow su󰀩cient access for cartridge replacement.
yMount the system near but NOT above
an appropriate electrical outlet.
yDo NOT mount the system above any
electrical equipment or items that may
be damaged if they get wet.
yMount the system near a drain for ushing operations.
yMount the system before all consumable water
ltration processes.
ySecure the Mounting Bracket into wall studs or with
the appropriate heavy duty mounting hardware.
The system is pre-assembled to a Mounting Bracket. The
Mounting Bracket has mounting holes to secure the bottom of
the system to the wall.
Inlet Water Plumbing
The Inlet water plumbing line should be 1/2 ” NPT or larger. A
shuto󰀨 valve (not supplied) should be installed in the line lead-
ing to the system. The valve should be mounted close to the
system inlet and sized properly for the inlet plumbing line.
An optional “T” or Cross Fitting with cap or plug can be
installed between the Inlet Valve and the System Inlet. This
tting can be used for draining and sanitizing the system and
downstream plumbing.
The system should only be connected to the cold water line.
Before connecting the tting to the System Inlet, the plumb-
ing to the system must be ushed clear of all debris. Hold a
bucket at the inlet water line and slowly open the Inlet Water
Valve. Allow the pipe to ush until all debris is removed.

Drain Valve Connection
The drain line is for ushing particle buildup out of the
system during self cleaning. When connecting the drain line,
pay attention to the following guidelines:
yThe drain line plumbing must be able support the ow
rate whenever the system ushes. This ow rate is
dependent on the inlet water pressure, inlet pipe size,
and system.
yThe drain line leading out of the system must be as
short as possible and slope downwards without any
kinks or loops.
yThe drain line plumbing must be position and secured
at least 2 inches above the drain (Figure 2. Proper
Drain Plumbing). This air gap protects the system from
contamination in the event of a backed-up drain.
yThe drain used must not be blocked or restricted.
yThe drain used must be as large or larger than the drain
line plumbing.

Permeate Line Plumbing
To ensure the highest quality and safest water, it is recom-
mended that a check valve (to prevent backow) be installed
in the water line after the permeate connection. This will help
prevent possible contamination of the lter system due to
other equipment downstream. The check valve (not supplied)
should be mounted close to the system outlet, and sized
properly for the plumbing line. Check with local codes for the
proper specication.
A shuto󰀨 valve (not supplied) should be installed in the ltered
water line leading from the system. The valve should be
mounted close to the system outlet and sized properly for the
plumbing line. This valve will allow for easier servicing and
future cartridge replacement.

Starting the Controller
1. Select the proper AC plug for your electrical outlet and
install it onto the power supply.
2. Plug the appropriate end of the power cord into the con-
troller.
3. Plug the other end of the power cord into the electrical outlet.
The LEDs on the controller will light up.
4. The controller automatically enters Flush Mode and the
Flush LED starts to ash.
5. When ushing is complete, the Flush LED will stop
ashing and one or more LEDs will remain lit, indicating
the unit has power and which interval is selected in the
controller.

Rinsing the Ultra Filter Cartridge
The Ultra Filter Cartridge must be rinsed before the system is
used to remove any air and protective solution.
NOTE: Ultra Filter Cartridge must be rinsed to drain
before use. Rinsing to drain removes storage solu-
tion and air. Do NOT rinse into carbon if present.

NOTE: Make sure the Carbon Block Cartridge is NOT
installed in the Carbon Housing.
1. Direct water from the Permeate Outlet to a drain.
2. Open the tap or faucet closest downstream to the lter
system.
3. Slowly open the inlet water valve and allow water to enter
the system.
4. Press the FLUSH button. The Drain Valve will open and
air and water will come out of the drain line. Repeat six
times to ensure all air and storage solution are ushed out
of the Ultra Filter Cartridge.
5. Allow water to continue to run through the system and out
the faucet for 15 minutes.
6. Inspect the unit for any leaks and repair as
needed.
7. After 15 minutes with water ow, close the tap or faucet
and let the system stand without water ow for 15 minutes
to allow trapped air to come out of the hollow bers of the
Ultra Filter Cartridge.
8. After 15 minutes without water ow, open the tap or faucet
for ve minutes to ush out the trapped air.
9. Close the tap or faucet.
10. Press the FLUSH button to open the Drain Valve. Repeat
six times to ensure any remaining air is ushed out of the
system.
Sanitizing the System and Lines
The plumbing must be sanitized to eliminate possible contami-
nation that may have occurred during the installation process.
One ounce (30 ml) of liquid chlorine bleach (regular bleach,
unscented 6% sodium hypochlorite) can be used to sanitize
the plumbing. The amount of bleach needed depends on
the system and the amount of plumbing downstream of the
system.
NOTE: Follow the handling and safety instructions
supplied with the bleach.
1. Follow the steps in the Rinsing the Ultra Filter Cartridge in
the Installation section of this manual.
2. Turn o󰀨 the water to the system.
3. Open the faucet or tap closest downstream to the
system.
4. Close the Inlet Water Valve and allow the system to
depressurize.
5. Place a bucket under the “T” or cross tting at the inlet con-
nection to the system. Open the inlet drain valve or unscrew
the cap to drain the system.
6. Press the FLUSH button to help drain the system.
7. When the water ow out of the inlet tting stops, close the
inlet drain valve and pour the liquid bleach into the inlet
connection tting. Be careful not to spill bleach onto cloth-
ing or skin. You may want to add the bleach using a cup.
Reattach the cap on the tting.
8. Slowly open the inlet water valve and allow water to ow
out of the tap until the smell of bleach is present.
9. Immediately close the tap and let the system stand with
no water ow for at least 15 minutes to allow the bleach to
sanitize the pipes.
10. After 15 minutes without water ow, open the tap and
ush until the presence of bleach is gone. All other taps
should be opened to ush any bleach from the plumbing.
Close the taps.
11. Press the FLUSH button to complete the ushing pro-
cess.

Installing and Rinsing the Carbon Element
The Carbon Element MUST be rinsed before using the
system the rst time.
1. Install the new Carbon Element into the Carbon Element
Housing.
2. Screw the Carbon Element Housing (containing the
Carbon Element) into place on the Carbon Element Head.
The housing will come to a hard stop at the end of the
thread. Use a Filter Wrench if necessary.
NOTE: Do NOT overtighten the Carbon Element Housing.
3. Direct water from the Permeate Outlet to a drain.
4. Turn on the water to the system by slowly opening the
inlet water valve.
5. Allow water to ow through the Carbon Element and
Carbon Element Housing to ush out trapped air and any
debris that may be present.
6. To help remove trapped air from the Carbon Element
Housing, press the RED Pressure Relief Button on the top
of the housing until water just begins to come out.
7. Rinse the Carbon Element for at least 5 minutes.
NOTE: Do NOT consume water used during this process.
8. The system is now ready for use.

Maintenance
Replacing the Ultra Filter Cartridge
1. Open the faucet or tap closest downstream to the ltration
system.
2. Close the Inlet Water Valve and allow the system to
depressurize.
3. Place a bucket under the strainer at the inlet connection
to the system. Open the strainer by unscrewing the cap.
Water will ow out of the strainer as the system drains.
4. Press the FLUSH button to help drain the system.
5. Reattach the cap on the strainer when the water ow
stops. Unplug the power cord.
6. Disconnect the Inlet Port and Drain Port Connections.
7. Disconnect the Permeate Outlet Connection.
8. Disconnect the system from the wall by lifting the unit up
from the mounting bracket and away from the wall.
9. Using a screwdriver, remove the screws from the Car-
tridge Clamps and set the clamps and screws aside.
10. Disconnect the Permeate Port Connection.
11. Unscrew the elbow at the drain port of the cartridge.
12. Remove the cartridge from the system.
13. Unscrew the elbow at the Inlet Port of the cartridge.
14. Using thread seal tape and pipe dope, attach the elbow
tting to the new cartridge and the inlet strainer to the inlet
end.
15. Insert the new cartridge into the housing.
16. Using thread seal tape and pipe dope, attach the elbow
and drain solenoid valve to the drain end of the cartridge.
NOTE: Do NOT overtighten the elbows on to the cartridge.
17. Using a screwdriver, tighten the cartridge clamp screws to
attach the cartridge to the housing.
18. Inspect the O-rings and seals to ensure they are clean
and not splitting or cut. For all O-rings and seals, ensure
they are lubricated with an approved food grade lubricant
acceptable for drinking water use.
19. Remove the Carbon Filter.
20. Connect the Permeate Port Connection.
21. Reattach the Inlet Port and Drain Port Connections.
22. Plug in the power cord.
23. Open the Inlet Water Valve and allow the system to pres-
surize.
24. Rinse the new Ultra Filter Cartridge before placing the
system back into operation. Follow the Rinsing the Ultra
Filter Cartridge and Sanitizing the System and Lines
procedures in the Installation section of this manual to
complete the cartridge change.
25. When rinsing is complete, repressurize the
system.

Rinsing and Replacing the Carbon Element
1. Open the faucet or tap closest downstream to the ltration
system.
2. Close the inlet water valve and allow the system to de-
pressurize.
3. Place a bucket under the strainer at the inlet connection
to the system. Open the strain by unscrewing the cap.
Water will ow out of the strainer as the system drains.
4. Press the FLUSH button to help drain the system.
5. Reattach the cap on the strainer when the water ow
stops. Unplug the power cord.
6. Press and hold the RED Pressure Relief Button on the top
of each of the Carbon Element Housing to lower the water
level inside the housing by 2 to 3 inches.
7. Remove the Carbon Element Housing.
8. Empty any water into a drain and discard the old Carbon
Element.
9. Inspect the O-ring on the Carbon Element Housing
(Figure 5). Replace the O-ring if it is cracked, twisted, or
missing.
10. Lubricate the O-ring with an approved food grade
lubricant and install into the Carbon Element Housing.
11. Install the new Carbon Element into the Carbon Element
Housing.
NOTE: Make sure the Gasket remains in place in the
recessed grooves on both ends of the Carbon
Element.
12. Screw the Carbon Element Housing (containing the
Carbon Element) into place on the Carbon Element Head.
The Housing will come to a hard stop at the end of the
thread. Use a Filter Wrench if necessary.
NOTE: Do NOT overtighten the Carbon Element Housing.
13. Plug in the power cord.
14. Open the inlet water valve and allow the system to pres-
surize.
15. To help remove trapped air from the Carbon Element
Housing, press the RED Pressure Relief button on the top
of the Housing until water just begins to come out.
16. Rinse the Carbon Element for at least 5 minutes.
NOTE: Do NOT consume the water used for rinsing the
Carbon Element.
17. The system is now ready for use.

System Sanitization
The system and downstream plumbing should be sanitized at
least once a year. When necessary, follow the procedure in
Sanitizing the System and Lines in the Installation section of
this manual.

Changing the Interval Setting
Resetting the Timer Program
During the normal operation, the system will ush according to
the set interval. It is possible the system will ush at a time of
high water use. If this poses a problem, the controller can be
reset. Unplug the power supply, wait for 5 seconds, and then
plug the power supply in. When power is restored to the con-
troller, it will automatically enter Flush Mode. The controller will
then begin timing from the point when power is restored based
on the interval setting selected.

Caution
Changing the ush interval can cause the Ultra Filter to plug
prematurely and may reduce the life of the lter. Consult the
factory for more information.
Though not recommended, the Interval Setting on the
controller can be changed. If the setting must be changed,
use the chart below. Press and hold the corresponding button.
After 5 seconds, the Button LED will turn on. After 10 seconds,
the Flush LED will turn on.

Limited Warranty
Equipment manufactured by Antunes has been constructed of the finest materials available and manu-
factured to high quality standards. These units are warranted to be free from defects in materials and
workmanship for a period of one year from date of purchase under normal use and service, and when
installed in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations*. The ultra filtration membrane cartridge
is warranted under the same terms and conditions on a prorated basis for 24 months from date of pur-
chase.
*To ensure continued proper operation of the units, follow the maintenance procedure outlined in the
Owner’s Manual.
1. This warranty does not cover failures due to improper system installation, defects caused by improper
storage or handling prior to placing of the equipment into service. This warranty does not include over-
time charges or work done by unauthorized service agencies or personnel. This warranty does not cover
normal maintenance, calibration, or regular adjustments as specified in operating and maintenance
instructions of this manual, and/or labor involved in moving adjacent objects to gain access to the Equip-
ment.
2. Antunes reserves the right to make changes in design or add any improvements on any product. The
right is always reserved to modify equipment because of factors beyond our control and government
regulations. Changes to update equipment do not constitute a warranty charge.
3. If shipment is damaged in transit, the purchaser should make a claim directly upon the carrier. Careful
inspection should be made of the shipment as soon as it arrives and visible damage should be noted
upon the carrier’s documentation. Damage should be reported to the carrier. This damage is not cov-
ered under this warranty.
