1 Safety
1.1 Meaning of the symbols used in this manual
WARNING
It precedes important warnings for personal and environmental safety.
DANGER OF ELECTROCUTION
It precedes information on the danger of electric shocks.
CAUTION
It precedes important warnings for product safety or the material goods connected to it.
NOTE
It precedes information considered particularly useful.
1.2 General safety warnings
NOTE
xThe traction cable is coiled inside a drum, powered by a safety extra-low voltage (SELV) 24
Vcc motor, observing the ITC-BT-31 low voltage regulation (Electrotechnical regulation for
low voltage for installations for special purposes, swimming pools and fountains) for
swimming pools, capable of reaching a maximum output of 750 W.
xThe step is operated by an AISI-316 stainless steel cable.
xThe control system consists of an electronic board that manages the movements of the moving
step as well as the operating sensors.

Disconnect the power supplies during electrical assembly of the device.

WARNING
xKeep this manual in a safe place and within reach of the operator.
xThe electrical installation should be carried out by professional staff qualified in electrical
installations.
xThis device is not designed for people with physical, sensory or mental disabilities to the
point that they do not understand how the device works and the precautions that have to be
taken to use it, unless they are supervised or have been given instructions on how to use it
by a safety manager. Waterlift users should be fit enough to be able to stand upright out of
the water and safely hold the device handrails.
xChildren or adults are not allowed to lean or sit on the device. Supervise children to ensure
that they do not play with the device.

A
lways install the Waterlift together with a conventional ladder. Never use the Waterlift as
the only method for getting into the swimming pool.
xFor installation, follow current local or national regulations, particularly concerning the step
position, safety distances and electrical regulations in swimming pools or similar.
xIf special problems arise during installation, contact the distributor.

2 Introduction
General features
Waterlift is a device to make it easier to get into and out of a swimming pool.
Waterlift is a machine designed as an accessory for any type of swimming pool and user. One of its main
applications is for people with reduced mobility, and even people with a non-dependent disability. It is
designed to provide greater ease and comfort for the bather to get into and out of the swimming pool.
WARNING
Waterlift can lift a maximum load of 140 kg from its minimum to maximum position.
The Waterlift structure is made out of AISI-316 Ø 43 mm stainless steel tube to guarantee longer product
durability, thus preventing rusting and the action of chemicals used in swimming pools. For greater safety
and user comfort, the surfaces of non-structural plastic parts have been made with a non-slip surface.
The Waterlift is operated simply and safely using two double push-buttons strategically positioned on the
handrail:
xAt the top, outside the swimming pool, for the bather to get into the swimming pool.
xAt the bottom, on the edge of the swimming pool, for the bather to get out.
The lift's ergonomically-designed step gives the user the feeling of being comfortable and safe, therefore:
xSoles of the feet adapt to the step base without the possibility of slipping thanks to its non-slip surface.
xIt does not rub against the side of the swimming pool or with the lifting guides thanks its flexible
guards.
NOTE
A DVD with a promotional video of the APSignature products comes with this manual, with an
example of how to install the Waterlift. The installation shown in the example may not apply to your
swimming pool. Consult section 6 for the Waterlift installation.
3 Supply from the factory
The Waterlift is supplied from the factory as one package with two parts. To prevent damage during
transport and handling, it is supplied with a strong corrugated cardboard packaging, strapped to a long
wooden pallet. The total size of the package is 1000 x 2600 x 1410 mm.

WARNING
Possible injuries and/or damage to the unit. The unit should be moved and handled by at least 2 to
3 persons.
6 Installation
6.1 Necessary tools and components
The tools and components required for carrying out a correct and safe installation are listed below:
xElectric drill.
xØ 10 mm bit and conical bit for plastic.
xOpen-ended spanner kit.
xAllen key kit.
xScrewdrivers.
xWork gloves.
xPliers to crimp terminals.
xPressure pliers.
xLong-nose pliers.
x2 sets of metal plug and screw DIN-571 Ø 8x70.
xSpirit level.
xSafety goggles.
xTwo-wire cable with minimum section of 6 mm2each. H07RN-2X6 mm2recommended.
x4.8 mm adaptor terminals.
xFastening plastic flanges.
xCorrugated protective tube.
xBushing with suitable inner diameter for the chosen mains supply hose.
6.2 Before installation
NOTE
Due to the possible multiple swimming pool configurations where the Waterlift can be installed, the
indications in this manual are general and leave the details for the appropriate fastening and
connection of the supplied components up to the installer.

DANGER OF ELECTROCUTION
xConnect the electric cabinet to an earthed, 230 Vac and 50/ 60 Hz power point, protected by a
differential switch (RCD) with a rated residual operating current that does not exceed 30 mA.
xInclude a magnetothermal protective device in the power point according to current national
or local standards for the device's power output.
xThe supplied power cabinet has a power supply protection of 20 A for protecting the safety
extra-low voltage (SELV), but does not protect the 230 V installation.
xAlways use a multiple disconnection device with a minimum separation of 3 mm between
contacts to disconnect the device from the power supply.
xPay special attention to correctly connecting the equipotential power point to the device
structure, and the separation of the equipotential power point and earth connection.
xNever connect the mains supply to the swimming pool structure or equipotential power point.
WARNING
To guarantee a correct and safe installation of the Waterlift:
xRead and understand everything included in this manual.
xCheck that the surface where the installation is going to be carried out is totally stable and
flat.
xCarry out the installation in the easiest and best way if the surface is paved (concrete,
ceramic slab, stoneware, etc.). If the surface is wooden, fix the structure underneath it,
directly to the paved surface it lies on or is fixed to.
xLook for a position to access the swimming pool where there are no protruding elements
(submerged wall, built-in ladder, vertex, diving board, etc.) at least 1.5 m from any of the lift's
moving or fixed elements.
xLook for where to position the electric cabinet bearing in mind that it should not be located
more than 20 m away.
xUse two-wire cable with a minimum section of 6 mm2H07RN-2X6 mm2type or equivalent
for the cable to connect the power cabinet and handling cabinet, protected by a corrugated
tube that is embedded up to the electric cabinet.
WARNING
Follow current local or national regulations concerning the step position, safety distances and
electrical regulations for swimming pools or similar.

6.3 Waterlift installation
6.3.1 Paving check
To start to install the Waterlift:
xCheck that the paved surfaced surrounding the swimming pool is totally flat.
CAUTION
Possible damage to the device. Guarantee levelness in swimming pools with any type of slope.

xGuarantee levelness using accessories fastened to the base and paving, or any other
definitive building work solution.

6.3.2 Verticality check
The bottom of the Waterlift (end submerged in the water) should be supported, without any stress, by the
surface of the swimming pool wall.
xGuarantee the right angle between the Waterlift vertical guides and the structure fastened to the
paving.

CAUTION
xIn swimming pools where this wall does not exist, or is not parallel to the guides and to
prevent the unit from being damaged in any way, introduce a building work solution (for
example: built wall, stainless steel box or plastic plug fastened to the pool wall, etc.) to
guarantee this support and the perpendicular position to the Waterlift structure fastened to
the paving.
6.3.3 Unpacking
After choosing and fitting out the final position for the device:
1. Remove the cardboard packaging that has protected the unit during transport.
2. Cut the fastening clamps to release the Waterlift from the pallet and the bottom cover of the packaging.
3. Move the Waterlift to its final position with two or three operators.
6.3.4 Structure fastening
After unpacking the device, the structure can be started to be fastened. To do so:
1. Align the lift to the wall. Check that the wall is perpendicular to the ground on the installation point and
that the device is positioned in the same way on all the support points, as well as being totally flat.
With the Waterlift unloaded, check that the distance between the bottom support of the guide
handrails of the moving step and the wall is 0 to 5 mm, and the support should not be pressed
against the wall at any time.

2. On the final position mark the position of the two perforations (10x60 mm), using the holes on the lift
structure as a template.
NOTE
The Waterlift fastenings to the ground should be as near to the end of the structure as possible.

3. Make two holes on the surface of the swimming pool edge with a drill using a Ø10 mm bit.
NOTE
Drill the paving with a smaller diameter bit at the end and then drill again with the Ø10 mm bit to
prevent problems with the plug tolerance and subsequent fastening.
4. Use DIN-571 Ø 8x70 metal plugs and screws for fastening. Insert the metal plugs in the holes made
in the paving and place the supplied support plastic plug underneath the lift structure.
5. Insert the screws through the structure fastening holes and screw the structure to the paving.

6.3.5 Wiring
For the subsequent wiring of the lift to the electric supply cabinet situated in the swimming pool's technical
housing:
1. Make a trench in the paving to house the power supply cable (protected by a corrugated cable tube).
2. Bury the corrugated tube with the cable.
3. Cover with cement.

6.4 Electrical connection
DANGER OF ELECTROCUTION
Make sure that the power supply box is disconnected before carrying out any electric connection
operation. If it is connected to the mains, make sure that the main external power switch is off.
6.4.1 Power supply box connection
To wire the power supply box, follow the steps indicated below:
1. Strip 40 mm of the two wire cable on the end to be connected, stripping the two cables enough to be
able to crimp the terminals to the copper wire at the same time.
2. Pass the cable through the corrugated tube and then through the corresponding bushing.
3. Connect the terminals to the connection strip.
4. Connect to the strip.

6.4.2 Control box location
To carry out the control box electrical wiring, follow the steps indicated below:
1. Strip 40 mm of the two wire cable on the end to be connected, stripping the two cables enough to be
able to crimp the terminals to the copper wire at the same time.
2. Make a hole, bearing in mind the configuration and the route chosen for the power cable conduit, on
the bottom or left-hand side of the motor cover using a drill with a conical bit.

3. Use a cutter to remove any surplus burrs.
NOTE
A
dapt the hole to the chosen bushing, with an inner diameter sized according to the section of
cable used.
4. Install the bushing and pass the cable covered with corrugated tube through it.
5. Inside the motor cover, pass the cable behind the electric motor, trying to prevent touching it, and
keeping a minimum distance of 10 mm between the cable and pulling mechanism. If necessary,
flange the two-wire cable to ensure this route and the indicated safety distance.
6. Remove the control box cover by unscrewing the six fixing screws with a suitable screwdriver, as the
power supply box inside the control cabinet is supplied closed.
7. Connect the two terminals to the control box, making sure that their polarity coincides with the polarity
of the strip terminals inside the power box, as can be observed in figure 12.
WARNING
The electronic board may be damaged. Always maintain the same polarity between the power
supply box terminals and the control box terminals.

7 Start-up
7.1 Turning the device on
DANGER OF ELECTROCUTION
xPay special attention to the proper connection of the equipotential power point to the device
power point (Refer to Fig. 13).
xNever connect the mains supply to the swimming pool structure or equipotential power point.
CAUTION
Before turning the device on, release the fastening flange (fastened to one of the lift guides to
prevent unwanted movement during transport) to lock the Waterlift moving step.
CAUTION
When the lift is operated for the first time, nobody should stand on the moving step, nor should any
weight be put on it until it has reached its top position.

To turn it on:
xAfter connecting the unit to the 24 V power supply cabinet, and the latter to the 230 V current line,
unlock the power supply cabinet using the switch (main switch) on its side.

7.2 Calibration of the bottom stop position
To set this bottom step position to a value other than the factory default setting, proceed as follows:
1. Open the control box cover.
2. Press the up and down buttons of the lift's moving step, inside the control electric box (B and C), to
the required position.
DANGER OF ELECTROCUTION
Calibrate without anybody in the pool, with totally dry hands and opening the control box for just
the time necessary to carry out the operation.
CAUTION
The unit may be damaged when calibrating the up and down buttons. If the maximum lower travel
point is exceeded, the pulling cable is loosened and damaged. Do not exceed the maximum travel
points.

3. Press the programming button (A) on the control box.
4. Close the control box cover by screwing the six screws.

CAUTION
The control box electronics may be irreparably damaged if liquids or vapours enter the box. On
closing the cover, do not pinch the neoprene gasket on the outer perimeter of the cover and make
sure that the gasket is pressed evenly so that the closing is airtight.
8 Waterlift use
NOTE
yFor greater user comfort, the Waterlift has two sets of operating buttons (up/down), at two
different heights on the left handrail, in the direction of use: one at the top (to get into the
pool) and another in the middle (to get out of the pool).
yThe moving step operation can be aborted at any time by simply pressing any of the buttons.
When the step has stopped, and to restart the movement, push the up button to go up or the
down button to go down.
