Avaya IX Huddle Camera HC020 Highlights
The Avaya HC020 is part of the huddle room kit for laptop, that can be obtained combining different
products:
•Avaya HC020 Huddle Camera or Avaya HC050 Huddle Camera
•Avaya speakerphone B109
•Avaya OCC hub
The above products, connected to a laptop and a display, thanks to OCC hub, turn your office in a
small videoconference room, leveraging the Equinox Client features, or any third-party cloud
conferencing client.
Specs of HC020 are as follows: a full HD USB fixed camera, leveraging the quality of a UltraHD 4K
sensor to provide a high quality 1080p30 video signal, with digital Pan Tilt Zoom (1080p resolution
up to 2x zoom, 720p @3x zoom), and the option to send uncompressed signal on HDMI.
Camera can be controlled from the XT, or from its own remote control.

Avaya HC020 setup and firmware version
Please refer to the quick setup guide for a detailed setup description in a standard huddle room scenario, with
a laptop (Windows or Mac), or with XT Series.
Connecting HC020 to a laptop
Connect the HC020 to the USB3 port of your laptop.
Connecting the camera to a USB2 port may bring an insufficient power to the camera, and does not
guarantee a proper behavior in all the possible scenarios and all possible laptop models.
Launch the Equinox Client (or a third party conferencing application)
Select the device “Avaya HC020” as video source.
Connecting HC020 to an XT unit
Please connect the camera as shown in the figure below.
Important
Connect the camera’s USB cable to the upper USB slot of your XT device.

•Check USB camera being enabled in
[GUI] CONFIGURE >ADVANCED >I/O CONNECTIONS >CAMERA >USB> ENABLE
•Avaya HC020 Camera can be used as first or additional camera on your XT4300,
XT5000, and XT7100. If using HC020 as first camera, you should enable it as Default
Camera in
[GUI] CONFIGURE >ADVANCED >I/O CONNECTIONS >CAMERAS>GENERAL>DEFAULT CAMERA:USB
Important
When using the camera’s embedded mic, please note that it is not able to detect the
automatic acoustic pairing sound used in the Screen Link, Mobile Link and Scopia Control
app pairing.
What’s new in this firmware version
This new firmware version improves the video quality (backlight compensation & white balance) and provides a
reliable firmware upgrade procedure.
Documentation and upgrade files
You can download the firmware and all the product technical documentation from the Avaya Support Website
following the below steps.
•Go to https://support.avaya.com/documents/
•Type ‘Avaya IX Huddle Cameras’ or part of it in the Product Name field
•Choose Release HC020 8.1.x from the pulldown menu
•The firmware can be downloaded from the “Downloads” section, whereas the “Product Documents”
tab brings you to all the available technical documentation.

Firmware upgrade using a Windows based PC
You can upgrade your camera with a new software version following below steps.
Connect the camera USB 3.0 interface to a Personal Computer (better a Laptop to avoid power
interruption). Connecting the camera to a USB2 port may bring an insufficient power to the camera, and
damage camera during download process.
Check the software version installed on the camera by using its remote control.
Important
If the menu activated on the camera by its remote control is in Chinese, it is possible to select
the English version following the steps shown in below pictures using camera remote.
To read the software version, select Menu, Information and look at the Version entry. In this particular
case the software version of the camera is 8.1.69.
Browse the “‘Avaya Avaya IX Huddle Cameras” section of the support website, as described in the
previous chapter, select the latest available software version and download the USB package and/or
Software package ZIP file.

How to use the Upgrade Utility
Important
Extract folder from zip file into laptop, and launch the “Avaya Cam Upgrade Utility V.1.1.0.43”
Total time to HC020 camera firmware upgrade is less than 5 minutes
Click on Auto Upgrade button
Depending on firmware version installed into the HC020, camera software tool will show necessary
software packages to install
Coming from firmware version prior to 8.1.67 Coming from firmware version 8.1.67 or next

After about 1 minute, the progressive blue bar will reach 90% position
It is important to not disconnect USB cable and wating for message “Upgrade is completed!”
It will be visible new software release (SOC Version) updated.
Restart camera manually after upgrading completed (disconnecting USB cable and re-connecting).
