Topreventnetworeavesdropping,therootpasswordcanbesetviaanencryptedHTTPSconnection,whichrequiresanHTTPS
certicate.HTTPS(HypertextTransferProtocoloverSSL)isaprotocolusedtoencrypttrafcbetweenwebbrowsersandservers.The
HTTPScerticateensuresencryptedexchangeofinformation.SeeHTTPonpage49.
Thedefaultadministratorusernamerootispermanentandcannotbedeleted.Ifthepasswordforrootislost,theproductmustbe

TosetthepasswordviaastandardHTTPconnection,enteritdirectlyinthedialog.

Selectthepowerlinefrequency(50Hzor60Hz)usedatthelocationoftheAxisproduct.Selectingthewrongfrequencymaycause
imageiceriftheproductisusedinuorescentlightenvironments.
Whenusing50Hz,themaximumframerateislimitedto25fps.

Powerlinefrequencyvariesdependingongeographicregion.TheAmericasusuallyuse60Hz,whereasmostotherpartsof

TheAudioclipdrop-downlistallowsyoutoplayanaudioclipfromtheLiveViewpage.Selectthe
audioclipandclicthePlaybutton.
Theproduct’sfaniscontrolledbytheambienttemperatureandisturnedonandoffautomatically.If
required,thefancanbeactivatedmanuallybyclicingtheFanbutton.Toshowthebutton,goto
Setup>LiveViewCong.UnderActionButtons,selectShowfanbuttonandspecifythenumberof
minutesthefanshouldbeactivated.

TheLiveViewpageintheproductprovidesaccesstoH.264andMotionJPEGvideostreams,audiostreamsandtothelistofavailable
streamproles.Otherapplicationsandclientscanaccessvideoandaudiostreamsdirectly,withoutgoingviatheLiveViewpage.
HowtoStreamH.264
H.264can,withoutcompromisingimagequality,reducethesizeofadigitalvideolebymorethan80%comparedwiththeMotion
JPEGformatandasmuchas50%morethantheMPEG-4standard.Thismeansthatmuchlessnetworbandwidthandstoragespace
arerequiredforavideole.Orseenanotherway,muchhighervideoqualitycanbeachievedforagivenbitrate.
Decidingwhichcombinationofprotocolsandmethodstousedependsonyourviewingrequirements,andonthepropertiesof

ThebitratecanbesetasVariablebitrate(VBR)orMaximumbitrate(MBR).VBRadjuststhebitrateaccordingtotheimage
complexity,usingupmorebandwidthforincreasedactivityintheimage,andlessforlowerimageactivity.Whentheactivityin
thesceneincreases,thebitratewouldusuallyincreaseaswell.Ifthereisasurplusinbandwidth,thismaynotbeanissueand
selectingVariablebitrate(VBR)willbesufcient.Butifbandwidthislimited,itisrecommendedtocontrolthebitratebyselecting
Maximumbitrate(MBR).Whentheactivityinthesceneincreases,VBRadjuststhebitrateaccordingtothecomplexity,usingup
morebandwidthforincreasedactivityinthescene,andlessforlowersceneactivity.MBRallowsyoutosetatargetbitratethat
limitsthebandwidthconsumption.
TheMBRtargetbitrateworslietheceilingofatent.Itlimitsthebitrate,whilemaintainingsomeexibility.Thebitrate
maybounceupanddownwithinthesettargetbutwhenitnearsthesettargetvalue,thelimitationicsin.However,because
MBRwillalwaysprioritizeacontinuousvideostream,itallowstemporaryovershootsfromthetargetbitrate.Becausesettinga
