Thedevicepasswordistheprimaryprotectionforyourdataandservices.Axisdevicesdonotimposeapasswordpolicyasthey
maybeusedinvarioustypesofinstallations.
Toprotectyourdatawestronglyrecommendthatyou:

•Don’texposethepassword.

Theexposuremodesareonlyavailableforthevisualchannel.
Therearedifferentexposuremodeoptionsinthecamerathatadjustsaperture,shutterspeed,andgaintoimproveimagequalityfor
specicsurveillancescenes.GotoSettings>Image>Exposureandselectbetweenthefollowingexposuremodes:
•Formostusecases,selectAutomaticexposure.
•Forenvironmentswithcertainarticiallighting,forexampleuorescentlighting,selectlicker-free.
Selectthesamefrequencyasthepowerlinefrequency.
•Forenvironmentswithcertainarticiallightandbrightlight,forexampleoutdoorswithuorescentlightingatnightand
sunduringdaytime,selectlicker-reduced.
Selectthesamefrequencyasthepowerlinefrequency.

•Adjustthetrade-offbetweennoiseandmotionblur.GotoSettings>Image>ExposureandmovetheBlur-noise
trade-offslidertowardLownoise.
•Settheexposuremodetoautomatic.

Ahighmaxshuttervaluecanresultinmotionblur.
•Toslowdowntheshutterspeed,setmaxshuttertothehighestpossiblevalue.

Handlesceneswithstrongbacklight
Dynamicrangeisthedifferenceinlightlevelsinanimage.Insomecasesthedifferencebetweenthedarkestandthebrightest
areascanbesignicant.Theresultisoftenanimagewhereeitherthedarkorthebrightareasarevisible.Widedynamicrange
(WDR)makesbothdarkandbrightareasoftheimagevisible.

Thevisualchannelusesvisiblelighttodelivercolorimagesduringtheday.Withexternalilluminators,thevisualchannelcanbeused
alsoduringthenight.Toturnontheilluminatorswhenitgetsdarkandturnthemoffwhenitgetslight:
1.GotoSettings>System>Accessories.
2.UnderExternalilluminators,selectthetypeoflightcomingfromeachoftheilluminators.
3.TurnonUseilluminators.
4.GotoImage>DayandnightandmakesurethattheIR-cutlterissettoAuto.
5.Todetermineatwhatlightlevelyouwanttheilluminatorstoturnonandoff,movetheThresholdslidertowardBright
orDark.
6.TurnonAllowilluminationandSynchronizeillumination.

Iftherearepartsofthescenethatyoudon’twantthecameratoreach,youcanlimitthepan,tilt,andzoommovements.For
example,youwanttoprotecttheprivacyofresidentsinanapartmentbuilding,whichislocatedclosetoaparkinglotthatyouintend
tomonitor.Tolimitthemovements,gotoSettings>PTZ>Limits.
Createaguardtourwithpresetpositions
Aguardtourdisplaysthevideostreamfromdifferentpresetpositionseitherinapredeterminedorrandomorder,andforcongurable
periodsoftime.
