Thedevicepasswordistheprimarprotectionforthedataandservices.Axisdevicesdonotimposeapasswordpolicasthemabe
usedinvarioustpesofinstallations.Toprotectourdatawerecommendthatou:
•Changethedefaultpasswordthatcomeswiththedevices.
•Useapasswordwithatleast8characters,preferablcreatedbapasswordgenerator.
•Don’texposethepassword.

Whatisaprivacymask?
Aprivacmaskisauser-denedareathatpreventsusersfromviewingapartofthemonitoredarea.Inthevideostream,privac
masksappearasblocksofsolidcolororblurredimageelements.
You’llseetheprivacmaskonallsnapshots,recordedvideo,andlivestreams.
YoucanusetheVAPIX®applicationprogramminginterface(API)toturnofftheprivacmasks.

Usingmultipleprivacmasksmaaffecttheproduct’sperformance.

Toreducenoiseinlow-lightconditions,oucanadjustoneormoreofthefollowingsettings:
•Makesurethattheexposuremodeisautomatic.

Increasingthemaxshuttervaluecanresultinmotionblur.
•Theshutterspeedshouldbeasslowaspossible,whichmeansoushouldsetmaxshuttertothehighestpossiblevalue.
•Reducesharpnessintheimage.
•Trloweringthemaxgainvalue.
HowtobenetfromIRlightinlow-lightconitionsusingnightmoe
Yourcamerausesvisiblelighttodelivercolorimagesduringtheda.Aslightdiminishes,oucansetthecameratoautomaticall
shifttonightmode.Innightmodethecamerausesbothvisiblelightandnear-infraredlighttodeliverblack-and-whiteimages.
Sincethecamerausesmoreoftheavailablelightitcandeliverbrighter,moredetailed,images.

Therearedifferentexposuremodeoptionsinthecamerathatadjustsaperture,shutterspeed,andgaintoimproveimagequalitfor
specicsurveillancescenes.GotoSettings>mage>Exposureandselectbetweenthefollowingexposuremodes:
•Formostusecases,selectAutomaticexposure.
•Forenvironmentswithcertainarticiallighting,forexampleuorescentlighting,selectFlicker-free.
Selectthesamefrequencasthepowerlinefrequenc.
•Forenvironmentswithcertainarticiallightandbrightlight,forexampleoutdoorswithuorescentlightingatnightand
sunduringdatime,selectFlicker-reduced.
Selectthesamefrequencasthepowerlinefrequenc.
•Tolockthecurrentexposuresettings,selectHoldcurrent.
HowtostabilizeashakyimagewithElectronicImageStabilization(EIS)
EIScanbeusedinenvironmentswheretheproductismountedinanexposedlocationandsubjecttovibrations,forexample,wind
orpassingtrafc.TurnonEIStogetasmootherandsteadierimagewithoutblur.
EISalsoreducesthelesizeofthecompressedimageandlowersthebitrateofthevideostream.

Tobetterrecognizethelicenseplateofacarpassingbthecamera,oucanapplandadjustanumberofthings.
Oneoptionistousethepixelcounterinourcameratosettheoptimalpixelresolution:
1.GotoSettings>System>Orientationandclick.
2.Adjustthesizeandplacementoftherectangleinthecamera’sliveviewaroundtheareaofinterest,forexample
wherethelicenseplatesofpassingcarsareexpectedtoappear.Youcanthenseethenumberofpixelsrepresentedb
thesidesoftherectangle.

Youcanuseanobjectofaknownsizeintheviewasareferencetodecidehowmuchresolutionisneededforrecognition.

ToensuresupportfortheOpusaudiocodec,theMotionJPEGstreamisalwassentoverRTP.
MotionJPEGorMJPEGisadigitalvideosequencethatismadeupofaseriesofindividualJPEGimages.Theseimagesarethen
displaedandupdatedataratesufcienttocreateastreamthatshowsconstantlupdatedmotion.Fortheviewertoperceivemotion
videotheratemustbeatleast16imageframespersecond.Fullmotionvideoisperceivedat30(NTSC)or25(PAL)framespersecond.
TheMotionJPEGstreamusesconsiderableamountsofbandwidth,butprovidesexcellentimagequalitandaccesstoeverimage
containedinthestream.
H.264orMPEG-4Part10/AVC
Note
H.264isalicensedtechnolog.TheAxisproductincludesoneH.264viewingclientlicense.Installingadditionalunlicensed
copiesoftheclientisprohibited.Topurchaseadditionallicenses,contactourAxisreseller.
H.264can,withoutcompromisingimagequalit,reducethesizeofadigitalvideolebmorethan80%comparedtotheMotion
JPEGformatandbasmuchas50%comparedtotheMPEG-4standard.Thismeansthatlessnetworkbandwidthandstoragespace
arerequiredforavideole.Orseenanotherwa,highervideoqualitcanbeachievedforagivenbitrate.

Resettofactordefaultshouldbeusedwithcaution.Aresettofactordefaultresetsallsettings,includingtheIPaddress,to
thefactordefaultvalues.
Toresettheproducttothefactordefaultsettings:
1.Disconnectpowerfromtheproduct.
2.Pressandholdthecontrolbuttonwhilereconnectingpower.SeeProductoverviewonpage5.
3.Keepthecontrolbuttonpressedfor15–30secondsuntilthestatusLEDindicatorashesamber.
4.Releasethecontrolbutton.TheprocessiscompletewhenthestatusLEDindicatorturnsgreen.Theproducthasbeenreset
tothefactordefaultsettings.IfnoDHCPserverisavailableonthenetwork,thedefaultIPaddressis192.168.0.90

Ifouexperienceproblemsafterarmwareupgrade,rollbacktothepreviouslinstalledversion
fromtheMaintenancepage.
ProblemssettingthePaddress
Theproductislocatedona
differentsubnet
IftheIPaddressintendedfortheproductandtheIPaddressofthecomputerusedtoaccessthe
productarelocatedondifferentsubnets,oucannotsettheIPaddress.Contactournetwork
administratortoobtainanIPaddress.
TheIPaddressisbeingused
banotherdevice
DisconnecttheAxisproductfromthenetwork.Runthepingcommand(inaCommand/DOS
window,tpepingandtheIPaddressoftheproduct):
•Ifoureceive:Replyfrom<IPaddress>:bytes=32;time=10...
thismeansthattheIPaddressmaalreadbeinusebanotherdeviceonthenetwork.
ObtainanewIPaddressfromthenetworkadministratorandreinstalltheproduct.
•Ifoureceive:Requesttimedout,thismeansthattheIPaddressisavailable
forusewiththeAxisproduct.Checkallcablingandreinstalltheproduct.
PossibleIPaddressconict
withanotherdeviceonthe
samesubnet
ThestaticIPaddressintheAxisproductisusedbeforetheDHCPserversetsadnamicaddress.
ThismeansthatifthesamedefaultstaticIPaddressisalsousedbanotherdevice,therema
beproblemsaccessingtheproduct.
Theproductcannotbeaccessedfromabrowser
CannotloginWhenHTTPSisenabled,ensurethatthecorrectprotocol(HTTPorHTTPS)isusedwhenattempting
