TheAzureWave802.11b/gUSB WLAN Moduleisan easy-to-usewireless localareanetwork
(WLAN)adapterwhichisdesignedforhomeorofficeuse.DirectSequenceSpreadSpectrum
(DSSS), ComplementaryCodeKeying(CCK), and OrthogonalFrequencyDivisionMultiplexing
(OFDM)basebandprocessing areimplementedtosupportall IEEE802.11b,and 802.11gdata
rates.Differentialphaseshiftkeying modulationschemes,DBPSK andDQPSK withdata
scramblingcapability,areavailable, alongwithcomplementarycodekeying toprovidedata
ratesof1, 2,5.5,and11Mbps,withlongorshort preamble.Ahigh-speedFast Fourier
Transform(FFT)/InverseFastFourierTransform(IFFT)combinedwithBPSK, QPSK, 16QAM

Theutility application ofAzureWaveRTL8187 Wireless LANUSB 2.0Adapterautomatically
searchesandreportsthehotspotsaround itandthewireless signalqualityandWEPcapability
associatedwitheachhotspot. Then youcouldconnect tothemostsuitablewirelessnode

Thebiggestdifferencebetween
infrastructuremode and ad-hocmodeis
that it includesanaccesspoint. In
infrastructuremode, an accesspoint
establishesthenetworkthat provides
wirelesslinksinthe validatingrangefor
clientsto communicatewitheachotheror
withawired networktotheinternet. Onan
infrastructurenetwork,the access point
maymanagethebandwidthtomaximizeutilization. Infrastructurenetworking hasthefollowing
advantagesoverad-hocnetworking:

Eachwireless LANenabledcomputerwithinthe range oftheaccesspointcancommunicate
withotherwirelessLAN enabledcomputerswithinthe validrangeof signalfromtheaccess
point.

accesspoint toanotherwithout losing connection totheLAN. Aquickassociation

Installing theantenna:
l LocatethewirelessLAN antenna port on themotherboard
rearpanel.
l Connecttheantennatwist-onconnector(female)tothe
wireless LAN antenna port(male)
l Placethe antenna atanelevatedlocationtoenhanceyour
wireless LANvalidcoverage.
