• Compact, High Fidelity, High Output
• Ultra-Wide Horizontal Coverage
• Broad Frequency ange
• Long Throw
• Line-Array Performance from Pairs
• 1500Watt Class D Powersoft Amplifier
• Integrated Comprehensive Digital Processing
• Exceptional Sound Quality
The DV8 is an elegant and extremely versatile
loudspeaker that delivers a remarkable combination
of flat frequency response, high output, broad
coverage and long throw from a very compact,
lightweight and visually attractive loudspeaker.
The DV8 is an extraordinarily versatile loudspeaker for the
professional who needs high-quality sound with outstanding
audience coverage. The DV8 provides excellent speech
intelligibility, extremely wide dispersion, even sound projection
over distance and ultra high-fidelity music reproduction. The
cabinets are small, light, attractive, unobtrusive and they can get
really loud. If these things are important to you, the DV8 is the
single best loudspeaker to have atop your tripods.
Frequency response that is +-1.5dB from 45 to 18,000 Hz. The
DV8 processing includes 4 presets. Preset 1 allows them to be
used in stand-alone mode as full-range speakers for smaller
events and offers LF response to 45Hz. Preset 2 can be used for
speech and music with or without a subwoofer. Presets 3 and 4
are intended for use with subs. Each higher preset provides
slightly less LF output from the DV8 but increases the maximum
SPL the DV8 can achieve, so the more subwoofer output you
have available, the higher the preset number you use.
Self-powered by a 1500W amplifier, the DV8 can run on mains
voltage from 90 to 250V, and is compatible with all power
supplies worldwide. The extensive amplification makes it
capable of extremely high output, with a full and rich presence.
Providing remarkable output for a speaker of its size, the DV8
can replace much larger, heavier cabinets.
Ideal for the mobile professional who moves gear on a regular
basis, the handles incorporated in the sides, top and bottom of
the cabinet extend past the amplifier to protect it in transit. With
handles designed for ergonomic and balanced transport, it is
very easy to handle. The cabinet is compact, only 22” high x 18”
deep, weighs just 42 pounds and is made entirely of Baltic Birch
in the USA.
Ultra-wide horizontal coverage of 120 degrees helps to provide
consistent, intelligible coverage to audience areas that are to the
far left and right, outside the coverage of ordinary portable
loudspeakers. This extremely wide coverage is made possible
through the use of a line-array waveguide, which, along with the
vertical alignment of the drivers, helps to constrain vertical
coverage to a nominal 15 degrees. The tight vertical pattern

provides more consistent coverage over greater distances and
minimize s ceiling and floor reflections, enhancing intelligibility.
The DV8 uses a narrow midrange driver to maintain the widest
possible horizontal dispersion through the midrange. Rather than
using one 12" or one 15" woofer, two 8" drivers are used because
they offer a combination of wide horizontal dispersion and good low-
frequency response while using minimal cabinet volume. The 8-inch
drivers have octagonal cast aluminum baskets so they can be
mounted directly adjacent to each other, minimizing cabinet frontal
area.
The high frequency wave guide is mounted forward of the
loudspeaker baffle and above the grill to minimize edge diffraction
and deliver consistent and extended horizontal dispersion. It's also
mounted at the very extreme top edge of the cabinet, which allows
a second box to be inverted on the first for seamless summing of the
high-frequencies, delivering line-array performance when two boxes
are coupled. When a second box is added, the adjustments in the
linkage allow for 4-degrees down through 4-degrees up on the
second box.
Cabinet construction incorporates a 4-degree down-angle when
deployed on a pole stand or resting on a flat surface, so the cabinet
is automatically at the appropriate downward angle to cover a large
room while maintaining outstanding near field sound quality. The
down-angle ensures even coverage over the additional distance
afforded by the tight vertical coverage pattern and the line-array
wave guide.
Seamless Coupling and Line-Array performance from pairs. Unlike
almost every other speaker in this market, two DV8s can be coupled
together, delivering 4 times the output with no loss of sound quality.
Conventional speakers don't couple coherently when combined
together, so the sound quality suffers when more output is desired.
Constant-curvature/fixed-angle arrays can only increase vertical
coverage with additional boxes, a feature that isn't desirable in most
level spaces. Although technically not a line-array, the DV8 offers
multiple benefits that make them perform like a line array, and better
than a constant-curvature array:
1: Tighter control of the vertical high-frequency dispersion. This is
achieved using true isophasic wave guides and designing the
cabinets so when two are arrayed, the wave-guides are closely
coupled and sum coherently to over 13kHz.
2: Adjustability of the vertical dispersion. This is achieved by
incorporating a 4-degree angle into the cabinet construction and
supplying an adjustable interconnecting mechanism that allows from
0-degrees to 8 degrees of inter-cabinet splay angle.
3: Greater control over the mid and low-frequency vertical
dispersion. This is achieved by aligning the mid-low drivers vertically
to extend the overall length of the line, with the resulting length
offering reasonable pattern control down to 150Hz.
4: Wider high-frequency dispersion. This is achieved by mounting
the high-frequency wave-guide exit forward of the loudspeaker
baffle and above the grill to minimize edge diffraction and deliver
consistent and extended horizontal dispersion.
5: Wider mid-frequency dispersion. This is achieved by using
multiple, vertically aligned 8" drivers so the frequencies at which the
midrange starts to beam from the woofers are in the transition range
to the tweeter, making the horizontal dispersion more consistent
throughout the frequency spectrum.
6: Symmetrical output to left and right. Constant curvature arrays
are asymmetrical, meaning their output isn't consistent on both
sides of the cabinet. The DV8 delivers identical response to the left
and right whether alone or in pairs.
Perfect for expansion. The seamless coupling feature of the DV8s
makes them much more versatile than any other choice on the
market because they offer the extremely wide 120-degree horizontal
coverage whether using one or two per side AND the choice of
tighter, the same, or expanded vertical coverage when using two
per side. When you expand to own more than one pair of DV8s,
you can use them in multiple rooms, on separate gigs, or
seamlessly coupled to serve much larger rooms.

SAFETY INFO MATION
Important information regarding safety and the use of your loudspeakers:
Never stand in the immediate vicinity of loudspeakers driven at a hi h level. Professional loudspeaker systems are
capable of causin a sound pressure level detrimental to human health. Seemin ly non-critical sound levels (from
approx. 95 dB SPL) can cause hearin dama e if people are exposed to it over a lon period. To prevent potentially
dan erous exposure to hi h levels of acoustic pressure, anyone who is exposed to these levels should use adequate
protection devices.
When a transducer capable of producin hi h sound levels is bein used, it is therefore necessary to wear ear plu s
or protective earphones.
See the manual technical specifications to know the maximum sound pressure level.
In order to prevent accidents when settin up the loudspeakers or loudspeaker stands, make sure they are standin
on a firm surface.
Ensure that all additional hardware, fixin s and fasteners used for installation or mobile deployment are of an
appropriate size and load safety factor.
Pay attention to the manufacturers' instructions and to the relevant safety uidelines.
Re ularly check the loudspeaker housin s and accessories for visible si ns of wear and tear, and replace them
when necessary.
Re ularly check all load bearin bolts in the mountin devices.
Caution: Loudspeakers produce a static ma netic field even if they are not connected or are not in use. Therefore
make sure when erectin and transportin loudspeakers that they are nowhere near equipment and objects which
may be impaired or dama ed by an external ma netic field.A distance of 3 feet (1m) should be maintained between
loudspeakers and sensitive equipment such as CRT monitors or ma netic stora e media.
Never attempt to carry out any operations, modifications or repairs that are not expressly described in this manual.
Contact your dealer or BASSBOSS support if the product is not functionin properly.
BASSBOSS stron ly recommends this product be installed by a qualified, professional installer who can ensure correct
installation and certify that is is installed in compliance with the re ulations in force.
The entire audio system must comply with the current local standards and re ulations re ardin electrical systems.
IMPO TANT NOTES
To prevent the occurrence of noise on si nal cables, use shielded cables only. Avoid routin si nal cables close to
equipment that produces hi h-intensity electroma netic fields such as transformers, power cables and loudspeaker
wires. Do not coil excess power cable. Do not coil or wrap power cables and si nal cables to ether.

The DV8 compact full-range loudspeaker’s DSP is supplied with 4 presets. All four presets contain limiter settings to ensure
safe operation of the unit. The presets are accessed in sequence via the preset select button on the rear of the unit.
A green LED indicates the active preset. The level knob provides a range of control from OFF to +12dB within each preset.
Preset Functions:
Preset 1: Standalone Full-Range Operation. 45Hz high-pass filter with bass boost E and conservative limiting.
Recommended for use when no subwoofer is present.
Preset 2: Intermediate Stand-Alone setting, 60Hz high-pass with slight bass boost and limiting. Recommended for use with
a single sub or when subwoofers are separated from DV8s.
Preset 3: Intermediate High-output setting. 85Hz high-pass with limiting and no LF E . Recommended for use when
subwoofers are co-located with DV8s.
Preset 4: Maximum Output Setting, 100Hz highpass, minimal limiting and no LF E . Recommended for use when outdoors
and/or when multiple or larger subwoofers are present
Presets 2,3 and 4 allow the DV8s to be combined with various subwoofer configurations and allow the sound to be tailored
to different environments. It is recommended to listen to the presets and choose the one that works best in each
environment.
System Setup Addendum:
When connecting multiple loudspeakers in a system, signal can be passed through from one powered loudspeaker to
another using balanced, shielded XLR cables. No processing is applied to the signal as it passes through from the input to
the output connectors in each loudspeaker. Signal can be routed in any sequence because each loudspeaker receives a
full-range signal and applies the necessary processing in order to operate as part of the overall system. It is recommended
to run signal to the nearest box first and patch to the next nearest box in sequence.
DV8 Arrayed Pairs:
The DV8s can be arrayed in pairs, with the second cabinet inverted above the first. Optional hardware is required to attach
the two boxes together. The hardware also allows for adjustment of the total vertical coverage of the array. The DV8 is
also equipped with a power pass-through facility that allows multiple boxes to be connected on a single power source. An
optional PowerCON jumper cable is available for this purpose. Using the signal and power pass-through connectors allows
the minimum number of cables to be run to the array. NOTE: Arrayed pairs must be set on the same preset number to
achieve maximum performance.
