Toensuremaximumperformanceoftheantennasystemandtomaximiseavailabilityandreliabilityofservice
theantennamust;
•haveaclearlineofsitetothesky
•beclearandfreeofobstructions
•beclearofmetalobjects
•belocatedawayfromothertransmittingdevices
•besecurelyaffixedinlocation
•notbelocatedindoors
•beinstalledinconjunctionwithacertifiedcable
InstallingAntennaCables
Wheninstallingantennacables,followtheseguidelines:
•Routeandrestraincablestopreventthemfromvibratingormovingundernormalconditions,whichcould
resultindamagetotheantennaorthecoaxialcableconnections.
•Whereverthecablescontactstructures,protectthecablesfromchafingorabrasion.Ifacableneedstobe
bent,avoidkinkingit,andensurethateachbendradiusfollowsthecablesupplierlimits.
•Usecoaxialsealant,shrink‐wraptubing,electricaltape,oranothersuitableproducttosealallcable
connectionsappropriatelytopreventmoistureandcorrosiondamagefromweatherexposure.
•Mountallantennasverticallyandclearofnearbymetalobstructions
•Minimizehorizontalobstructionsasmuchaspossiblebecausetheycancreateareasofpoorsystemcoverage.
•Tominimizethelossofradiosignalfromtheantennatotheterminal,thespecificcoaxialcablesystem
betweentheantennaandtheothercomponentshouldbelessthan3dbincludingconnectorloss.
InstallationOptions
Theantennasystemissuitableformarine,vehicleandfixedapplicationsandisdesignedtomeetIridiumSystem
performancerequirementswheninstalledaccordingtotheinstructionsinthisguide.
