The actofuncoupling yourfifthwheeltrailerfromyourtowvehicleis,singularly,the mostdangerousacttobe
performed when RVing.Manyaccidentshaveoccurred wherebroken bones,severed limbsand even deathby
crushing haveresultedfrominadvertentlydropping the fifthwheeltrailerwhen aperson hasplacedpartofhis/
herbodybetween the towvehicleand the frameofthe fifthwheeltrailer.All oftheseaccidentsarecompletely
avoidablebyfollowingafewsimplerules,evenwithoutinstallingBedSaverTM onyourhitch.
·Chock yourtrailerwheels.
·Extend yourfrontjacks until you see no weightison the hitch.
·NEVERplaceanypartofyourbodybetween the trailerframeand towvehicleorhitch.
·NEVERallowanyhelperorobservertoplaceanybodypartbetween the trailerframeand tow
vehicleorhitch.
BedSaverTM preventsdamage toyourtowvehiclewhen an inadvertentreleasehappens.BedSaverTM mayNOT
preventinjurytosomeone violating thesimplerulesabove.

Position the bracketmountand insert1/2-13 x3"hexbolts.
Install the spacerand nuton the boltand fingertighten only.
Repeatthisstep withbothsidesofthe hitch.

Removethenutsand lockwashers fromside framebolts,
then removethe twobolts.Retainthesebolts,lock
washersand nutsforreuse.

Install the lowerback boltsand nuts.

Using the remaining fourboltsand nutssupplied withthe kit,
attachthe x-tube weldmenttothe leftand rightside plates.
Insertthe boltswiththe headson the outside and finger
tighten the nuts.Usethe 1/2-13 x1"hexboltsinthe outside
holes.

Inspectyourwork and check tobe certainall nutsand boltshavebeen properlytightened.Asample
installation isshownin Figures 5and 6.

Inserttheoriginalboltsremoved inStep 1.Inspectthe
bracketmountandx-tubeforproperplacement.After
validationofproperplacement,tightentheeightnutssecuring
the bracketmounttothe hitchframe,then tighten the four
nutsand boltsattaching the x-tube tothe bracketmounts.
Torque allnutsto65 foot-pounds.
NOTE:When tightening the bracketmountstothe hitch
framesides, itmaybe necessary tolift the bracket mountfor
properalignmentandleveling.
