Remove any packaging material and promotional
labels before using your toaster kettle combo
appliance for the first time.
The power plug of the Breville Ikon Toaster ettle
Combo has to be plugged into a power outlet and
switched on at the power outlet before the toaster or
the kettle can be activated. The toaster and the kettle
can be operated separately or together.
Operation of the kettle
It is recommended before first use to fill the kettle to
the maximum level with cold tap water, bring to the
boil then discard the water. The kettle will only
operate when positioned on the power base with the
ON/OFF switch in the ON position. The kettle will
automatically switch off once the water has boiled.
1. To fill the kettle with water, remove it from the
power base and open the lid by pushing the lid
release button on top of the handle. The lid will
automatically open. Fill with desired amount of
water. Always fill the kettle between the
minimum and maximum marks on the water
window. Too little water will result in the kettle
switching off.
2. Ensure that the lid is closed and locked firmly
into place. Place the kettle securely onto the
power base. Insert the power plug into a
230/240V power outlet and switch ON.
3. Press the lower section of the ON/OFF switch on
the handle to the ON position. The power symbol
on the switch will illuminate.
4. The kettle will automatically switch OFF once the
water has boiled. Lift the kettle from the power
base and pour the water. Take care to hold the
kettle level, especially when filled to the
maximum level. To re-boil it may be necessary
to wait for a few seconds to allow the control
to reset.
5. The kettle can be switched off manually by
pressing the upper section of the ON/OFF switch
on the handle to the OFF position.
6. The kettle should be stored on its power base
when not in use. The appliance should be
switched off at the power outlet and the power
cord unplugged from the power outlet when not
in use.
The kettle must only be used with the power
base supplied. Use caution when pouring water
from your kettle, as boiling water will scald. Do
not pour the water too quickly.
Note
Always fill the kettle between the minimum (MIN)
and the maximum (MAX) marks on the water
window of the kettle. Too little water will result in
the kettle switching “OFF”. Filling above the
maximum mark on the exterior of the kettle may
result in boiling water splashing from the kettle.
Note
Do not remove the kettle from the power base
during operation. Ensure the kettle has switched
to “OFF” position after the water has boiled,
before removing the kettle from the power base.
Note
THIS ETTLE IS DESIGNED FOR THE BOILING OF DRIN ING QUALITY WATER ONLY. NEVER
USE IT TO HEAT OR BOIL ANY OTHER LIQUIDS OR FOODSTUFFS. THE LID SHOULD ALWAYS
BE FIRMLY IN PLACE AND LOC ED IN THE CLOSED POSITION BEFORE AND DURING USE.
Operatin your Breville Ikon Toaster Kettle Combo continued
Kettle safety boil dry protection
The kettle is fitted with a safety device, which
protects against overheating, should the appliance be
operated with insufficient water. If this occurs the
kettle will stop heating, and the illuminated light
within the ON/OFF switch will go out. Switch the
ON/OFF switch to “OFF”, switch off at the power
outlet and allow the kettle to cool before refilling. The
safety device will automatically reset when the kettle
has cooled down.
For additional safety your kettle is fitted with an
additional thermal cut out. In the event of
overheating, the kettle will automatically shut down
to prevent further damage. Should this occur, take
your kettle to an authorised Breville Service Centre.
Operation of the toaster
When using the toaster for the first time, we suggest
you toast on setting No. 3 or 4. Varying types of bread
and personal preference may require a different
browning setting, for example: raisin toast and white
light-textured breads may require a lighter setting,
whilst heavier textured rye breads may require a
darker setting.
1. Insert the power plug into a 230/240V power
outlet and switch ON.
2. Place only 2 slices of bread or 2 halves of an
English muffin or bagel into each of the bread
slots. Ensure the bread slices or muffin/bagel
halves are not too large or thick to fit in the slots.
3. Select the desired browning setting using the
browning control dial. Colour settings range from
‘1’ lightest to ‘6’ darkest.
4. Press the high lift lever down until it clicks into
place and the indicator notch above the browning
control dial will illuminate. Toasting cycle will
automatically commence.
If the toaster kettle combo appliance is not
plugged in and switched on at the power outlet,
the high lift lever will not click into place.
Note
5. The toaster turns off when the desired toast
colour is achieved and automatically raises the
toast. The toasting process can be stopped at
any time by pressing the STOP button located on
the browning control knob or switching off at the
power outlet.
8
DO NOT LEAVE UNATTENDED WHEN IN USE AS TOAST MAY JAM OR WEDGE IN
THE BREAD CARRIAGE.
9
Hi h lift
To remove smaller items such as crumpets and
English muffins, lift the high lift lever approximately
20mm above the starting position.
In the unlikely event that the bread or crumpet
becomes jammed, switch the power off at the power
outlet. Remove the power plug from the power outlet
and then carefully ease the bread out of the toaster,
ensuring that you do not damage the self centering
slots or the elements.
Toastin frozen bread
To toast frozen bread, place the bread into the
toasting slots, select the desired browning setting,
lower the high lift lever until it clicks into place then
press the defrost button which will illuminate.
Selecting this button will extend the toasting time.
A bit more ™
This function allows you to add ‘a bit more’™ if the
toast requires a little more toasting or heating. Place
toast into toasting slots, lower the high lift lever until
it clicks into place and press ‘a bit more’™ button
which will illuminate.
Stop
The toasting, defrosting and ‘a bit more’™ functions
can be cancelled at any time by pressing the Cancel
button. The toaster will turn off and automatically
raise the toast.
NEVER ATTEMPT TO EXTRACT JAMMED TOAST, CRUMPETS OR ENGLISH MUFFINS OR ANY
OTHER ITEM WITH A NIFE OR ANY OTHER OBJECT, AS CONTACT WITH LIVE ELEMENTS MAY
NOT ONLY DAMAGE THE ELEMENTS, BUT CAUSE ELECTROCUTION.
THE LID OF THE ETTLE MUST ALWAYS BE LOC ED CLOSED WHILST THE ETTLE
IS IN OPERATION.

opening the lid and sliding the filter up and out
of the kettle. The filter can be cleaned by running
under hot water and rubbing with a cleaning
cloth or brush. To replace filter, simply slide

Removal of mineral deposits
Mineral deposits in tap water may cause the kettle
interior and water window to discolour over time.
This may be removed by using a proprietary kettle
descaler which is available from most leading
supermarkets, department stores and

Alternatively:
1. Fill the kettle until 2⁄3full with 1 part white
vinegar and 2 parts water. Boil and allow to
stand overnight.
2. Empty the solution from the kettle. Fill the
kettle with clean water, bring to boil and discard
the water. Repeat and the kettle will be ready
for use.
Do not use chemical, steel wool, or abrasive
cleaners to clean the inside or outside of
the kettle.
Note
Stora e
Always switch the power off at the power outlet, then
remove the plug from the power outlet and allow
both toaster and kettle to cool completely before
storing. Follow the directions for cleaning and store
in an upright position.
