Foreword
These instructions enable the safe and efficient
handling of the Multi-Twister (hereinafter referred to
as the "attachment"). The instructions are a
constituent of the attachment and must be kept at
the storage location of the attachment and be
accessible to the user at all times.
The user must have carefully read through and
understood these instructions before beginning any
work. The basic prerequisite for safe working is
compliance with all of the specified safety information
and action instructions in these operating instructions
and the instructions for the single-axle walk-behind
tractor (hereinafter referred to as "the main engine")
to which the attachment is coupled. The local accident
prevention regulations and general safety regulations
for the usage area of the attachment also apply.
The figures in these instructions are intended to
provide a general understanding, and may differ from
the actual version.
Use of any other kind shall be deemed to be
improper. Brielmaier Motormäher GmbH (hereinafter
referred to as the "manufacturer") assumes no
liability for damages resulting from such use. The risk
in cases such as this shall be borne solely by the user.

ductions in any type and form - including excerpts - as
well as the utilisation and/or communication of the

1.2 Operation
The Multi-Twister is an interchangeable attachment, and is
mounted onto a main engine that is provided for it.
The engine of the walk-behind tractor powers the Multi-Twister
by means of the hydraulics.

The fodder is picked up by the pick-up. Discharging to the side
takes place via a lateral conveyor belt, which can be switched to
clockwise operation, anticlockwise operation or stop from the
handlebar.
The working height is adjustable. The work performance depends
on the speed of the engine.
1.3 Name/type plate
The type plate is located on the frame of the attachment.
The type plate contains the following information:
– Manufacturer
– Name
– Type
– Device no.
– Year of manufacture
– Weight
– Max. rpm
– Spec.
– Service code (KD code)
– CE marking
The serial numbers are consecutive starting with XV1000. Every
attachment has a unique serial number.
NOTE
The attachment type and the machine number must
be specified when ordering spare parts or making
enquiries with regard to the attachment.

Pick-up roller

The crop is collected and transported onto the conveyor belt with
the aid of the plastic tines (1) on the pick-up roller (2), which
rotates in the opposite direction to the direction of travel.
Conveyor belt
The crop collected by the pick-up roller can be transported to the
side using the conveyor belt.
NOTE
In order to load and transport the crop, the conveyor
belt must be switched off. Optionally available side
parts prevent the forage from falling off the sides.
The conveyor belt can be switched to clockwise operation,
anticlockwise operation or stop using the operating elements on
the machine handlebar (see chapter Operating elements [}10]).
Rear panel
The rear panel prevents the crop from falling to the rear.
Cleaner
The cleaner forms the transition from the conveyor belt to the
rear panel.

The attachment can be raised with lifting gear and secured
during transport at the lift points (1- 3).
Quick release coupling
The attachment is coupled to and uncoupled from the machine
using the quick-release coupling on the attachment.
Parking support
The parking support is used to park the attachment without a
machine.
For operation, the removal post is raised using the handwheel.
Drinks holder
A drinks holder for storing PET bottles (1.5 litres) is located on the
back of the Multi-Twister.

Attachment grille
(optional)
The attachment grille prevents large amounts of crop from being
pushed over the rear panel.
Side parts (optional)
In the transport position, the side parts are swivelled forward and
the conveyor belt is set to the neutral position. Crop is collected
by the pick-up roller and stays on the stationary conveyor belt. In
the deflection position, the crop is kept away from the machine
by the side parts (see also chapter Setting the side parts to the
transport/deflection position (optional) [}40]).

The depth control can be adjusted through the chassis using the
levers on the left and right (1). 8 graduated positions (2) are
available for different conditions/occurrences.
The highest position serves as the transport position.
The lowest position serves as the park position. In this position,
the frame presses against the chassis and thereby brakes the
attachment.
Handles (left and right)
of the main engine
The handles to the right-hand and left-hand side of the steering
handlebar of the main engine are equipped with various
operating elements.
NOTE
Also observe the information in the operating
instructions of the main engine regarding operating
elements!
The following operating elements are required to operate the
Multi-Twister:

Control panel of the
main engine
The control panel is located between the handles of the main
engine within the operator's field of view. The control panel has
various display elements and buttons.
NOTE
Also observe the information in the operating
instructions of the main engine regarding the control
panel!

The attachment can be switched on and off using the button
"Attachment ON/OFF" (1) on the control panel of the main
engine.
To switch the attachment on:
a) Press and hold the button "Attachment ON/OFF" (1).
ð The symbol "Device drive active" appears on the display.
NOTE
More detailed information can be found in the
operating instructions of the main engine.
NOTE
The Multi-Twister can also be operated by radio
remote control (version 2019 or higher).

2.2 Intended use
The attachment may be used exclusively with the machines
approved by the manufacturer in the following areas:
– Agriculture and viniculture
– Maintenance of green areas and parks
The attachment serves exclusively to pick up crop and convey or
transport it to the side. For this purpose, the attachment is
mounted on a machine approved by the manufacturer. The
attachment is only permitted to be used by persons who meet the
physical (strength, physical condition and height) and mental
(mental maturity, not under the influence of drugs)
requirements.
The attachment can be used for the following purposes:
– Dry forage collection on slopes
– Green forage transport
– Silage transport
– Swath formation on level surfaces
The intended use also includes compliance with all of the specifi-
cations in these operating instructions.
Any use beyond or other than the intended use is regarded as
misuse.
2.3 Foreseeable misuse
Any use other than the use specified in the chapter Intended use
[}16] is regarded as incorrect.
Any use beyond or other than the intended use of the
attachment can lead to dangerous situations.
The operator bears sole responsibility for the consequences
resulting from unintended use or misuse.
For example, it is considered misuse if
– the attachment is operated outside of the limits specified in
the Technical data [}65].

– modifications are made to the attachment.
– safety equipment is disabled.
– persons are transported using the attachment.
– the attachment is used in potentially explosive areas.
2.4 Fundamental dangers
Moving parts
Risk of fatal injury from moving parts!
Moving parts such as the PTO shaft drive of the machine, the
pick-up roller of the attachment or the conveyor belt can cause
severe injury.
– Do not reach into or handle moving parts during operation.
– Never open covers during operation.
– Observe the stopping time: Make sure that no parts are still
moving before opening the safety covers.
– Wear tight-fitting protective clothing with low tear strength
in the danger zone.
Lightning strike
Risk of fatal injury from lightning strike!
There is a risk of fatal injury from lightning strike.
– Do not work outdoors in thunderstorms.
– In the event of a rapidly approaching thunderstorm
discontinue operation and seek shelter.
– Before restarting after a lightning strike, determine whether
damage resulted and repair it if necessary.
Missing safety equipment
Risk of injury from missing safety equipment!
Operating the attachment without the gearbox and chain covers
can lead to severe injury from being drawn in/wound up.
– After performing maintenance work, attach the covers to the
gearbox.
– Never start up the attachment without safety equipment.
Thrown-out stones or plastic tines
Danger from stones or plastic tines being thrown out!
Small stones can be whirled up and parts of the plastic tines can
be thrown out due to the rotation of the pick-up roller.
– Make sure that no one is in front of the attachment.
– Wear protective goggles.

Automatic movements
Risk of injury from automatic movements of the attachment!
Setting down the attachment improperly can result in life-
threatening conditions.
– Manually move the attachment on flat terrain only.
– Make sure that it is correctly connected before beginning to
travel with the machine.
– Never set the attachment down on a slope.
– The attachment is only to be set down on flat terrain.
Weather conditions
Risk of fatal injury from insufficient adaptation to the weather!
Poor weather conditions decrease visibility and grip. This can lead
to serious accidents and severe injury or even death.
– Wear non-slip protective footwear.
– Make sure that the personal protective equipment is adapted
to the weather and the conditions (protection from heat/
cold, climbing irons for shoes, etc.).
– In the event of sudden changes to the weather conditions
(approaching rain, storm, etc.), discontinue operation and
seek shelter.
– Do not resume work until the weather conditions no longer
pose a threat.
– Never work in poor weather and visibility conditions.

Lights
Risk of injury from lack of or insufficient lights!
Defective or a lack of lights make orientation more difficult. This
may result in concussion damage or falls.
– Check the lighting equipment and adjust the lighting
conditions if necessary before commencing work. Replace
defective lights.
– Discontinue operation as soon as sufficient lighting can no
longer be ensured.
Noise
Risk of injury from noise!
The sound pressure level in the working zone can go up to 106
dB(A) and cause permanent hearing damage.
– Wear ear protection.
Vibration
Risk of injury from strong vibration!
Strong vibration for long periods can lead to long-term health
damage.
– If possible, select an engine speed at which there is less
vibration.
– Take regular breaks.
– Adjust the handlebar to your height and individual posture
preferences.
– Do not hold the handlebar ends with more force than is
required.
– Wear safety gloves.
Sharp edges and pointed corners
Risk of injury from sharp edges and pointed corners!
Sharp edges and pointed corners can cause abrasions and cuts to
the skin.
– Perform work carefully in the vicinity of sharp edges and
pointed corners.
– Wear safety gloves.

Hot surfaces
Risk of burns from hot surfaces!
If maintenance work is performed on the attachment following
operation, then there is a risk of burning from contact with hot
surfaces.
– Allow the parts/components on which work is to be
performed to cool down to below 50°C or wear safety gloves
with sufficient thermal insulation.
Danger from pressurised hydraulic lines!
Pressurised lines and machine parts can cause injuries.
– Work on pressurised equipment should only be carried out
by specially trained personnel.
– Before commencing work on the equipment, switch off the
hydraulics, shut off the pressurised supply lines, secure them
against switching back on again and depressurise the
pressurised parts of the system. Pay attention to pressure
accumulators. Also empty these completely.
– Wear personal protective equipment when working on the
hydraulics.
– Do not adjust the pressure settings beyond the maximum
permissible values.
– Use hydraulic hoses that are designed for the system pressure
specified in the technical data only.
– Check hose lines properly for damage before installing them.
Also check the use by date. Do not install damaged or
overaged hose lines.
