Thank you for purchasing a decorative effect Electric Stove, this appliance has been made with
great care. Please follow these instructions for setting up your stove, cleaning and maintenance.
Pay careful attention to these instructions as they will help you to keep your stove in good
condition for many years to come. If you should experience any parts or service problems, please
contact your retailer.
1)SETTINGUPANDPOSITIONINGYOURELECTRICSTOVE
The stove will be received in two separate boxes. The first contains the cast iron stove body and
the second the Flame Effect with Heating Unit Check that the specified components are included
before you start setting up your stove.

1 x Cast Iron Electric Stove main body (with transit bar) 1 x Flame Effect Unit complete
1 x Cast Iron Stove Lid. with 2KW Fan Heater attached.
1 x Set of Four Legs. 1 x instruction booklet.
1 x Set of Four Bolts and Washers 1 x Coal Pack
(for fixing the legs to the stove) already 1x Log Set
screwed into the base of the stove body. 1 x Log Guard & Fitting
Instructions
Proceed as follows:
Carefully remove all the packaging from both boxes and remove any protective packaging from
inside. Turn the main stove body onto its back and attach the four legs by means of the bolts and
washers supplied. Tighten with a spanner. Stand the stove upright on its legs. The next step is to
insert the flame effect.
POSITIONINGYOURSTOVE
This appliance should be positioned on a firm level surface. If the customer is positioning the
stove in a fire surround the customer should establish the suitability of the surround for use with
an electric stove
.
Before installing the Flame Effect and Heater Unit, please ensure that your hands are clean
so that no grease or dirt is transferred to the flame effect screen.
Pass the plug and lead through the large rectangular cut out in the base plate of the stove body.
Position the flame effect and heater unit into the back of the stove body. The fan heater part
extends through the base plate of the stove. (Insert the flame effect and heater unit via the top of
the stove body. The outside edges of the flame effect and heater unit slide into the channels in the
back of each side plate. Slide the unit down from the top until the top of the back is level with the
top of the side plates). DO NOT FORCE THE FLAME EFFECT AND HEATER UNIT INTO
POSITION.
Ensure that the electrical lead and plug are not trapped between the flame effect unit and the base
plate of the stove.
Place the stove in the position where you wish to use it taking note of the section POSITIONING
YOUR STOVE and place the stove lid onto the top of the stove body ensuring that it fits snugly
into place.
YOUR STOVE IS NOW READY TO PLUG IN AND USE.

2)OPERATINGTHESTOVE
Open the ash door to reveal the control panel (Winchester and Canterbury models). Open the
main doors (Lincoln model) to reveal an ash door which can be pulled open to reveal the control
panel. The rotary control on the left side sets the thermostat. On the right, there are 3 switches.
The 1st controls the flame effect only; depress the 1st and 2nd switch for the flame effect and
1000W of heat; depress the 1st, 2nd and 3rd switches together for the flame effect and 2000W of
heat. The thermostat can then be set. The flame effect can be used without heat.
THERMOSTAT
The thermostat enables the room temperature to be controlled around a pre-set level and can only
be used when all of the 3 switches are on. To set the thermostat, first set the control at position 9
then turn on the heating elements and heat the room to the desired temperature. When this
temperature has been reached, reduce the setting by turning the control anti-clockwise towards a
lower figure until you hear the thermostat click off and the heat from the fan will reduce. When
the room temperature drops the thermostat will turn the full heat from the fire back on again. At
very low temperature (approximately 6 degrees C) the thermostat will not turn the fire off. Please
ensure that nothing is left in front of the fan when it is switched on and that the air intake
remains clear of obstruction.
SAFETYCUT-OUT
The heating element is fitted with an auto reset cut-out which will switch off the fire if it
overheats. Should this occur, switch off the fire at the plug and allow it to cool down. check that
there are no objects blocking the air inlets to the fan at the side or rear and that there is no
obstruction of the fan front. When the fire has cooled sufficiently the cut-out will re-set
automatically. The fire must be switched off at the plug for the cut-out to re-set. If the fault
persists seek professional advice.

3)ELECTRICALCONNECTIONS– United Kingdom only
This appliance must only be connected to 230/240 Volts .c. 50 Hz supply.
Before connecting the fire, check that the supply voltage is the same as that stated on the fire.
This appliance must only be used on AC supply. Fuse rating 13 amps.
This appliance must be positioned so that the plug is accessible. If the supply cord of the
appliance is damaged it must be replaced by a “competent person”
Warning this appliance must be earthed
Green and Yellow: EARTH
Blue: NEUTRAL
Brown: LIVE
As the colours in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured markings
identifying the terminals in your plug proceed as follows:
The wire that is coloured green and yellow must be connected to the terminal in the plug which is
marked with the letter E or by the earth symbol or coloured green and yellow.
The wire that is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal that is marked with a letter N, or
coloured black.
The wire that is coloured brown must be connected to the terminal that is marked with the letter
L, or coloured red.
If the terminals of the plug are unmarked, consult a qualified electrician. Two-pin plugs must not
be used.
For fused plugs use a 13 amp fuse.
4)CLEANINGANDMAINTENANCE
First of all, disconnect the plug from the wall
Flame effect
The flame effect is factory set and not adjustable. If, however, during transportation or
installation the flames have become displaced they can easily be repositioned once the fuel effect
and screen have been removed.
Screen cleaning
The nature of the screen material can cause static, it is important that any cleaning preparation
used on the front screen (in front of the flame effect) contains anti-static properties. Do not use
abrasive or solvent based cleaners on any part of this appliance.
Should the cast iron outer shell become tarnished or marked it can be re-sprayed, using touch up
spray paint available from your local stockist.
Changing Bulbs
Undo the main stove door. Remove any loose coal or logs from the fuel bed and then gently
remove the fuel effect. Lift the fuel effect clear to give access to the two candle lamps. Unscrew
and replace the damaged bulbs and replace the fuel effect by gently sliding back into the recess.
Replace loose coal or logs.
Periodically check the fan air intake and outlet vent for dust build-up.

5)ARRANGINGTHEFUELEFFECT
Your product comes complete with Coal and Log Option
COAL OPTION
The fire comes complete with moulded pebble base.
Carefully remove the coal from the plastic bag—DO NOT EMPTY BAG ONTO FUEL
SUPPORT.
Position Coal onto the white pebbles for desired effect. See fig.1 below for a guide.
LOG OPTION
Figure 2 shows the optimum layout for the log effect option.
If you are changing the appearance of you stove from coal to log first remove any loose coal from
the fire.
The fuel support is moulded with white stones which are arranged around clear areas in the fuel
bed.
Place the 3 smaller logs in the designated recesses in the fuel support base ( NB: each log is
uniquely shaped to match the same shape in the fuel support.)
When the three logs have been fitted, place the large hollow log on top of the three base logs with
the rear of the hollow log touching the screen. The large log follows the curve of the screen.

The electrical components are guaranteed against faulty parts or workmanship for 12 months
from the date of purchase. Please retain your receipt as proof of purchase. Elements and bulbs are
considered to be consumable items.
The rights given in this guarantee are limited to the U.K. mainland and are in addition to any to
which you may have statutory entitlement.
For claims and service under guarantee please contact your retailer / supplier.
Please retain your purchase receipt. We will need to see this in the event of a claim under
warranty.
When making a claim under warranty you must provide details as requested below

WARNING
This appliance must be earthed.
Do not cover or hang clothes, towels etc., over or near the heater as this could cause over heating
and possible damage.
The guard used on this appliance conforms to BS1495: 1991 and satisfies the heating appliance
fireguards and safety regulations 1991.
The guard is to prevent the risk of fire or injury from burns and should not be permanently
removed as it would not give full protection for the young and infirm.
This appliance must not be positioned below a socket.
Do not use this heater with a thermal control, programme controller, timer or any other device
which switches the heater on automatically, since a fire risk exists if the heater is covered or
displaced.
Do not use this heater in the immediate surroundings of a bath, shower or swimming pool.
