Changing the paper roll
Quick operation guide
To open the paper compartment, push down the lock
release lever. The paper compartment will spring open
and can be swung down. Remove the centre sleeve of
the old paper roll and clear the roll compartment of any
dust and paper debris. Insert a new thermal paper roll
(diameter up to 38 mm!) as shown in the illustration.
The end of the paper should be approx. 5 cm behind the
rubber roller. Close the paper compartment. The lock
must click shut audibly!

Cards with chip must in principle be authorised on this terminal via the chip.
In the case of a reading error, the terminal will automatically prompt you to retrieve the data
by swiping the magnetic strip reader, provided the bank has enabled the card for this.
In the case of credit cards with chip the decision is first made during the booking as to whet-
her the customer confirms the payment with signature or PIN number.

Card-related error messages come from the authorisation system for the card being used.
Only the institute that has issued the card can substantiate the accuracy of the message.
If a transaction is declined, always check the additional text provided by the card issuer.
This may contain important information on how to proceed.

Security
Checklist for merchant at POS
Always compare the signature on the receipt with the one on the card.
Please check the validity period of the card with the embossed dates. If only one date is
given, this represents the date of expiry.
Use the UV security features on credit cards: if no UV security features are visible under
UV light, it is highly probable that the card is a fake.
Always ask the customer to check the amount or at least do this yourself to identify any
keypad input error before the card payment goes through.
Ensure that your customers are able to concentrate on entering their PIN correctly and
without anyone else seeing.
Take all reasonable steps to avoid retaining receipts or card details. Dispose of old
receipts in such a way that the data on them can not come into the possession of third
parties.
Outside hours of business, store your terminal in a safe place.
Do not allow unauthorised persons to have access to the terminal.
If you suspect that the terminal may have been tampered with, please report this
immediately to the police and to B+S.
Ensure that that you keep the merchant copy of the receipt for all card transactions
(purchase, reversal, refund). This is the only record containing important data for any
subsequent charges or for identifying the cardholder.
