1Before you start
1. Please make sure you have followed the BT Total Broadband Set-up Guide for
the BTHome Hub.
2. Check that your green phone light is on. This will mean that your Home Hub is
ready to use with your Broadband Talk service. If your light is not on you will need
to activate your Broadband Talk service. Please refer to the green box at the
bottom of the page for instructions on how to do this.
3. Your BTHub Phone 1020 box contains:
Charging cradle
Mains power
adapter
BT Hub Phone 1020
handset
2xAAA NiMH
rechargeable batteries
(Please note: you will not use this cable if attaching the
charging cradle to the BT Home Hub).
IMPORTANT
Need to activate your Broadband Talk account? You will need your Broadband
Talk number and password which can be found in your Account Summary
Letter or in the email sent to you from BT. Once you have this visit bt.com/bbt,
enter your Broadband Talk number and password and follow the instructions
until you receive a ‘Configuration Successful’ message.

Quick Start Guide
Follow these simple steps to start using
Broadband Talk with your BT Hub Phone.

2Setting up the hub phone
1. Remove the grey cover from the
front of the BT Hub by pulling out
towards you. Don’t worry if it feels
alittle stiff.
2. Attach the cradle to the
BT Home Hub by pushing in.
3. Slide open the battery
compartment on the back of
your BTHub Phone handset.
Insert the 2 x AAA rechargeable
batteries supplied. Slide back the
cover to close.
4. Place the BT Hub Phone 1020 into
the cradle on the BT Home Hub.
You should hear a beep when the
handset has been placed correctly.
After registering your handset
please wait 24 hours before making
calls with your new phone to allow
the batteries tocharge fully.
NOTE
It is not necessary to keep your handset with the Hub at all times, you can also
locateyour handset anywherein your home. Instead of attaching the cradle to
the Hub, plug the mains power adapter into charging cradle to keep the handset
charged. Occasionally you will need to connect the cradle to the BT Home Hub
and insert the handset to receive software upgrades. You will be asked to do this
when there is new software available.
