Location
You need to lace your BT Studio 100 close enough to
a mains ower and tele hone socket so that the cables
will reach.
The strength of the handset signal de ends on where

from other electrical a liances to avoid interference.
Setting up the base
1. Plug the ower ada tor and tele hone cable into the
back of the base.
2. Plug the ower ada tor into the mains wall socket and
switch the ower on. When connected correctly, the
green Power light on the base comes on.
WARNIN

areas.
Handset range
The handset rece tion range from
the base is u to 300m outdoors
and u to 50m indoors, in ideal
conditions.
Signal strength
The icon on your handset
indicates when you are in range.
When it flashes, you are out of
range.
When you move out of range of
the base, you will hear the out of
range tone. This tone is re eated

Getting started6
5635 BT Studio 100 UG [4] 21/10/03 4:07 PM Page 6
7Getting started
Talk/Standby time
In ideal conditions, the handset
batteries should give about 10
hours talk time or 100 hours
standby on a single charge. The
base must remain lugged in to
the mains and switched on at all
times.
Note that new batteries do not
reach full ca acity until they have
been in normal use for several
days.
Battery symbols
– Battery fully charged
– Battery half charged
– Battery low
Battery low warning
If the battery charge becomes low
during a call you will hear a
warning bee every minute
( rovided the battery warning tone
is set to on, see age 26). If the
battery runs out you will be cut off.
You will need to recharge the
handset before using it again.
During charging, the (battery) icon
will scroll in the dis lay.
BT Studio 100 – Edition 4 – 16.10.03 – 5635
3. Install the 2 x AAA rechargeable batteries su lied.
Then slide the battery com artment cover into lace.
With batteries installed the dis lay will show:

the base.
4. Place the handset in the base to charge, the red
charging light comes on and the icon begins
scrolling.

Battery performance
To kee your batteries in the best
condition, leave the handset off
the base for a few hours at a time
Running the batteries right down
at least once a week will hel them
last as long as ossible.
The charge ca acity of
rechargeable batteries will reduce
with time as they wear out, giving
the handset less talk/standby time.
Eventually they will need to be
re laced. New batteries are
available from the BT Studio 100
Hel line on 0870 605 8047.
After charging your handset for the
first time, subsequent charging
time is about 6–8 hours a day.
Batteries and handset may become
warm during charging. This is
normal.
When the handset has linked with the base the idle
dis lay will be shown:
You should charge the handset for at least 16 hours on
first charge.
5. Once fully charged, lug the tele hone line cord into the
tele hone wall socket.
Your BT Studio 100 is ready for use.
