How to STORE numbers
1. Press the STORE key
2. Press either one of the 3 direct dial
memory keys or the Quickdial followed
by a dialling key
3. Dial the number to be stored
4. Finally press the STORE key again

The following points should be considered:
Situ te your product close enough to the telephone socket
so th t the c ble will re ch.
Do not st nd it on c rpets or other simil r surf ces th t
gener te fibres s this m y reduce the ringing sound nd
clog inside mech nisms.
Your BIG Button + c n be positioned in three ltern tive
w ys:

R ised position on t ble surf ce (using plinth).
W ll-mounted. See ‘W ll-mounting’ on p ge 31.
Warning
Your BIG Button + is only designed to be operated in a
normal domestic or office environment. It should not be used
in bathrooms or near water.
Setting up
Follow these steps to set up your BIG Button +
ready for use

Ple se note you will require 2 x AAA b tteries to benefit
from the BT Answer 1571/C ll Minder mess ge w iting
indic tion. These re not included.
Lift the b ttery cover nd insert the b tteries s shown.
1Insert the atteries
Note
Batteries are only required if you want to use the 57
feature.
You will still be able to make and receive calls via the
handset without batteries fitted. However, the message
waiting indicator will not function.

2Plug your BIG Button + into the
telephone socket
If you do not h ve modern style socket, c ll BT on
Freefone 0800 800 150 nd sk for BT engineer to come
nd fit the correct socket.
This m y be ch rge ble service.
Battery low indicator
The batteries power the Message Waiting Indicator lamp.
The normal flash rate when messages are waiting is every
2 seconds. When the batteries are running low and a message
is waiting, the flash rate slows to once every 6 seconds.

3Ringer volume
The switch is found on the b se of your phone.
Set the volume of the ringer to Either High, Low or Off.
Note
If the ringer is set to off, the call indicator light will still flash
to indicate someone is calling you.

4Ringer tone select
The switch is found on the b se of your phone.
This switch llows you to select the pitch required for
the ringer.
R1: For low pitched tone.
R2: For medium pitched tone.
R : For high pitched tone.

5Amplify selection
The switch is found on the b se of your phone.
Choose between either incoming or outgoing settings.
Incoming m kes the c ller’s voice louder. Outgoing m kes
your voice louder t the other end of the c ll.
Note
When the Amplify button is used it will increase the volume
of all sounds that enter the microphone, so if you can, reduce
any background noise whenever you use this feature.

6Time Break Recall and Earth
Recall selection
The switch is found on the b se of your phone.
Your phone will lre dy be set to TB. If you re
residenti l customer this will help you to use some Network
Services such s C ll W iting, s long s you subscribe to
this service.
If you re using your BIG Button + on switchbo rd you
m y need to move this switch to TE to tr nsfer c lls.

To make a call
Lift the h ndset nd listen for di lling tone.
Di l the number you require.
To end the c ll, repl ce the h ndset.
Using your BIG Button +
Hearing Aid compatibility
As this telephone is fitted with an Inductive
Coupler, hearing aid wearers may benefit from
switching their hearing aid to the middle ‘T’
position and holding the earpiece up to the aid,
not their ear.

When the phone rings the c ll indic tor light will

To switch secrecy on and off
During c ll, press and release the SECRECY
button.
The Secrecy light will come on to show th t
secrecy is on.
You c n now t lk to someone in the room
without your c ller he ring you.
Press and release the SECRECY button g in to
return to your c ller.

Overwriting the 1571 code stored in the middle
memory button will llow you to store number
of your own choice. To do this, follow the ‘STORE’
instructions below.
To store numbers in the memory, use the STORE
button. This is loc ted under the memory l bel
which is underne th the h ndset. Push the pl stic
cover nd l bel to the left to reve l the STORE
button nd instructions.
Lift up the h ndset.
Push l bel to the left. Press the STORE button.
Press the One-Touch memory button under which
you wish to store the number.
Enter the number you wish to store.
Press the STORE button g in.
The phone number is now stored. Repl ce the
h ndset.
Note
You can store a phone number under each
of these buttons and dial the number by pressing
just the one button.
