4. OPERATION
Whentheunitisrstconnected,orwhenpowerresumesafteranoutage,theunitwill
remainofffortherstminute,andmaynotrespondtothepushbutton.
Toturnontheloadandstartthetimer,pushthepush-button.Thetimerwillrunforthe
periodsetbytheDIPswitches(seesection5).Theindicatorlightwillalsoturnon,to
indicatethatpowerisappliedtotheload.
Pushingthepush-buttonwhentheloadisonwilleitherturntheloadofforrestartthe
timer,dependingonthecongurationoftheButtonActionDIPswitch(seesection5.4).
TheHNS210TDcanalsobeoperatedfromaremoteswitch.Theremoteswitchwillactin
exactlythesamewayastheswitchontheunit.
5.SETTING THE TIMER
Electrical Safety Warning: Isolate the HNS210TD from the mains power supply
before setting the timer.
5.1. DIP SWITCH OPERATION
The eightDIPswitchesarevisible throughawindow intheinternalenclosureof the
electronicmodule.TherstsixswitchessetthetimeperiodforwhichtheHNS210TDwill
applypowertotheload.Theseventhswitchsetstheactionofthepushbuttonduring
thetimercountdown-eithertoturntheloadoff,orrestartthetimerperiod.Theeighth
switchsetstherangetoeithershorttimesettings(15secondincrements)orlongtime
settings(4minuteincrements).

5.2. EXAMPLE TIME SETTING (SHORT)
Adesiredruntimeafterthebuttonispushedis5minutesand30seconds.Asthelong
rangewillonlyallowtimesettingsin4minuteincrements,theclosestachievabletimeis
either4or8minutes.Asthisisnotsuitable,theshortrangemustbechosen.
Tosetthistime,beginwithalleightswitchesintheoff(down)position.Switch8must
remainofftoselecttheshortrange.Switchsixwillsetthetimerlongerthanthedesired
time, soitremains intheoffposition.Turn on(up)switch ve (4minutes)leaving a
remainderof1minute30seconds(5:30-4:00=1:30).Switchfourwouldadd2minutes,
whichistoomuch-leaveitoff.Turnonswitchthree(1minute)leavingaremainderof
30seconds.Turnonswitchtwo(30seconds),givingatotalof4:00+1:00+0:30=5:30
minutes.Thisgivesthedesiredtime,soswitchonemayremainoff.

5.3. EXAMPLE TIME SETTING (LONG)
Adesiredruntimeafterthebuttonispushedis36minutes.Shortrangewillonlyallowa
maximumsettingof15minutesand45seconds.Asthisisnotsuitable,wemustchoose
thelongrange.
Tosetthistime,beginwithalleightswitchesintheoff(down)position.Setswitch8on
(up)toselectthelongrange.Switchesveandsixwillbothsetthetimerlongerthan
thedesiredtime,sotheyremainintheoffposition.Turnon(up)switchfour(32minutes)
leavingaremainderof4minutes(36-32 =4).Switchesthreeandtwowould each
addtoomuchtime-leavethemoff.Turnonswitchone(4minutes),givingatotalof
32+4=36minutes.Thisgivesthedesiredtime.

5.4. SETTING THE BUTTON ACTION
Switchnumbersevensetstheactionofthepushbutton.Iftheloadisoff,pushingthe
buttonwillturntheloadon,regardlessofthesettingofswitchseven.Whiletheloadis
on,pushingthebuttonagaincanhavetwodifferentactions.Ifswitchsevenisoff(down),
pushingthebuttonwhiletheloadisonwillturntheloadoffandcancelthetimer.If
switchsevenison(up),pushingthebuttonwhiletheloadisonwillkeeptheloadonand
restartthetimer,extendingtheruntime.
Example:Theimagebelowshowsthetimersetfora4minutetimeout.Whenthebutton
isrstpushedtoturntheloadon,thetimerwillstarttocountdown4minutes.Switch
sevenisseton(up).After3minutesofthetimercountingdown,theuserpressesthe
buttonasecondtime.Thisrestartsthecounterbackat4minutes,andtheloadremains
on.Afterafurther4minutes,theloadtimes-outandturnsoff.Theloadwasonforatotal
of7minutes.
6.WARRANTY AND DISCLAIMER
CABACwarranttheproductagainstmanufacturingandmaterialdefectfromthedate
ofinvoicetotheinitialpurchaserforaperiodof12months.Duringthewarrantyperiod
CABAC will replace products that prove to be defective where the product has been
correctly installed and maintained and operated within the specications dened in
the product data sheet and where the product is not subject to mechanical damage
orchemicalattack.Thewarrantyisalsoconditionalthattheunitbeinginstalledbya
licensedelectricalcontractor.Nootherwarrantyisexpressedorimplied.
CABACshallnotbeliableforanydirect,indirect,incidentalorconsequentialdamages.
Warning: Switches and other fixed wired equipment must be installed by an
electrician or similarly qualified person.
