I. Introduction
This section contains the product overview, features, configurations, estimated
performance standards, and monthly print volume.
A. Overview
The imagePRESS Lite C170 and imagePRESS Lite C165 (the imagePRESS
Lite C170 Series) are high-speed, high-performance color digital imaging
devices. The imagePRESS Lite C170 Series devices are intended for
In-plant Central Reproduction Department (CRD) facilities and copy rooms in
verticals such as real estate, faith-based organizations, education, and legal.
These models bring the following capabilities to end-users in a high-end office
and very light production environments:

•The imagePRESS Lite C170 is a Segment 4 device that prints and copies
at speeds of up to 70-ppm (pages per minute) Color and up to 80-ppm
B&W (Black and White) (Letter sized sheets).
•The imagePRESS Lite C165 is a Segment 4 device that prints and copies
Letter sized sheets at speeds of up to 65-ppm Color and up to 70-ppm
B&W.
•Standard Single-Pass Duplexing Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) and
Color Image Reader with a scanning speed of Up to 120 ipm (Color) at
300 dpi and a capacity of up to 300-sheets (20 lb bond (80 g/m2)).
•A 250 GB hard disk drive (HDD) expandable to a 1 TB HDD and 4 GB of
RAM (Random Access Memory)
•Standard paper sources include two (2) Paper Decks, two (2) Paper
Cassettes (also known as Paper Drawers) and one Multi-Purpose Tray that
combined, can hold a up to 3,550 sheets of paper (20 lb bond (80 g/m2)).
Optional paper input options increase the paper capacity to up to 7,050
sheets (20 lb bond (80 g/m2)).
•imagePRESS Lite main engine, POD Deck Lite, and Stack Bypass
supports a maximum paper size of 13" x 19.2”. The Long Sheet Tray
supports a maximum paper size of 13" x 51.2”.
•Standard USB 3.0 high-speed connectivity is available on the rear-right
side of the machine for connecting devices such as an external Hard Disk.
Standard USB 2.0 high-speed connectivity is available on the front-right
side of the machine for scanning to or printing from USB memory media.
•Standard Color Universal Send.
•Standard UFR II, PCL5, PCL6, Adobe PostScript 3, and
PDF/XPS/TIFF/JPEG Direct Printing.

•Standard embedded 10.1” Color Wide Super VGA high-resolution TFT
screen User Interface with pinch and flick operability and touchscreen
technology similar to that used on many smartphones. An optional Upright
Control Panel is available.
•The User Interface includes Personalized Quick Buttons accessible from
the integrated menu and can be moved according to individual user
preference. The Timeline displays the settings of the previous 10 jobs
performed (copy, scan, scan and send, store, and fax) and can be recalled
for easy access to those job settings. Timeline entries can be added as
Quick Buttons for each user.
•Standard wireless LAN Support for IEEE 802.11 b,g,n.
•Standard security features available with the imagePRESS Lite
C170 Series includes:

Platform), a common firmware base for the imagePRESS Lite C170 / C165
and the Third Generation imageRUNNER ADVANCE devices. This makes
it possible to unify development, and reflect the same functions and the
latest specifications in all supported devices.
•The imagePRESS Lite C170 / C165 machine is ENERGY STAR Certified.1

B. Features
1. Unified Firmware Platform
The UFP (Unified Firmware Platform) provides a common firmware base
for the imagePRESS Lite C170 Series, imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX
devices and imageRUNNER ADVANCE Third Generation devices. This
makes it possible to unify development, and reflect the same functions in
all supported devices.
The UFP has been designed for advanced functionality, high-reliability, and
ease of operation. The UFP enables digital-business communications,
such as imaging technology, cloud connectivity, and mobile solutions to
work together.
UFP updates are performed on a regular basis, and include new
specifications and enhancements. Critical bug fix firmware updates are
released as needed.
The UFP offers the following features and benefits across all supported
devices in your fleet:
•Consistent firmware updates (Updates are released on a regular
basis)
•New features with new specifications
•Error fixes (Critical bug fix firmware updates are released as needed)
The imagePRESS Lite C165 comes standard-equipped with UFP V3.10.
The imagePRESS Lite C170 comes standard-equipped with UFP V3.11.

D. Estimated Performance Standard
The EPS (Estimated Performance Standard) is an estimate of the maximum
print and scan volume the machine can achieve during its performance life.
The EPS is based on:
•Regular service by a Canon authorized service technician
•The use of recommended media
•The use of Genuine Canon service and consumable parts
The actual performance of the machine may vary, based on customer usage
factors, the physical environment in which the machine is installed, the types
of jobs performed, and the types of media used.
The following EPS values are for reference purposes only, and are based on
the use of LTR size paper.

E. Optimum Performance Range and Monthly Copy/Print Volume
1. The Optimum Performance Range
The optimum performance range is the volume range that the equipment
is intended to run on a regular basis to maintain a high-level of performance
and print/copy quality.
Running the equipment within this range ensures that no undue stress is
placed on components, and it allows time for the proper servicing and
maintenance of the equipment.
2. Maximum Monthly Copy/Print Volume
The maximum monthly copy/print volume is the maximum number of pages
the machine can produce within a one-month period (based on letter size
paper). However, the device should not be used to produce the maximum
number of pages, or a greater volume, on a consistent monthly basis.
Sustained use of the machine at this level, will significantly impact the long
term performance and durability of the machine. You should expect an
increase in the number of service calls and down time during periods of
