These cooker hoods are designed toextract unpleasant odours from the kitchen; theyare not intended to
extract steam.

Installation
§Installation work mustbeundertakenby aqualifiedelectrician or acompetentperson.
§Electricalconnectionmustbe by aqualified electrician.
§Thishood must be installedin accordance withthe installationinstructionsand all measurementsmust be
adheredto.
§If the cookerhood isinstalled for use above agas appliancethen the provisionfor ventilation must be in
accordance withtheGasSafetyCodesof Practice BS.6172,BS.5440 andBS.6891(NaturalGas) and BS.5482(LP
Gas) 1994, the GasSafety(Installation &Use) Regulations, theBuildingRegulations issued bythe Department of
the Environment,theBuilding standards (Scotland)(Consolidated)Regulationsissuedbythe Scottish
Development Department.
§The fanmotor ofthiscooker hood incorporates acut out device which willoperate ifthe motor becomes
overheated. Ifthe cut-out deviceisactivated, switchoffthefanmotor andallow thecookerhoodto cool.The
cut-out devicewill reset itself when the fanmotorhascooled significantly.
§It isdangerousto alter the specificationsor modify thisproductin any way.
§When installedbetween adjoining wallcabinetsthe wall cabinets must not overhangthe hob.
§If the roomwhere the hood is tobe used containsa fuel burning appliance suchas acentral heating boiler then
itsfluemustbe oftheroomsealed or balanced flue type.
§If other types of flue orappliancesarefitted ensurethat there is anadequate supply of air to the room.
§The ductingsystem for this appliance must not be connectedto anyexisting ventilationsystem whichisbeing
usedforany otherpurpose.
§This extractorissupplied withflexible ducting thatextends to 2 metres.
§If site conditionsmake it necessarytoextend the length, the size ofthe additionalductingmust not be ofa
lesser cross sectionalareaand the ductingoutlet mustprovide minimal flowresistance.Failure tofollow this
instructionwill increase the noise leveland overloadthe motor.THE GUARANTEEWILLALSOBE
INVALIDATED.
Child Safety
§Thisapplianceisdesigned tobe operated byadults. Childrenshouldnot beallowed totamperwiththe controls
or playwiththe appliance.
During Use
§This product is for domesticuse only.
§Never leave frying pansunattended during use asover-heated fats and oils might catchfire.
§Never doflambé cookingunder thiscooker hood.
§Do notleavenakedflamesunder thehood.
Maintenance and Service
§This appliance canbea hazardifthe metalfilters are not washed regularly.
§Ifcharcoal filtersarefittedthetype andfrequency ofcooking will determine when the charcoal filter willrequire
changing.In any case,these must bereplacedevery three/fourmonths.
§Underno circumstancesshouldyouattempt torepair the appliance yourself.Repairs carriedout by
inexperienced persons may cause injuryormoreserious malfunction. Refer toyourQ Service Centre.

To obtainthe best performance it isadvisable toswitch thehood on for a few minutesbefore you start cookingand
leave it running for approximately 15 minutes after cooking.

§Each timea button is pressed a “buzzer” will sound.
§When the mains poweristurnedon; thebuzzerwill sound five times.The sound showsthat
theappliance ispowered.
§Push the Lowbutton,the indicating light 1 comes onand the motor runsat low speed.Push
it again andthe motorwill stop.
§Push the Midbutton,the indicatinglight 2 comes onand the motor runs at mid speed. Push
it again andthe motorwill stop.
§Push the High button,the indicating light 3 comes onandthe motor runs at highspeed.
Push itagain andthe motorwillstop.
§Push the Lightbutton,the indicatinglight 4 comes on,and the two halogen lamps light.Pushit
again andthe lamps willturn off.

§Push the Low button and the motorrunsat lowspeed.
§Push the Mid button and the motorrunsat mid speed.
§Push the High button andthe motorruns at highspeed.
§Push the Light button and the two tungsten lamps light.Pushit againand the lamps will turn
off.
§Push the On/Off button toturnoff the lights and motor.
Recirculation
§Ifthe cooker hood is to be used in the recirculation mode the special charcoalfilter must be used.This is available
from yoursupplier as an accessory.
§The contaminatedair is cleaned by passing through the filters andthen back intothe kitchen.
§The charcoal filter absorbs odours arisingfrom cooking.
§In use itwill slowly become saturatedin grease and less effective.
§The charcoal filter normally requires changing after at least every three/four months ormore frequently ifthe hood
is used formore than three hoursperday.
§The air diverterwill also needto be fittedatthe top oftheextraction pipe todivert thecleaned air throughvent
grills in the top of the chimney section.
Extraction
§The contaminated air entersthe cookerhood passing through the metal greasefilter andout through the ducting
into the atmosphere.
§When used in theextraction modethe charcoal filter must not be fitted.
§Never doflambé cooking under thiscooker hood.
§Takeextra care whenfrying and neverleave frying pans unattendedduringuse,asover-heatedfats and oils can
catch fire.
§Do not leave naked flames underthe cookerhood.
§Ensure heating areas onyour hob are coveredwithpotsand panswhenusing the hob andcookerhood

simultaneously.
§Ensure not to damage thecharcoalfilter whencleaningor replacingastheactivated charcoalinside issaturated
with grease, whichwillstainif it comes into contact with clothingor furnishings.
§Before carryingoutany maintenance orcleaning isolate the cookerhood fromthe mains electricity supply.
§The cooker hood mustbe kept clean, a buildupof grease or fat canbea fire hazard.
External Cleaning
§Themetal casing, grill and chimneyshouldbe cleaned at leastonce amonthtokeep it lookinglike new.Wipe
over the hoodwith a softclothwrung out in mildsoapy water and thendrythoroughly.
§Never usescouring pads or abrasive cleaners asthey mayscratchor damage thesurfaces.
§Alwayswear protective gloveswhencleaningthe hood.
§Never useexcessiveamounts of waterwhencleaningparticularlyaroundthe controlpanel.
Metal Grease Filter
§The metal grease filter shouldbe cleanedat least every month.The filtermay be washed byhandusing mild
soapy water, or canbe machinewashedin a dishwasher.
§Remove the metalgrease filter cassette bypushing inwardlyonthe two steel handles; replace,makingsure the
handle hassprungback intoposition and is completely visible.
Charcoal Filter (for re-circulation use only)
§This isnot supplied with theextractorand should be purchasedfrom your supplieras an accessory.
§The charcoalfilter cannot be cleaned; it should be replaced approximately every three monthsor moreoften if
thehood isusedfor more than three hours perday.
§To remove the charcoal filter pushinwardlyonthe tworetaining clips todisengage the securityfixingand
remove.
§This appliance canbe afire hazard ifthe grease andcharcoalfilters are not cleanedand replacedas
recommended.
LIGHTING
Halogen lighting
§The lampsshouldbereplaced with 220-240V 20W halogenspot lamp.
§To Removethe Lamps: -
oUnscrew thetwo screws torelease the metal surround.
oRemovea lamp from theholder by pulling the lamp downwards.
§When fitting the new lamp ensure thetwo pinsarecorrectly inserted intothe slots inthelampholder.
§Handingthe lamp withun-covered fingers will reduce thelamplifeconsiderably..
Tungsten lighting
§The lamps shouldbereplaced with 220-240V 40W SESlamps.
§To Removethe Lamps: -
oTurn off the mainspower supply to the extractor.
oRemove metalgrease filters
oRemovelampsbyunscrewing anticlockwise.
§Replace withnew lamp screwing in clockwise.
§Refit metal greasefilters.
§Turnonpowersupply.

If,havingfollowed these instructions carefully,your cooker hoodfailstowork properlyplease carryout the following
checks.
Symptom CHECK
The cooker hoodwill not start §Check the hood is connected to the electricity supply.
§Checkthatthe fan speedcontrolis set to1,2 or 3.
The cooker hoodis not working
effectively §The fan speed is set highenoughforthe task.
§The grease filterisclean.
§The kitchen is adequatelyvented toallow theentry of fresh
air.
§Ifset up for recirculation, check thatthe charcoal filter is still
effective.
§Ifset up for extraction, check that the ductingand outlets are
notblocked.
The cooker hoodhas switched off
during operation. §The safetycut-out device has beentripped.
§Turn off the hob andthen wait for the device toreset.
•Ifafter all these checks,theproblempersists, telephone the QService Centre 0870 241 1142,quoting
the model and serialnumber.
•Please note thatit willbe necessary to provideproof ofpurchase foranyin-guarantee service calls.
•In-guaranteecustomers should ensurethatthe abovechecks havebeen made asthe engineer
will makea charge if the fault is not a mechanical or electrical breakdown.
Electrical Requirements
§Any permanent electricalinstallationmust comply with the latest I.E.E. Regulations. For your ownsafetythis
should be undertakenbya suitably qualified electricianwhoisonthe roll ofthe NationalInspectionCouncil for
ElectricalInstallationContracting(NICEIC).
§THIS PRODUCT MUST BE CORRECTLY EARTHED. The connectionmust bemadeasfollows: -
oBrown = Live
oBlue = neutral
oYellow/Green = Earth
Electrical Connection
§Before connectingtothe mainssupplyensure thatthemains voltage correspondstothevoltage onthe rating
plateinsidethe cooker hood.
§This appliance isfittedwitha 13ampplug for connectionto asuitable outlet whichshould be positionedfor easy
access.
§Ifit isintendedtoconnectdirectly tothe electricitysupply,theplugshouldbe removed and the 3core mains
cable and should be permanently connectedtothe electricitysupply via anapprovedSwitched Fused Spur outlet
meeting BS1363Part 4, fitted witha 3 Amp fuse.
§This applianceconforms to BS 800: 1988 and EEC Directive No. 78308regardingsuppressionofradioand
television interference.

§It is dangerous to alterthespecifications or attempt tomodify thisproduct in any way.
§Please ensure that whenthe appliance is installed it is easily accessible to an engineerintheeventof abreakdown.
§All installations must complywith the local authority’s requirements forthe discharge of exhaust air.
§Incorrect installation may affectthe safetyof thiscookerhood.
InstallationRequirements
§Before installation, checkthe wall to whichthe cooker hood is to be fitted to ensure that there are no electric
cables,water pipesor gas pipesthat will bedamagedby thefixing screwsforthe mountingbracket.
§Thecookerhood is designed to be fixed toasolid blockor brickwall. Ifthe wall is ofadifferentconstruction,
suitable fixingsmustbe used.
§The hood canbe used in the extraction (ductedto the outside) or recirculation (internal recycling) mode.
§The Installationworkmustbe undertakenbyaqualified and competentperson. The manufacturer disclaims any
responsibilitytodamages due toincorrect installation ofthecookerhood or ifthecookerhood isnot installedin
compliance withrelevant regulations controlling this type of installation.
Unpacking
Before unpacking the cooker hood positionthe carton with thearrowspointingupwards as illustratedon the carton.
Clearance Heights
•This cooker hood is designed to be fittedover a cooking applianceatthe clearance heights stated.
oElectric hob not exceeding 7kw a clearance heightof 650mm isrequired
oGashob not exceeding 10kw a clearance heightof 700mm is required.
•If the output of the appliance below thecooker hood exceeds the maximum outputs quoted for each kW in
excess of10kwthe distance between extractor and gas hob must be increased by
10cm.
However itis the manufacturer of the gas hob who determines theclearance required between
hob & extractor and the clearance quoted by the gashob manufacturer must be followed.
•There is no mandatoryclearance for electrichobsand the clearance as quoted above should be
followed.
•If the hob manufacturer provides no instructions,cannot provide the installer with the dimension or, in
the case of an old hob,no dimensionscan be found; theinstaller must followthe BS6172 “Default
Standard” and ensure that a clear “box”, as in the illustration below, exists above and around hob.
Note: The 760mm clearance is between the top of the burners and combustible material and not from the
worktop. In practice,since the burners are usually 30-40mm above the level of the worktop, this means the
clearance is effectively 790-800mm.

Qundertake that ifwithintwelve monthsofthe date of the purchase thisbuilt-inappliance or any part thereof that is
provedtobe defectivebyreason onlyof faulty workmanship or materials,thecompanywill, at ouroptionrepairor
replace the same FREEOF ANY CHARGE for labour, materialsor carriage on condition that:
§Documentation must be providedBEFORE aguaranteerepair iscommencedthat theextractor iswithinthe12
monthguarantee period.
§The appliance has been correctlyinstalled andusedonlyon theelectrical supply stated ontherating plate.
§Theappliance hasbeenused for normal domestic purposesonly,andinaccordance withthemanufacturer’s
operating andmaintenanceinstructions.
§The appliance hasnot been serviced, maintained,repaired,takenapart or tamperedwith byanypersonnot
authorized by us.
§Allservice workunderthisguaranteemustbe undertakenbyQ Service Centre.
§Any applianceor defective part replacedshallbecome the propertyof this company.
§Home visits are made between 8.30am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday.
§If a service call is made and it is found that theinstallation has not been carried out correctly or
customer misuse/abuse isinvolved THE COST OF THE SERVICE CALL HASTO BE PAID FOR BY THE
USER BEFORE ANY SERVICE WORK IS CARRIED OUT.
EXCLUSIONS
This Guarantee does not cover:
§Damageor calls resulting from transportation, improperuse or neglect, the replacement of any light bulbs or
removable parts of glass or plastic.
§Costsincurred for callstoput right appliancesimproperlyinstalledor calls toappliances outside the United
Kingdom.
§Appliancesfound tobe inuse withinacommercial environment,plusthose which are thesubject ofrental
agreements.
§Thisguarantee is in addition toyourstatutory andlegalrights.
