INSTRUCTION GUIDE
Key Pad Entry Alarm – HS4317D
ENCLOSED YOU WILL FIND:

BATTERIES NEEDED (not included):
• Three “AAA” alkaline batteries
INSTALLATION
For in oor use only. You must mount the alarm an magnet so the magnet rests
with its arrow pointing towar one of the alarm’s markings for proper alignment.
Choose a location that lets you install the magnet on a oor or win ow an the
alarm next to it on the frame or vice versa. The istance between the alarm an
the magnet must be no more than 5/16 inch. Use the supplie screws or the
supplie a hesive tape an follow these steps to mount the alarm an magnet.
1. Remove the screw on the bottom of the alarm an remove the back cover.
2. Use two screws or two of the pieces of supplie a hesive tape to mount the
back cover. If using tape, make sure mounting surfaces are free of ust, oil an
other substances that coul affect a hesion.
3. Install 3 “AAA” alkaline batteries onto appropriate terminals.
4. Sli e the alarm onto the back cover.
5. Replace the screw on the bottom of the alarm.
6. Use the two remaining screws or the other piece of the supplie a hesive tape
to mount the magnet so the arrow points towar one of the markings on either
si e of the alarm.
SETTING THE SECURITY CODE
You can set your own four- igit alarm security co e.
• Your alarm’s security co e is preset to 1234 at the factory. Be sure you use a
ifferent security co e.
• You must enter all four numbers within 10 secon s, or the re in icator turns off
an the alarm exits the proce ure an resets to the previous security co e.
• If you remove the battery, the security co e resets to 1234.
Follow these steps to set your own security co e.
1. Press keys 3 an 4 at the same time. The re in icator lights.
2. Enter the current security co e. The yellow in icator flashes.
Note: If this is the first time you are setting the co e, enter 1234.
3. Enter the esire four- igit co e. The yellow in icator will flash once an a short
beep will soun to in icate a security co e change.
ARMING/DISARMING
When the unit is powere up, two beeps will soun an then the unit will be in the
off mo e. The unit can be turne on by pressing the keys 1 an 2 at the same
time. A beep will soun in icating the unit is arme . The unit can be turne off by
pressing the keys 1 an 2 at the same time. Two beeps will soun in icating the
unit is isarme . To change between chime an alarm mo e, the unit has to be
turne off first an set to the esire mo e. Then turn on the unit.
1. Chime Mode
Simply set the mo e switch to ”chime” an turn on the unit. The electronic chimes
soun when someone opens the oor. If not, rea just the position of the magnet.
2. Alarm Mode
Set the alarm’s mo e switch to ”instant” or “ elay” an turn on the unit. Then close
the oor. A beep will soun to in icate the unit is arme .
Note: If you on’t close the oor within about 30 secon s, a continuous beeping
soun will alert you that the oor is not close . You can only turn off the beeping
soun by closing the oor.

The alarm soun s when someone opens the oor. In elay mo e, you will have
about 10 secon s to enter the security co e before the alarm soun s. In instant
mo e, the alarm will soun instantly for about 60 secon s or until you enter the
security co e.
Note: After about 60 secon s, the alarm automatically shuts off an is arme
again. The green in icator will flash to in icate there was an intrusion.
Note: You cannot silence the alarm by pressing the keys 1 an 2 at the same time.
You must enter the security co e or wait about 60 secon s for the alarm to stop
soun ing.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT
If one of the following con itions occurs, replace the batteries:
• The re LED flashes an a short beep soun s every 20 secon s
• The chimes’ or alarm’s soun becomes weak
• The alarm oes not work at all when the oor opens
Note: For longer battery life, use alkaline batteries. If the alarm oes not respon
after you replace the battery, remove the battery an reinstall it. Each time you
remove the battery, the security co e resets to 1234.
