3. Prepare karaoke songs in your PC.
You can download the ready made MCG-MP3 files of karaoke songs from www.ipskaraoke.com
into your PC. There are thousands of karaoke songs available for download. Also you can create
the MCG-MP3 files from CD+G discs that are available in most karaoke outlets using IPS
Manager program which can be downloaded from www.ipskaraoke.com.
•How to download MCG-MP3 files of karaoke songs from www.ipskaraoke.com:
oGo to www.ipskaraoke.com and purchase to download a song.
oSave the downloaded song into your PC. The song will be saved as a ZIP file
(xxxxxxxx-mcg.zip).

oIn the next window, specify the target folder, into which the unzipped file will be
stored, and click on Extract.
oThe MCG-MP3 file (xxxxxxxx-mcg.mp3) of the song will be unzipped and stored
in the target folder.
oNote: If you are not using Windows XP, download Winzip or Tugzip program form
Internet to unzip the ZIP file.

oFor more detail instruction on how to download karaoke songs from
www.ipskaraoke.com, see (PDF).
•How to extract MCG-MP3 files of karaoke songs from CD+G discs*:
oDownload
IPS Manager program from www.ipskaraoke.com and install in your
PC.
oInsert the CD+G disc into the disc drive*.

CD+G disc, and select as TARGET a new folder in your PC.

tracks.

oFor more detail instructions on how to encode karaoke songs from CD+G discs,
see the HELP menu in IPS Manager Program.
for the latest list of the CD+G compatible disc drives.
4. Store karaoke songs in your device
From the previous steps, you should now have a folder in your PC with karaoke song files in the
format of MCG-MP3 (for example, 20001234-mcg.mp3). The karaoke song files could have been
downloaded from the online website or extracted from CD+G discs. You should also have your
device (iPod®, MP3 player, other USB devices) connected to the PC.
The MCG-MP3 karaoke song files can be stored into your device (iPod®, MP3 player, or other
USB devices) for play in File Library system or INX menu system of CAVS IPS-11G.
•File Library
oFor iPod®, wait for the iTunes®program to begin after connecting your iPod®to
PC. Now you have two ways to transfer the MCG-MP3 files from PC into your iPod®.
First, import the karaoke files into the Library of iTunes®as you would for
any MP3 files, and use the Sync or manually copy to transfer the file into
your iPod®.
Second, copy the MCG-MP3 files into the new folder (for example,
KARAOKE) in your iPod® via My Computer.
oFor MP3 players or other USB devices, copy the MCG-MP3 files into the folder
(for example, KARAOKE) in your device.
When playing the songs in CAVS IPS-11G, the File Library system, which is basically a
DOS file menu, will let you browse through the files and folders in your device. For the
instruction on how to play karaoke songs, see Section 7. Karaoke in the User’s Manual of
CAVS IPS-11G.
The advantage of File Library system is that it is simple and easy to use. The
disadvantage of using File Library system is that the number of songs per folder is limited
at 1,000, and the finding or selecting a song using directional buttons becomes
cumbersome as the number of songs increases.

•INX menu
INX menu helps to organize a larger number of songs (up to 10,000) in any single folder
of your device. It provides the search function by song number, title, or artist name, and
also the feature to program up to 10 songs at a time.
To enable the INX menu, the karaoke song files must be renamed with a set of
sequential numbers that starts from 1 (or 00001). A menu file, ENGLISH.inx, must also
be created from the karaoke song files and stored together in the folder of your device.
Warning: INX menu will not work in an existing folder inside the Library of iPod®. For
INX menu features, you must create a new folder inside your iPod® and store the
karaoke files and ENGLISH.inx in the new folder.
We assume that all the MCG-MP3 karaoke song files, prepared in the previous steps by
download or extraction, are collected in a single folder (hereinafter referred to as MCG-
MP3) of your PC.
oDownload the
IPS Manager Program from www.ipskaraoke.com and install.
oStart the IPS Manager program and open as SOURCE the folder containing the
MCG-MP3 karaoke song files.
oSelect as TARGET a new empty folder.
oCheck the CavsFiles option on the lower left corner of the program.
oCheck the karaoke song files, or use the CheckAll option to select all the song
files.
oInput the INDEX for the karaoke song files. You can press the INDEX-TITLE
button to assign the INDEX automatically or import the INDEX from an existing
text file.
oPress the Encode button. A pop-up window for Encode Process will open.
oSelect the Create ENGLISH.INX option.
oPress Start to begin encoding.
Watch for any error message that may appear during the encoding process. If
any error message is issued, correct the error and repeat the encoding. You can
press the Log button to review the error messages that appeared during the
current session.
oWhen finished, the newly created ENGLISH.inx and the newly renamed karaoke
song files will be in the TARGET folder. Copy the karaoke song files and the
ENGLISH.INX into the folder (for example KARAOKE) in your device.
oYour device is now ready for use with CAVS IPS-11G Karaoke Station. See the
User’s Manual of CAVS IPS-11G for instruction on how to connect your device to
CAVS IPS-11G and play.
oFor more detail instruction on how to make ENGLISH.inx file, see HELP menu in
IPS Manager program.
oYou can print the song list by pressing Print button in the IPS Manager program.
When the folder in your device contains ENGLISH.inx file inside along with the karaoke
song files, the INX menu system will automatically pop up in the TV screen each time you
enter the folder using CAVS IPS-11G Karaoke Station. To exit the INX menu, press the
HOME key on the remote control and you will return to the Main menu.
