GENERAL SAFETY RULES
WARNING!
READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL INSTRUCTIONS
Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in
electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
WORK AREA
Keep your work area clean and well lit. Cluttered and dark areas invite acci-
dents.
Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the pres-
ence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools create sparks which may
ignite the dust or fumes.
Keep bystanders, children, and visitors away while operating a power tool.
Distractions can cause you to lose control. Protect others in the work area from
debris such as chips and sparks. Provide barriers or shields as needed. Children
should never be allowed in the work area.
PERSONAL SAFETY
Stay alert. Watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operat-
ing a power tool. Do not use a power tool while tired or under the influence
of drugs, alcohol, or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power
tools may result in serious personal injury.
Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Contain long hair.
Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes,
jewelry, or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
Remove adjusting keys or wrenches before turning the power tool on. A
wrench or a key that is left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result
in personal injury.
Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Proper footing
and balance enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Dust mask, nonskid safety
shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection must be used for appropriate conditions. Al-
ways wear ANSI-approved safety goggles and a dust mask/respirator when using

TOOL USE AND CARE
Do not force the tool. Use the correct tool for your application. The correct
tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it is designed. Do not force
the tool and do not use the tool for a purpose for which it is not intended.
Do not use the power tool if the Engine’s Ignition Switch does not turn it on
or off. Any tool that cannot be controlled with the Ignition Switch is dangerous and
must be replaced.
Disconnect the Spark Plug Wire from the Engine before making any adjust-
ments, changing accessories, or storing the tool. Such preventive safety
measures reduce the risk of starting the tool accidentally. Always disconnect the
Spark Plug Wire before performing any inspection, maintenance, or cleaning
procedures.
Store idle tools out of reach of children and other untrained persons. Tools
are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
Maintain tools with care. Keep the Mortar Mixer clean. Properly maintained
tools are less likely to malfunction and are easier to control. Do not use a damaged
tool. Tag damaged tools “Do not use” until repaired.
Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, and any
other condition that may affect the tool’s operation. If damaged, have the tool
serviced before using. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained tools.
Use only accessories that are recommended by the manufacturer for your
model. Accessories that may be suitable for one tool may become hazardous
when used on another tool.
SERVICE
Tool service must be performed only by qualified repair personnel. Service or
maintenance performed by unqualified personnel could result in a risk of injury.
When servicing a tool, use only identical replacement parts. Follow instruc-
tions in the “Inspection, Maintenance, And Cleaning” section of this manual.
Use of unauthorized parts or failure to follow maintenance instructions may create
a risk of injury.

information. If unreadable or missing, contact Harbor Freight Tools for a replace-
ment.
Maintain a safe working environment. Make sure there is adequate surrounding
workspace.
Avoid unintentional starting. Make sure you are prepared to begin work before
turning on the Mortar Mixer.
People with pacemakers should consult their physician(s) before use. Elec-
tromagnetic fields in close proximity to a heart pacemaker could cause pacemaker
interference or pacemaker failure. Caution is necessary when near the Engine’s
magneto or recoil starter.
Never leave the Mortar Mixer unattended when it is running. Turn off the Engine
of the Mortar Mixer before leaving the work area.
Always use the Mortar Mixer on a flat, level, dry ground surface and chock
both wheels to prevent accidental movement of the unit.
Make sure to keep hands and fingers away from all moving parts of the Mortar
Mixer.
This Mortar Mixer is not designed for highway use. Do not exceed 45 miles
per hour when towing the Mortar Mixer. Excess speed is a major cause of vehicle/
Mortar Mixer accidents.
Prior to towing the Mortar Mixer make sure to read and understand all instruc-
tions and safety precautions as outlined in the owner’s manual for the towing
vehicle. Make sure the towing vehicle is capable of towing the Mortar Mixer (weight
approximately 600 pounds empty). Make sure the hitch on the towing vehicle is
capable of towing the Mortar Mixer. The towing capacity of the hitch is typically
stamped on the hitch drawbar.
Make sure the Tow Chains are properly connected to the towing vehicle. Do
not allow the Chains to drag the ground surface when towing.

pressure (60 PSI cold).
Prior to using the Mortar Mixer, make sure you read and understand this in-
struction manual and the Engine manufacturer’s instruction manual.
Keep a safe clearance around the Mortar Mixer. Keep all people (except the
operator) a minimum of six feet from the Mixer during operation.
Do not overload the Mortar Mixer (maximum two bags cement mix per batch).
An overload may damage the unit.
Do not attempt to move the Mortar Mixer when it is full or in operation.
WARNING! Some dust created by power sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling,
and other construction activities, contains chemicals known [to the State of Califor-
nia] to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. Some examples of
these chemicals are:
Lead from lead-based paints
Crystalline silica from bricks and cement or other masonry products
Arsenic and chromium from chemically treated lumber
Your risk from these exposures varies, depending on how often you do this type of
work. To reduce your exposure to these chemicals: work in a well ventilated area,
and work with approved safety equipment, such as those dust masks that are spe-
cially designed to filter out microscopic particles. (California Health & Safety Code
§ 25249.5, et seq.)
TOXIC FUMES, FIRE, AND EXPLOSION PRECAUTIONS
This Mortar Mixer is designed for outdoor use only. Do not operate the Mixer
in a closed area or in a poorly ventilated area. When running, the Engine of
this unit produces carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless, toxic gas that, when
inhaled, can cause serious personal injury or death. Whenever possible, use
a carbon monoxide detector (not included) to detect excessive carbon monoxide
fumes in the work area and in the surrounding area.
Gasoline fuel and fumes are flammable, and potentially explosive. Use proper
fuel storage and handling procedures. Always have multiple ABC class fire extin-
guishers nearby.

(2). Insert the Bearings (11) and Oil Seals (10) on the ends of the Wheel Shaft.
Screw a Castle Nut (12) tightly on the ends of the Wheel Shaft. Then back the
Castle Nuts off slightly so that the Hubs (7) can just move freely.
(See Figure G.)
Place a Wheel (8) on each Hub (7). Secure the Wheels to the Hubs, using four
Lug Nuts (9) per Wheel. NOTE: Make sure to tighten (torque) the Lug Nuts to
at least 90 Ft.-Lb. (See Figure G.)
Insert a Cotter Pin (13) through the hole at each end of the Wheel Shaft (2) and
spread the Cotter Pins. (See Figure G.)
