Using this powerful tool may create special hazards.
Operating the Saw.
1. Avoid overloadingthesaw.If thespeeddrops abnormally,decreasethepressureimmediately.
2. Always usesharpblades whicharesuited tothematerial youare cutting.Ifthe bladestopsabruptly,
orbecomesblocked, turnoffthepowerswitchimmediately.
3. Do notapplyexcessive pressuretothe workpiecewhile cutting.
4. Be carefultouse thepower switchproperly.Be awarethatthesawwill continueto
operatewhilethepowerswitchisON.YoumustmanuallyturntheswitchtoOFFtostopthemotor.
5. Never startthesaw whiletheblade isin contactwithany material.Allowthe sawtoreach its
normaloperating speedbeforeapplying theworkpieceto theblade.
6. Never operatethe sawifthemetalsafety guard(drop foot)is notin place.
7. Never touchtheblade, upperblade holderorany othermoving partswhilethe sawis inoperation.
8. Never walkawayfrom thesawuntilit hasstoppedoperating completely.
9. Before cutting,adjustthe dropfoottorideon thesurfaceof theworkpiece.This willprevent the
workpiecefrom “jumping”upand down,whichcan damagethe workpiece,thesaw, andtheblade.
10. Hold theworkpiecefirmlywhile cutting.Theactionofthebladeagainsttheworkpiece cancauseit
to“kick out”.If youexperienceexcessive “kickout” checkyour bladetoassure thatit isthe proper
typeforthe materialbeingcut, thatitis installedwiththeteeth down,andthat itissharp.
11. Always wearANSIcertified eyeprotection,and donotallow othersnearbywhen usingthistool.
Cuttingsandsplinters canbeejectedat highspeedwhilecutting.
12. Do nothandlethebladeimmediately afteruse;itmaybe veryhot,potentiallycausingburns
or injury.
13. Makesure theworkpieceisfreeof nailsorother debriswhichcan interferewiththe cuttingprocess,
andpossiblycause damageorinjury.
14. Your sawmust bebolted orclamped to theworkbench priorto use.
Ensure the safety of the workplace.
1. Always wearANSI-approvedeyeprotection whentrimming.
2. Clear theworkarea ofanyparts ordebris thatcouldcause injurybyinterfering withthe
cuttingprocess.
3. Removetrimmed offsections immediatelytopreventtheir being ejectedbythesaw.
4. Keep childrenandunauthorizedpersons awayfromthearea whencutting.
5. Avoiddistractionswhilecutting.
6. Never leavethesaw unattendedwherechildrenor unauthorizedpersonscan useitwithout
supervision.
Inspect the Scroll Saw before use.
1. Before cutting,runthe toolforabout10 secondstoensure thatallmoving partsarerunning
smoothlyand thereareno looseparts,rattles,orsparking thatwouldindicate damage.
2. Repair anydamagebeforeusingthistool.
3. Be surethebladeis firmlyandproperlyinstalled beforeuse.Improperlyinstalled bladesmayeject
suddenlyathigh speedfromthe saw.

Use only UL approved extension cord.

4. Always inspect power cords and extension cords for damage before use. Never plug in a
power cord that is not in good condition.

BASICOPERATION
Thissawuses averythin, veryfineblade,which movesupand
downathighspeed.Thistype ofsawis idealformaking
detailedcurvedcutsinrelativelythin materials.Fretwork,signs,
andgingerbreaddecorationscanbereadilymadewithascrollsaw.
1. After selectingandinstalling theproperblade forthework athand,position theworkpieceon the
table.
2. Lower thefootonto theworkpiece, sothatit justrests onthesurface ofthe material.Tightenthe
footintoposition withtheknob.
3. With thematerialnot touchingthe blade,turnthe powerON bypressingthe upperpart ofthe
rockerswitch.
4. When thesaw hascomeup tofull speed,gently pushtheedgeofthe workpieceinto theblade.
Noticehow wellthe blademakes thecut.Adjust thespeed ifnecessary.
NOTE: In general, harder and thinner materials require finer saw teeth and higher speeds. Softer and
thicker materials generally require slower speeds. Finding the ideal saw blade and speed combina-
tion may require some experimentation and experience.
5. As youwork,remove cutoff piecesofwork material.
6. For cuttingenclosedareas,first drillahole throughthecut-outarea, installthebladethrough the
hole,then cutoutthe enclosedarea withthescroll saw.
7. Keep yourhands awayfromthe sawblade whileusing thissaw.Where possible,use apushstick to
guidethe workpieceintothe blade,keepingyour handsaway.

1. Table. Providesaworkingsurfacetosupporttheworkpiece.
2. SawdustBlower. Keepsyourworkpiececleanformoreaccuratescrollcuts.For bestresults,adjustthe
blowertothepointatwhichthebladeiscutting.Toadjust,loosenthesetscrewinthedropfoot,positionthe
blowerandretightenthescrew. CAUTION:donotovertightenthescrew,whichmaycollapsethetube.
3. PowerCord.Thisisa3-wireULapprovedcordandCSA-approvedgroundedplugforuseina110-120Volt,
60Hzoutletonly.Besureyourpowersupplyisprotectedwithanappropriate breakerswitch.
4. DropFoot.Thefootshouldalwaysbeadjustedsoitjustrestsontopoftheworkpiece..Youwanttopreventthe
workpiecefromlifting,butnotcreatedragonthesurface.
5. DropFootLockKnob.Loosenandtightenthisknobasyouadjustthedropfoot.
6. BladeTensionKnob.Allowsyoutoloosenortightenthebladetension.Youalsousethisknobwhenreplacing
theblade.
7. TableLockKnob.Thisknoballowsyoutoadjustthetableangleupto45degrees.
8. DegreeScale.Thisscaleindicatesthedegreefromhorizontalthatyouhavethetableset.
9. PowerSwitch.TurntheswitchuptoturnON,anddowntoturnOFF.
10. ElectricalBreakerSwitch.Thisfusewillautomaticallycutoffpowertothesawintheeventofashortor
surgeinthepowersupply.Ifthefuseactivates,findandrepairthesourceoftheproblembeforereplacingthefuse.
11. SpeedControl.Turnthisknobtotherighttoincreasesawbladespeed,andtothelefttoreducespeed.
12. TableInsert.Thisshouldalwaysbeinplaceandflushwiththetableduringthecuttingoperation.

INSTALLINGTHESAWBLADE
Your new scroll saw accepts 5” pin-type blades. Your saw is also equipped with blade
adapters that allow you to use a variety of 5” plain-end blades.
WARNING: To prevent personal injury, always disconnect the plug from the power source
before changing blades or making adjustments.
1. Rotate thebladetension knobcounter-clockwise toreleaseblade tension.
2. Remove thetableinsert andremovethe bladefromthe upperandlowerbladeholdersbypulling
forwardonthe bladeandthen liftingthebladethrough theaccesshole inthetable.Slight downward
pressureagainstthe upperholdermaybe helpfulwhenremovingthe bladefromupperholder.
3. Look atthe bladeholders closelyandnotice theblade slotsand recessesin theblade holders.The
bladeholders aremadeso youcan positiontheblade forcutting fromthefront orfromthe sideof
thesaw asshowninFigure3above. Cuttingfromthe sideof thesawwillbenecessary ifyour
workpieceexceeds 16inchesin length.Thisallowsyour scrollsawto cutlike abandsaw.This
optionisfor0Otablesetting only.
4. In ordertocut, andto avoiduncontrollablelifting ofthe workpiece,theteeth oftheblade usedon
thescrollsaw shouldalwayspointdownward.
5. Install thebladeby insertingone endofthe bladethroughthe accesshole inthetable andhookthe
bladepin inthe pinrecessin thelower bladeholder.Slide thetop bladepininto thepin recessofthe
innerupper bladeholder.You mayneedto pressdownlightly ontheupper bladeholderto install
theblade.
6. Carefully tightenthebladebyrotating thebladetensionknobclockwise untilyoufeeltheslack inthe
blade removed.Double checkto seethat pinsare properlylocatedin theblade holder.Then turn
thebladetension knobONEfullturn clockwise.Thisamountof bladetensionshoulddowellfor
mostcuttingoperations andblades.

ADJUSTINGANDUSINGTHETABLEALIGNMENTFEATURE
Aligning the Degree Scale Pointer
1. Loosen thetablelock knobandmovethetable untilitis
approximatelyperpendicular,thatis,atarightangle to
theblade.
2. Place asmall squareon thetable nextto theblade as
shownin Figure4 tocheckif thetable is90O to the
blade.If adjustmentis needed,raiseor lowerthe table
untilit isasclose to90Oaspossible. Securelytightenthe
tablelock knob.
3. Loosen thescrewholding thedegree scalepointer,as
shown in Figure 4. Movethe pointerto the 0Odegree
markeron thescale,and securelytightenthe screw.
Rememberthescale isaconvenientguide, butshouldnot
bereliedupon forextremelyaccurate cutting.Make
practicecuts inscrapwood todetermineif yourangle
settingsare correct.
Setting the Table for Horizontal or Bevel Cutting.
1. Loosen thetable lockknob,and thesaw table canbe
tiltedto theleftandlockedinanyangle from0O degree
horizontalcuttingpositionupto 45Oforbevel cutting.
2. A degreescale isalso providedunder thework table asa
convenientreferenceforsettingtheapproximatetable
angleforbevelcutting.Whengreaterprecisionis
required,make practicecuts andadjust thetable as
necessaryforyourrequirements.
3. NOTE: Whencuttingat angles,the dropfootcan betilted
soitis parallelwiththetable surface,andrestsflush
againstthe workpiece.To tiltdropfoot, loosentheallen
screw,tiltthe footsoit isparallelwith thetable,and then
securelyretightenthescrew.
