Blade is to be backed out of an un-

GROUNDING

WIRE CONNECTION:
Check with a qualied
electrician if you are in doubt
as to whether the outlet is
properly grounded. Do not
modify the power cord plug
provided with the tool. Never
remove the grounding prong
from the plug. Do not use the
tool if the power cord or plug
is damaged. If damaged, have
it repaired by a service facility
before use. If the plug will not
t the outlet, have a proper
outlet installed by a qualied
electrician.
Grounded Tools: Tools with Three
Prong Plugs
Tools marked with “Grounding Re-1.
quired” have a three wire cord and
three prong grounding plug. The

plug must be connected to a properly
grounded outlet. If the tool should
electrically malfunction or break
down, grounding provides a low
resistance path to carry electricity
away from the user, reducing the risk
of electric shock. (See 3-Prong Plug
and Outlet.)
The grounding prong in the plug is2.
connected through the green wire in-
side the cord to the grounding system
in the tool. The green wire in the cord
must be the only wire connected to
the tool’s grounding system and must
never be attached to an electrically
“live” terminal. (See 3-Prong Plug
and Outlet.)
The tool must be plugged into an3.
appropriate outlet, properly installed
and grounded in accordance with all
codes and ordinances. The plug and
outlet should look like those in the
preceding illustration. (See 3-Prong

Double Insulated Tools: Tools
with Two Prong Plugs
Tools marked “Double Insulated” do1.
not require grounding. They have
a special double insulation system

and complies with the applicable
standards of Underwriters Labora-
tories, Inc., the Canadian Standard
Association, and the National Electri-
cal Code. (See Outlets for 2-Prong
Plug.)
Double insulated tools may be used2.

EXTENSION CORDS
Grounded tools require a three wire1.
extension cord. Double Insulated
tools can use either a two or three
wire extension cord.
As the distance from the supply outlet2.
increases, you must use a heavier
gauge extension cord. Using exten-
sion cords with inadequately sized
wire causes a serious drop in voltage,
resulting in loss of power and pos-
sible tool damage.

The smaller the gauge number of the3.
wire, the greater the capacity of the
cord. For example, a 14 gauge cord
can carry a higher current than a 16
gauge cord. (See Table A.)
When using more than one exten-4.
sion cord to make up the total length,
make sure each cord contains at
least the minimum wire size required.

If you are using one extension cord5.
for more than one tool, add the

to determine the required minimum

To Attach The Wheels To The Back
Floor Stands:
Attach the Wheel Frame (8) to the1.
two Back Floor Stands (6) using two
Hex Head Screws (3), two Washers
(4), and two Hex Nuts (7).
(See Figure A.)
Attach one Wheel (12) to the Wheel2.
Frame (8) using one Wheel Bolt
(127), one Washer (4), one Spring
Washer (11), and one Hex Nut (7).
Repeat this step for the remaining
Wheel. (See Figure A.)

To Attach The Floor Stand Handle To
The Front Floor Stands:
Insert the Floor Stand Handle (1) into1.
the two Front Floor Stands (5). Then
use two Cotter Pins (2) to secure the
Floor Stand Handle to the two Front
Floor Stands. Make sure to bend the
Cotter Pins to keep them in place.

Stands And Front Floor Stands:
Use a proper lifting device to raise the1.
Bed (55) of the Bandsaw just enough
to insert the tops of the Back Floor
Stands (6) and Front Floor Stands (5)
inside the corners of the Bed. Make
sure the Back Floor Stands are posi-
tioned at the motor end.

For2. each of the four Floor Stands (5,
6) use two Hex Head Screws (56),
two Washers (4), and one Hex Nut
(7) to secure the Floor Stand to the
Bed (55). (See Figure C, next page.)

TO PREVENT
SERIOUS INJURY
FROM ACCIDENTAL
OPERATION:
Turn the Power Switch of the
tool to its “OFF” position and
unplug the tool from its
electrical outlet before
performing any adjustments
or maintenance procedures.
Blade Guide Bearing Adjustment:
The Blade Guide Bearings (71)1. must
be properly adjusted to make square
cuts. (See Figure F.)
The Blade Guide Bearings (71) are2.
adjusted and tested by the Bandsaw
manufacturer to ensure proper set-
ting. The need for adjustment should
rarely occur if the Bandsaw is oper-
ated properly. If the Blade Guide
Bearings do get out of adjustment, it
is important to readjust immediately.
There should be 0.001” clearance3.
between the Saw Blade (86) and the
Blade Guide Bearings (71). To obtain
this clearance:
The outer Blade Guide Bearings
(71) are mounted to a Guide Pivot
(72, 74) and can be adjusted. (The
inner Blade Guide Bearing is not
adjustable.(See Figure F.)
Loosen the Hex Nut (7) while hold-
ing the Guide Pivot (72, 74) with a
wrench. (See Figure F.)
Use a steel 0.001” feeler gauge.
Rotate Guide Pivot (72,74) to in-
crease or decrease the clearance
between Saw Blade and the Guide
Bearings. Then tighten the Hex Nut
(7). (See Figure F.)
Adjust the second Blade Guide
Bearing (71) in the same manner.
NOTE: The back edge of the Saw
Blade should just touch the lip of
the Blade Guide Bearing (71).

tion of the Blade Guide Bearings (71)
span for various workpiece widths.

To obtain the most accurate cut and2.

Place the workpiece in the Vise
(34, 36) of the Bandsaw and tightly

Raise or lower the Blade Guide
Assembly by loosening the Blade
Guide Adjustment Screw (67) and
positioning the Blade Guide Bear-
ings (71) as required. Then tighten
the Blade Guide Adjustment Screw
(67). (See Figure G.)

Blade Tension Adjustment:
Turn the Blade Tension Adjusting1.
Knob (125) clockwise to increase
tension on the Saw Blade (86). Turn
the Blade Tension Adjusting Knob
counterclockwise to decrease tension
on the Saw Blade. Correct tension is
acquired when the Saw Blade is just
tight enough so that no slippage oc-
curs between the Saw Blade and the
Blade Wheels (64, 83).

Upper Pulley Cover (92). Place the V-
Belt (128) around the desired grooves
in the Worm Gear Pulley (115) and

Motor Pulley (93). Next, move the
Motor backwards to tighten the ten-
sion on the V-Belt. Then, retighten
the Screw to secure the Motor in
place. (See Figures M, N, and O.)
WARNING!3. Always securely close
the Upper Pulley Cover (92) after ad-
justing the cutting speed or replacing
the V-Belt (128). (See Figure N.)

large workpiece, make sure its en-
tire length is properly supported. If

the Stock Stop (29) to the desired
position.

equipment. If abnormal noise
or vibration occurs, have the
problem corrected before
further use.
Cleaning, Maintenance, and
Lubrication
BEFORE EACH USE, inspect the gen-1.
eral condition of the Bandsaw. Check
for loose screws, misalignment or bind-
ing of moving parts, cracked or broken
parts, damaged electrical wiring, and
any other condition that may affect its
safe operation.
SAW BLADE MAINTENANCE: Inspect2.
the Saw Blade (86). Using a dull Saw
Blade will cause excessive wear on
the Motor of the Bandsaw and will not
produce a satisfactory cut. Replace
with a new Saw Blade when needed.
