2. Introduction
2.1 Preface
Is it important that you follow the operating instructions closely to ensure the product
functions correctly. Please read the operating manual carefully, paying close attention to
the safety instructions provided.
The maintenance, inspection, assembly and installation as well as any technical support
on the product must be provided by BEKA Hospitec or by specialised companies
authorised by BEKA Hospitec. The operation of the product as well as technical support
must only be carried out by specially trained personnel.
2.2 Liability and warranty
On the basis of the information contained in this manual, the publisher accepts no liability
for damages resulting from improper, incorrect or inappropriate use of the product. The
product must only be operated by persons, who are familiar with the manual and the
product as well as the national regulations, laws and prescriptions related to work, safety
and accident prevention.
The manufacturer of the product is only responsible for the safety and the reliability of the
product, if regular functional tests and checks are conducted. Operate the product only
with approved accessories, otherwise the manufacturer’s liability will expire.
In case of technical interventions, such as extensions and fittings to our products, which
are not carried out by BEKA Hospitec either by a specialist company authorised by BEKA
Hospitec, all warranty rights on the modifications as well as on the device or on the device
function, which are related to the modification, shall expire.
For damages resulting from the use of spare parts and accessories, which are not
authorized by the manufacturer, any further liability of the manufacturer shall be excluded.
Please note that there might be minor differences between the images and explanations
contained in this manual and the actual supplied device. Subject to technical
modifications and error.
The product is equipped with “B”-Type applied parts. All exposed, touchable, conductive
parts are thereby considered as applied part.

3. The operating manual
3.1 Validity
This operating manual contains information required for the safe operation and use of the
product. In addition to descriptions of the equipment, the operating manual also includes
a number of illustrations. The equipment of the product may differ in part from the
descriptions and illustrations. Please follow the manuals when cleaning and disinfecting
as well as assembling and disassembling individual components.
Please read the operating manual and the safety instructions before starting use. Keep
the operating manual near the device for future reference.
3.2 Type plate
This image shows the type plate.
The type plate is located at the rear
side of the scale.
The shown serial number (SN) 0126
is just an example.
In case of queries, please mention
the serial number printed on the
type plate of your device.
Note: Because of legal regulations,
it may be required that the article
number and the serial number be
computer-readable as well printed
on the type plate in the form of a bar
code.
3.3 Description
In this manual, the product will be called “scale”.

4. Safety
4.1 Intended and appropriate use
The product is intended for weighing patients. The product is designed for short-term use
and must not come into contact with injured or damaged skin.
4.2 Safety instructions
Please read the following safety instructions prior to using the product. All notes,
specifications and warnings mentioned on the device as well as in the operating manual
must be followed precisely to avoid any harm. BEKA Hospitec shall not accept any liability
for any damages, failures or faults caused by improper operation or handling.
The scale meets the requirements of 90/384/EEC and 73/23/EEC and is
interference-suppressed according to the applicable EC-Directive 89/336/EEC.
The safety technology of the device may be changed. Each alteration shall exclude
the liability from BEKA Hospitec for the resulting damages.
Any repairs, soldering operations to the circuit board and the exchange of parts is
prohibited. Repairs may only be carried out by persons authorized by BEKA
Hospitec.
Waste equipment that is no longer functional or suitable for use must be disposed
of separately from normal household wastes, in accordance with the national and
local regulations on environmental protection and raw material recycling.

5. Installation
The scale is supplied ready for use. Connection to lift is required if installed after original
purchase.
5.1 Battery
For the operation of the scale, 6 AAA-batteries are required.

ON/OFF/ZERO/TARE button
With this button, you can perform the following actions:
Press the button to switch the scale on.
Press the button for 3 seconds to switch the scale off.
Press the button to return to “ZERO”.
Press the button to tare the weight
HOLD/Settings button
With this button, you can perform the following actions:
Press the button to set up the scale.
Press the button to capture/hold the result of the weighing process.
Press the button again to release the locking function.
6.3 Set-up Options
Set automatic shutdown
Follow the instructions to set the time for automatic shutdown:
•Switch the scale on with the ON/OFF/ZERO/TARE button
•Wait a few seconds, until the scale displays 0.0 kg (0 lbs)
•Press the HOLD/Settings button until you are in SET mode
•Wait a few seconds until the message A_OFF is displayed on the screen
•Press the ON/OFF/ZERO/TARE button to activate the mode. The menu, in which
you can the set seconds for the automatic shutdown, is now displayed on the
screen.
•Press the HOLD/Settings button to switch between the different times
120/180/240/300/OFF.
•Press the ON/OFF/ZERO/TARE button to confirm your choice. The message
A_OFF is now displayed on the screen.
•Press the HOLD/Settings button until the message END is displayed on the screen
•Press the ON/OFF/ZERO/TARE button to terminate the setting procedure.
After a few seconds, you will be redirected to the weighing process

Set the acoustic signal (beep)
Follow the instructions to switch the acoustic signal on/off:
•Switch the scale on with the ON/OFF/ZERO/TARE button
•Wait a few seconds, until the scale displays 0.0 kg (0 lbs)
•Press the HOLD/Settings button until you are in SET mode
•Wait a few seconds until the message A_OFF is displayed on the screen
•Press the HOLD/Settings button until the message BEEP is displayed on the
screen
•Press the ON/OFF/ZERO/TARE button to activate the mode. The menu, in which
you can switch the acoustic signal on or off (ON/OFF) is now displayed on the
screen
•Press the HOLD/Settings button to switch between ON and OFF
•Press the ON/OFF/ZERO/TARE button to confirm your choice. The message
BEEP is displayed on the screen.
•Press the HOLD/Settings button until the message END is displayed on the screen
•Press the ON/OFF/ZERO/TARE button to terminate the setting procedure.
After a few seconds, you will be redirected to the weighing process
Set weigh scale reading
Follow the instructions to change weigh scale reading from kg to lbs:
•Select kg (#4) and change to lbs.
7. Operation
CAUTION
During the weighing process, the aluminium block (A) must
not touch the wall of the support (H) (see image below).

7.1 Weighing a patient
CAUTION
During weighing, the patient must keep still. Any movement of
the scale could produce inaccurate results. Make sure that the
scale is at standstill in horizontal position.
Proceed in the following way to weigh a patient (without tarring):
•Switch the scale on with the ON/OFF/ZERO/TARE button
•Wait a few seconds, until the scale displays 0.0 kg (0 lbs)
•Suspend the sling with the patient to the scale
•Weigh the patient
•Switch the scale off with the ON/OFF/ZERO/TARE button
Please ensure that the sling and the clothes of the patient/resident is subtracted from the
displayed weight to determine the actual body weight.
Proceed in the following way to weigh a patient (with tarring):
•Switch the scale on with the ON/OFF/ZERO/TARE button
•Wait a few seconds, until the scale displays 0.0 kg (0 lbs)

•Suspend the sling (the weight to be tarred) without the patient to the scale
•Weight the sling
•Press the ON/OFF/ZERO/TARE button
•Wait until the scale is automatically set to 0.0 kg (0 lbs)
•Place the patient in the sling
•Weigh the patient
•Switch the scale off with the ON/OFF/ZERO/TARE button
8. Cleaning/Disinfection
8.1 Cleaning the scale
Wipe the scale clean with a damp cloth. Use a normal cleaner in the event of heavier
soiling. Never use abrasive or corrosive cleaners.
NOTE
Make sure that the system is not in operation during cleaning.
9. Waste disposal
9.1 Disposal of the packaging material
Please recycle the packaging materials of the product in accordance with the locally
applicable regulations and laws.
9.2 Disposal of the product
At the end of the product’s lifetime, contact your BEKA dealer, who will recycle the scale
in accordance with the locally applicable regulations and laws.
For an environmentally-sound disposal, BEKA Hospitec GmbH can provide more
information.
Please clean and disinfect the scale prior to its disposal as well.

10.1 Possible error message on the screen

Your batteries are almost depleted. Replace the
batteries as soon as possible.
Maximum load exceeded
You have exceeded the maximum load. Reduce
the weight.
Minimum load not reached
The minimum load is not reached. Increase the
weight.
Maximum load exceeded/Counting error
The maximum load is exceeded. Reduce the
weight. If the error still persists, please contact the
after-sales service.
Minimum load not reached/Counting error
The minimum load is not reached. Increase the
weight. If the error still persists, please contact the
after-sales service.
EEPROM error
The scale’s programme is incorrect. Please
contact the after-sales service.
When your scale does not function properly and you cannot resolve the errors by using
Troubleshooting . Please contact the after-sales service of your dealer (chapter 1.3).

11. Assembly/Disassembly
11.1 Replacing the Batteries
To operate the scale, 6 AAA-batteries are required.
To replace the batteries:
1. Remove the cover of the battery
compartment
2. Remove the battery enclosure
3. Replace the old/used batteries
with 6 new ones.
4. Put the enclosure back
5. Re-install the cover on the battery
compartment
