1.1.3 Purpose of the manual
CAUTION
This document has been prepared in accordance with the regulations in force at the time of
publication.
The purpose of this manual is to provide the Customer with all the information necessary to be able to use and
operate the machine properly, safely and independently.
The manual contains information regarding safety, technical aspects and the operation, maintenance and transport
of the ME550machine.
This document is divided into sections following the natural evolution of the life of the machine, starting from transport
and ending with dismantling / disposal.
CAUTION
Read this manual carefully and meticulously follow the instructions contained in it before using,
inspecting or carrying out any type of operation on the machine.
Proper use and correct maintenance enable the machine to operate correctly and provide lasting performance.
In case of doubt or if you require further information, please contact the nearest technical support centre or contact
MF Group srl - CIM division after-sales service directly.
1.1.4 Keeping the manual
The manual should be kept carefully and close to the machine, in an accessible place that is known to all operators,
protected from liquids and other substances that could aect its legibility, and should be readily accessible at any
times.
The manual and Declaration of conformity are integral parts of the machine and therefore must accompany it for
its entire service life.
No part of this document must be removed, torn or arbitrarily modied.
If the manual is lost or becomes illegible, please request a copy from MF Group srl - CIM division.

machine was put on the market.
In order to constantly improve its products and/or for commercial reasons, the Manufacturer reserves the right to
make changes to the machines for technical or commercial reasons, at any time and without prior notice and without
legitimizing the Purchaser to terminate the contract.
In the event that it becomes necessary to integrate, modify and/or update the contents of this manual due to
modications to a machine installed at the Customer's premises, the Manufacturer will provide the updated and
revised sections.
The user is responsible for replacing all their copies with those containing the new revision following the instructions
received together with the updated documents.

1.2 Symbols used on the machine
Symbols have been applied to the machine, with the purpose of quickly and easily drawing attention to things or
situations that may give rise to specic hazards, and in particular, to:
• Prohibit dangerous conduct
• Warn exposed persons of a danger or hazard
• Indicate safe conduct to be adopted

1.4 Disclaimer
The Manufacturer is responsible for the machine in its initial conguration.
The use of non-original spare parts, modications to the machine, the installation of any accessories that are not
provided or authorised and carrying out maintenance in a manner that does not comply with the instructions in this
manual will relieve the Manufacturer of any liability for personal injury or damage to property.
The Customer is responsible for providing a suitable and well-functioning work environment in which the machine
is to be installed and for employing competent personnel.
Acceptance of the machine expressly commits the Customer to keep it unchanged and not to remove, move or
make its protective devices, guards and safety devices, partially or completely ineective.
Any defect must be reported to the Manufacturer.

1.6 Spare parts
In order to avoid changes being made to the technical features of the machine, it is recommended that you use
original spare parts.
Otherwise, the manufacturer declines any responsibility for damage to the machine, property and/or injuries.

It is recommended that you use original spare parts and accessories.
In addition to reducing the service life and performance of the machine, the use of non-original
parts and accessories, will also invalidate the guarantee.

1.7 Warranty
CAUTION
The commercial warranty issued by the seller is valid for 12 months.
• The warranty is subject to the Manufacturer receiving the duly completed warranty Certicate, especially
regarding the information referring to the machine model and the serial number.
• The Warranty entitles you to the replacement of mechanical components free of charge if they are found to be
faulty after inspection by the Manufacturer. Transport costs for delivery / redelivery will be borne by the Customer.
• The warranty does not cover parts subject to normal wear or electrical components.
• Repairs carried out under Warranty will not cause the warranty to be extend or renewed.
The warranty is valid subject to the following conditions:
1) the installation and start-up must be carried out by the Technical Assistance Service of the dealer authorised
by the Manufacturer.
2) the machine must be used in conformity with the instructions contained in this manual.
The Warranty shall cease to be valid in the case of:
• failure to comply with points 1and 2
• improper use of the machine
• the total or partial failure to comply with the instructions provided
• damage to the machine due to external factors (falls, impacts, etc.)
• tampering with the machine by unauthorized personnel.
• installation of non-original spare parts on the machine.

international standards and in particular that:
The ME550 complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules, subchapters A and B - sections

1.10 Denition of operator
The “Machinery Directive" (2006/42/EC and subsequent amendments) denes the term "OPERATOR” as “...the
person or persons installing, operating, adjusting, maintaining, cleaning, repairing or moving machinery”.
Depending on the task (transport, lifting, operation, maintenance, etc.), the operator must have a minimum level of
competence (qualication) in order to perform the required task safely.
The following table indicates the qualications of operators and the corresponding tasks:

2.1 Machine description
ME550 is an automatic embossing and stamping machine for metal tags used for the identication of industrial
products. After the machine has been switched o, a small buer battery provides sucient power to save all the
information in the memory and make it available for subsequent use.
ME550 is controlled by a personal computer (not supplied), connected via the USB port, which contains the dedicated
CIM “PowerTag” software.
The system can also work in oine mode (STAND-ALONE), i.e. without the "PowerTag" software, by using just the
LCD touch screen on the machine and a USB keyboard.

Any other use of the machine is not permitted.

2.2 Intended use
The ME550 machine referred to in this document, has been designed for the customisation of metal tags by embossing.
The machine is designed to be placed on a stable surface in order to remain stationary during use.
The machine is made up of numerous synchronized handling and machining units that produce customised metal tags.
The specications and values that establish the limits for operator safety and the operational eciency of the machine
are indicated in the technical data section and in the attached drawings.
During its normal and reasonably foreseeable use, the machine should only be used:
• for the use indicated in the technical specication regarding normal operation (list price data and contractual
specications) described in this manual
• with the intended tags, which are listed in the technical specication.
WARNING
The use and maintenance of the machine is restricted to operators whose skills can be identied
in section 1.
The machine must be used exclusively in workplaces that comply with the environmental characteristics
indicated in the technical data section. It is also required that the machine will be used with all the xed
guards properly installed, the movable guards closed and all safety devices working correctly.
The machine is intended exclusively for professional users and not for consumers.
2.2.1 Improper use
Improper use means the incorrect use of the machine, which, although resulting in potential accidents, may cause
serious damage to the machine itself.
Modifying or adjusting the machine in order to obtain a performance that is higher or dierent to that provided by the
manufacturer is considered IMPROPER USE. The manufacturer therefore declines all liability for injury to persons
or damage to property and the machine warranty shall be deemed invalidated.

Any other use of the machine not described in this manual or not previously authorized by MF
Group srl - CIM division exempts the manufacturer from any liability

2.2.2 Misuse
Misuse means the prohibited use of the machine (for which the machine was not designed) that may result in
hazardous situations and potential injury.
With reference to article 3.23 of standard EN ISO 12100:2010, the reasonably foreseeable misuses taken into
account and for which measures have been adopted during the design stage or for which conduct prohibitions have
been provided include:

WARNING
Prohibited uses are explained in this use and maintenance manual and are indicated on the
machine by specic signs.
The machine must NOT be misused and specically:
• It must NOT be operated if the movable and xed guards are open, not securely fastened or missing
• It must NOT be operated if the micro switches and safety interlocks are disabled and, in general, if any safety
and/or protection device (mechanical, electrical) is disabled and/or not working.
• It must NOT be operated without the user having taken all the steps to eliminate the residual risks associated
with the units, as mentioned in the individual descriptive sheets.
