As part of the SAN-OS 3.3(4a) image updates provided by HP, the Cisco MDS 9000 Family
Release Notes for SAN-OS 3.3(4a) have been included in the bundle. Also as part of the
FabricWare 2.1(3) image updates provided by HP, the Cisco MDS 9020 Fabric Switch Release
Notes for Cisco MDS 9020 FabricWare Release 2.1(3) have been included. For a complete list
and detailed description of features included in the SAN-OS 3.3(4a) release or the FabricWare
2.1(3) release, refer to the Cisco release notes as appropriate. For information about NX-OS and

SOFTWARE, FABRICWARE, AND SAN-OS UPDATES
Customers can now receive updates faster and more efficiently via electronic download by using
HP Software Update Manager (SUM). This is a feature available as part of the support
agreement available online within the HP IT Resource Center (ITRC) at http://www.itrc.hp.com/.
SUM provides online access to view support entitlements, manage release notification profiles,
and download available new software updates as they are available.
Customers with a software support agreement can:
1. Register with the ITRC at http://www.itrc.hp.com to obtain an ITRC User ID. This
step is performed once per user.
2. Link support agreements to an ITRC User ID at
http://www.itrc.hp.com/service/entitlements/linkSupportAgreement.do
The System Handle(s) or SAID (Service Agreement Identifier), as identified in
support agreements is required. This step is performed once per support
agreement.
3. Navigate to “software update manager” at
http://www.itrc.hp.com/service/sum/home.do to manage the software updates for
the support agreements linked to your ITRC user ID.
Although software, FabricWare, and SAN-OS images will continue to be located on
http://www.hp.com for a limited period of time, HP SUM will be the preferred method for
obtaining updates, and will eventually be the only method.
Consult the appropriate Cisco MDS release notes for instructions on how to determine the current
SAN-OS or FabricWare version on your switch.
HP strongly recommends upgrading all fabric switches to the latest supported SAN-OS and
FabricWare versions. All switches in the SAN must be running the same version of SAN-OS in

order to maintain a consistent version throughout the SAN. For new SAN-OS and FabricWare
features, switch limitations, and caveats, refer to the Cisco MDS 9000 Family Release Notes and
Cisco MDS 9020 Fabric Switch Release Notes.
Fabric Manager is no longer embedded in the SAN-OS software. Fabric Manager is available
from a CD-ROM that ships with the switch, provided by HP in the SAN-OS image bundle, or by
requesting a CD through HP SUM. Fabric Manager Update Installer is provided in the HP SAN-
OS image bungle.
FICON SUPPORT
FICON is supported with SAN-OS on the MDS 9000 series switches. For supported versions and
configurations refer to the SPOCK website at http://www.hp.com/storage/spock. You must sign
up for an HP Passport to be granted access.

All C-series switches can be managed with the command-line interface (CLI) or Simple Network
Management Protocol (SNMP). The graphical user interfaces (GUI) used to manage all C-series
switches is Cisco Fabric Manager and Cisco Device Manager.

ADDITIONAL MOUNTING REQUIREMENTS
C-series Fabric Switches can be installed in all HP standard racks. Please note the following
restrictions:
Side-Rail Rack-Mounted Options
All side-rail rack-mounted options must have a minimum of four (4) inch clearance distance
above or below the switch chassis for the C-series MDS 9500 Series Multilayer Directors and
MDS 9200 Series Multilayer Fabric Switches. Side-rail rack-mount options include HP zero-U
options, KVM switches and power distribution units (PDUs). The minimum distance between the
top of the switch to the bottom of any side rail rack mounted option, or the bottom of the switch
and the top of the side rail rack mounted option must be at least four (4) inches.
HP Rack Cabinet Support
For standard HP Rack Cabinets with closed side panels, you must have at least two-and-one-half
inches (2.5 in.) (6.4 cm) of air space between the rack walls and the MDS 9200 and 950xchassis
air vents. For the MDS 9513, you must have at least four inches (4.0 in.) (10.16 cm) of air flow
between the rack walls and the director. If the air space does not meet these minimum
requirements, remove the rack side panels.
The HP 10842 (800mm wide, 42U) Rack Cabinet is ideally used as a networking rack
accommodating primarily switching equipment. It can also be used as a server/switch rack. The
10842 rack is a wider version of the 42U 9000 series rack at 800 mm/31.3 in width. This added
width provides approximately eight additional inches of room outside of the internal mounting
rails, which can be used for cabling.
Other Types of Cabinets
When the C-series MDS 9500 Family Multilayer Directors and MDS 9200 Family Multilayer
Fabric Switches are installed in racks other than those mentioned above, including any open sided
racks, the following guidelines must be followed to prevent overheating:
Closed-sided racks must have at least two-and-one-half inches (2.5 in.) (6.4 cm) of air
space between the walls and the 9200 and 950xchassis air vents. The MDS 9513 must
have at least four inches (4.0 in.) (10.16 cm) of air flow between the rack walls and the
director.
Open-sided racks (for example, racks commonly used for telecommunications
equipment), with switches installed side by side must have at least six inches (6 in.) (15.2
cm) of air space between two different switch chassis
All rack types must have nothing to obstruct the cooling vents with side mounted options
Cabling
When cabling any C-series product, the front door on all HP standard racks should be removed to
allow for adequate cable space; this will ensure a safe bending radius on all fibre channel cables.
This is especially pertinent in high port density (Director) installations. Please consult the
relevant Cisco Hardware Installation Guide for further information.

SERIAL PORT
You must use the serial interface to configure a switch IP address. Refer to the Cisco MDS 9000
Family Configuration Guide or Cisco MDS 9020 Fabric Switch Configuration Guide for
instructions on how to connect the serial port to a host machine.
INITIAL INSTALLATION RECOMMENDATIONS /
REQUIREMENTS
The C-series MDS 9000 Family of switches does not automatically allow SAN connectivity for
the first-time, out-of-the box power up. For more comprehensive initial setup information,
please refer to the Cisco documentation found at http://www.cisco.com.
Note: The setup dialog prompts for all of the necessary settings.
The following steps must be taken during the first-time setup:
I. To enable all ports on the switch, set the ports to noshut – by default, all switch ports are set
to shut
During the setup command:
Configure default switchport interface state (shut/noshut) [shut]: noshut
II. To allow traffic flow to all members of a default zone, set the default zone to permit
connectivity – by default, zoning is set to deny
During the setup command:
Configure default zone policy (permit/deny) [deny]: permit
III. If upgrading from SAN-OS 1.3(4a) or earlier, enable FCID persistence for all VSANs on
the switch – FCID persistence is enabled by default with SAN-OS 2.0(1b) and newer.
Note: FCID persistence is not supported on the MDS 9020.
Enable persistent FCID for each VSAN using the CLI dialog as follows:

switch(config)# fcdomain fcid persistent vsan 1
switch(config)# exit
switch# copy running-config startup-config
In this example, the number 1 at the end of the line is the name of the default VSAN ID. If
additional VSANs were created, you must repeat this command for each additional VSAN.
For example, if you added two more VSANs with ID numbers 2 and 3, you must enter the
following commands:
switch# config terminal
switch(config)# fcdomain fcid persistent vsan 2
switch(config)# fcdomain fcid persistent vsan 3
switch(config)# exit
switch# copy running-config startup-config

IV. Enable In-Order Delivery of Frame
During a steady-state environment, the hardware and software architecture of the C-series
MDS 9000 Family prevents out-of-order (OOO) frame distribution from occurring. If the
fabric encounters a failure, some devices may not be able to handle any OOO frames. For
this reason, HP requires in-order delivery (IOD) be enabled for all switches. There is a
switch setting to enable in-order of frames during fabric failure.
Note: IOD feature is not supported on the MDS 9020.
Using the Management Console or Telnet to Enable IOD
Use the following procedure to enable in-order delivery (IOD) of frames with management
console or telnet:
1. Log into the switch using either the management console or telnet
2. Enter your network-admin privileged account by entering your login name and
password
switch login: admin
Password: <admin password>
3. Enter the following:
switch# show in-order-guarantee
4. The response shows whether or not in-order delivery is enabled
If the display shows inorder delivery: guaranteed, in-order delivery of frames is
enabled and no other steps are required
If the display shows inorder delivery: not guaranteed, in-order delivery of frames is
disabled; continue to the next step
5. Enter into the configuration mode by entering the following command:
switch# config terminal
6. Enter the following command to set in-order delivery of frames:
switch(config)# in-order-guarantee
switch(config)# exit
7. Enter the following command to verify that in-order delivery is enabled:
switch# show in-order-guarantee
You should see the following response for all VSANs:
inorder delivery: guaranteed
8. Copy the running configuration into the startup configuration by entering the
following:
switch# copy running-config startup-config
Note: The running configuration overwrites the startup configuration.
IOD must be enabled for any additional VSANs created.

Refer to the Cisco MDS 9000 Family Fabric Manager Switch Configuration Guide to
enable IOD using Device/Fabric Manager.
FABRIC MANAGER & DEVICE MANAGER GUI SETUP
The optional Cisco Fabric/Device Manager GUI (graphical user interface) is a Java application.
The Fabric/Device Manager installation process is based on requirements for installing Java Web
Start. Refer to the Cisco MDS 9000 Fabric Manager Release Notes for system requirements and
installation instructions.
To install Device Manager, use a web browser to make an http:// connection to the IP address of a
C-series switch.
Note: Device Manager cannot be installed from the MDS 9020.
Starting with SAN-OS 3.2(1a), Fabric Manager is no longer embedded in the SAN-OS software.
Fabric Manager is available from a CD-ROM or provided by HP in the SAN-OS image bundle.
For additional information on how to install Fabric Manager refer to the “Installation of Cisco
MDS SAN-OS and Fabric Manager” section in the Cisco MDS 9000 Family Fabric Manager
Configuration Guide.
Starting with SAN-OS 3.3(1a), Fabric Manager Update Installer is provided by HP in the SAN-
OS image bundle. The installer allows the user to upgrade an existing system running Fabric
Manager Standalone or Fabric Manager Server without requiring the Management Software and
Documentation CD.
The following is an example of how to upgrade Windows Fabric Manager using the Fabric
Manager Update Installer.
1. Copy the Installer jar file to your Fabric Manager system
2. At the command prompt, locate the directory where the jar file is placed
3. Type the following command:
java.exe –Xmx512m –jar <jar file>
4. Follow the onscreen instructions provided in the Fabric Manager upgrade software
setup wizard
Refer to the Cisco MDS 9000 Family Fabric Manager Configuration Guide for additional
installation instructions.
Note: The MDS 9020 currently runs FabricWare 2.1(3); HP recommends using the latest supported
Fabric/Device Manager when managing this switch via the GUI.

CISCO MDS 9000 N-PORT VIRTUALIZATION (NPV) MODE
N-Port Virtualization (NPV) Mode is a software feature that can be optionally enabled on the C-
series MDS 9124 and the MDS 9124e Fabric Switches running SAN-OS 3.2(1a) or newer.
Switches operating in NPV mode do not join a fabric; rather, they pass traffic between NPV core
switch links and end devices.
NPV technology addresses the increase in the number of domain IDs needed to deploy a large
number of ports by making the MDS 9124 and the MDS 9124e behave as a host to the core FC
switch. NPV aggregates multiple locally connected N-ports into one or more external NP link(s),
which share the domain ID of the NPV core switch. NPV also allows multiple devices to attach
to the same port on the NPV core switch, thereby reducing the need for more ports on the core
switch. NPV makes use of N-port ID virtualization (NPIV) to receive multiple FCIDs allocated
from the core switch on the NP port. Refer to the Cisco MDS 9000 Family Configuration Guide
for instructions on how to configure NPV.
In addition to being supported in Cisco fabrics, NPV is supported for connectivity to B-Series and
M-Series fabrics. Refer to the hp StorageWorks Fabric Interoperability: Merging Fabrics Based
on C-series and B-Series Fibre Channel Switches and hp StorageWorks Fabric Interoperability:
Merging Fabric Based on C-series and M-Series Fibre Channel Switches for specific supported
B-Series and M-Series software versions.
CISCO MDS 9000 FLEXATTACH
FlexAttach is supported on the Cisco Fabric Switch for HP c-Class BladeSystem, the Cisco MDS
9124 switch, and the Cisco MDS 9134 switch, when NPV mode is enabled. The FlexAttach
feature reduces the time and coordination effort required by SAN and server administrators when
installing and replacing servers. The use of FlexAttach alleviates the need for re-zoning and LUN
reconfiguration changes when a new server is installed or when an existing server needs
replacement. For information on FlexAttach, refer to the Configuring FlexAttach Virtual pWWN
chapter in the Cisco MDS 9000 Family Configuration Guide.
Administrators can benefit from FlexAttach in the following scenarios:
Pre-configuration—Pre-configure the SAN for the addition of new servers where
physical WWPNs are unknown, using the virtual WWPNs during an existing
maintenance window. Once the servers are available, they can be plugged into the fabric
without requiring any SAN configuration changes.
Replacement (new server)—Replace a server in an existing server port without SAN
configuration changes since FlexAttach assigns a virtual WWPN to the server port.
Replacement (spare) —Bring the spare server online without SAN configuration changes.
This is achieved by moving the virtual WWPN from the current server port to the spare
port.
Server Mobility —Move the server to a different NPV switch (within the same fabric or
VSAN) without SAN configuration changes. FlexAttach allows manual creation and
transfer of virtual WWPNs from one server port to another.

Note: 3rd party software management applications may not detect virtual pWWNs
QLOGIC HBAs AND MEZZANINE CARDS CONNECTED TO NPIV-
BASED FIBRE CHANNEL INTERCONNECTS
When using Qlogic HBAs and/or Qlogic mezzanine cards in the following configurations:
Qlogic HBAs connected to the MDS 9124 in NPV mode
Qlogic HBAs connected to the MDS 9134 in NPV mode
Qlogic mezzanine cards connected to the MDS 9124e in NPV mode
Qlogic mezzanine cards connected to the HP Virtual Connect Fibre Channel Module
Qlogic mezzanine cards connected to Brocade in Access Gateway mode
If any of the above are on the same C-series switch and VSAN as its target, NPIV addresses are
limited to 256. To scale beyond 256 addresses, the following C-series switch commands below
must be executed on the VSAN to which NPIV-based FC interconnects are connected.
Note:
If Qlogic HBAs are connected to the same switch and same VSAN as NPIV-based FC
interconnects and the target for the HBA(s) is also on the same switch and the same VSAN, you
must have the minimum driver versions listed below. This includes all Qlogic HBAs and Qlogic
mezzanine cards connected to the desired VSAN.

HBAs with a Qlogic chipset on the same switch and same VSAN as NPIV-based FC
interconnects are not supported unless the HBA is capable of supporting a common FCID domain
and area as its target. If you are uncertain whether an HBA contains a Qlogic chipset, consult
your storage representative.
Caution:
Implementing the following commands is disruptive and will suspend the VSAN to which NPIV-
based FC interconnects are connected. All devices in the VSAN will momentarily lose
connectivity to the switch. After the VSAN is re-enabled, some devices will acquire a different
FCID. Special consideration must be taken for operating systems and devices requiring persistent
FCIDs.
1. Log into the CLI of the Cisco MDS switch with admin privileges.
2. Execute the following commands for the desired VSAN:

CISCO MDS 9000 STORAGE MEDIA ENCRYPTION (SME)
Overview
The SME solution is a comprehensive network-integrated encryption service with enterprise-class
key management that works transparently with existing and new SANs. The innovative network-
integrated solution has numerous advantages over competitive solutions available today:
SME installation and provisioning are both simple and non-disruptive. Unlike other
solutions, SME does not require rewiring or SAN reconfiguration.
Encryption engines are integrated on the MDS 9000 18/4-port Multiservice Module
(MSM-18/4) and the MDS 9222i Multiservice Fabric Switch, eliminating the need to
purchase and manage extra switch ports, cables, and applications.
Traffic from any virtual SAN (VSAN) can be encrypted using SME, enabling flexible,
automated load balancing through network traffic management across multiple SANs.
No additional software is required for provisioning, key, and user role management; SME
is integrated into Cisco Fabric Manager, therefore reducing operating expenses.
Features
SME is a standards-based encryption solution for heterogeneous tape libraries and virtual tape
libraries. SME is managed with Cisco Fabric Manager Web Client and a command-line interface
(CLI) for unified SAN management and security provisioning. SME includes the following

Hardware Requirements
SME requires at least one MDS 9222i switch or MSM-18/4 module in each cluster. The SME
engines on the required modules provide the transparent encryption and compression services to
the hosts and storage devices. To take full advantage of the standard and advanced security levels,

Software Requirements
All MDS switches in the SME cluster must be running the current release of Fabric Manager and
SAN-OS software. This includes the following:
The Fabric Manager Web Client must be running Fabric Manager 3.2(3) or newer
The MDS switches attached to the tape devices must be running SAN-OS Release 3.2(3)
or newer
All MDS 9222i switches and switches that include MSM-18/4 modules must be running
SAN-OS Release 3.2(3) software or newer

FC AND FCIP WRITE ACCELERATION FEATURE MUST NOT BE
ENABLED WHEN IMPLEMENTING CONTINUOUS ACCESS
ENTERPRISE VIRTUAL ARRAY
Continuous Access Enterprise Virtual Array includes an FC/FCIP write acceleration feature. For
this reason, Cisco’s FC and FCIP write acceleration must not be enabled in a Continuous Access
EVA environment. By default Cisco SAN-OS write acceleration is disabled.
FCIP TAPE ACCELERATION
SAN-OS FCIP Tape Acceleration (Write & Read) is disabled by default. Enabling FCIP Tape
Acceleration may cause a tape library to go offline with certain tape backup applications that
support shared tape library options. If this issue is encountered, disable the feature.
Note: FCIP Tape Read Acceleration can only be enabled when both ends of the FCIP tunnel are
running SAN-OS 3.0(1) or newer
SWITCH SETTINGS FOR HP CONTINUOUS ACCESS
ENTERPRISE VIRTUAL ARRAYS AND HP DATA REPLICATION
MANAGER FOR MODULAR ARRAYS
The default load balancing policy for SAN-OS is Src-ID/Dst-ID/OX-ID. This must be changed
when using Enterprise Virtual Array families or Modular Array families configured for
Continuous Access EVA and/or Data Replication Manager (DRM). Change the default load
balance setting to Src-ID/Dst-ID using either one of the following two procedures:
Note: The MDS 9020 only supports Src-ID/Dst-ID.
Using the Management Console or Telnet to Change the Load Balancing Setting
Use the following procedure to change the load balance setting to Src-ID/Dst-ID with
management console or telnet:
Note: Your login account must have network-admin privileges to complete this procedure.
1. Log into the switch using either the management console or telnet.
2. Enter your network-admin privileged account by entering your login name and password.
switch login: admin
Password: <admin password>
3. Enter the following to enter configuration mode:

6. Verify that src-dst-id is enabled for the desired VSAN by entering the following

src-dst-id using Device/Fabric Manager.
Note: The running configuration overwrites the startup configuration.
C-SERIES MDS 9020 FABRIC MANAGEMENT
The C-series MDS 9020 can be managed through the CLI or the Cisco MDS 9000 Family
Fabric/Device Manager tool using Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). FabricWare
2.1(3) supports SNMP v1 and SNMP v2. When using Fabric/Device Manager with SNMP v3
enabled, all C-series MDS 9020 configurations must be saved using either the CLI or Device
Manager. In an environment where there is a co-existence of switches running SAN-OS and
FabricWare, Fabric Manager will only save SAN-OS configurations. To save MDS 9020 switch
configurations, the CLI or Device Manager must be used in order to avoid possible inconsistency
or fabric segmentation.
Note: WWPN (FLOGI) information can not be obtained for the MDS 9020 using Device Manager.
CHANGING PORT SPEED ON THE C-SERIES MDS 9020
If required, use the following CLI procedure to change the port speed setting on the C-series
MDS 9020:

C-SERIES MDS 9134 FABRIC SWITCH
The MDS 9134 switch has a base 34-port chassis to accommodate up to 32 full rate 4-Gbps and 2
10-Gbps fibre channel ports. Four configurations are available:
24 4-Gbps active ports with optional 8-port 4-Gbps and 2-port 10-Gbps software
expansion licenses
32 4-Gbps active ports with an optional 2-port 10-Gbps software expansion license
24 4-Gbps and 2 10-Gbps active ports; a 48-port stackable solution is available with the
purchase of two of these products.
32 4-Gbps and 2 10-Gbps active ports; a 64-port stable solution is available with the
purchase of two of these products.

C-SERIES MDS 9124 FABRIC SWITCH
The MDS 9124 switches have fixed configurations with 8, 16, and 24 full rate 4-Gbps fibre
channel ports. The 8 and 16 port switches can be upgraded in 8 port increments with a software
expansion license.
C-SERIES MDS 9124e FABRIC SWITCH FOR HP C-CLASS
BLADESYSTEM
The MDS 9124e 12-port fabric switch and the MDS 9124e 24-port fabric switch for HP c-Class
BladeSystem have fixed configurations with 8-internal/4-external or 16-internal/8-external full
rate 4-Gbps fibre channel ports. The 12-port switch can be upgraded to the 24-port switch with a
software expansion license.

and mezzanine adaptors
How to acquire a port license on the MDS 9124e
1. Log into the switch using either the management console or telnet

UPGRADE FROM 2Gb FIBRE CHANNEL SWITCHING MODULES
TO 4Gb FIBRE CHANNEL SWITCHING MODULES
C-series MDS 2Gb switch modules in 16-port and 32-port configurations and the 14/2
Multiprotocol Services module have approached their end of life and will no longer be sold.
Customers wishing to upgrade to 4Gb technology to replace the older 2Gb modules can purchase
4Gb modules in a 12, 24, or 48-port configurations to replace the 2Gb 16 or 32-port modules.
Additionally, the 14/2 Multiprotocol Services module can be replaced by the 18/4 Multiservice
module. There are a few necessary steps to complete this replacement successfully:
Transfer of configuration and VSAN layout from the old switch module to the new
switch module.
Transfer of configuration of IPS ports from the old 14/2 Multiprotocol Services module
to the new 18/4 Multiservice module.
Notes:
Minimum SAN-OS version 3.0(1) required on switch necessary for 4Gb modules.
Minimum SAN-OS version 3.2(1a) required on switch necessary for 18/4 Multiservice
module.
Upgrade of 2Gb 16 and 32-port modules to 4Gb 12, 24, and 48-port modules:
The replacement of the 2Gb 16 and 32-port modules with the 4Gb 12, 24, and 48-port modules
must be treated as an upgrade from one module to another. Please refer to the Cisco MDS 9000
CLI Configuration Guide for procedures to configure the new modules.
The following is a procedure to outline the required steps to complete the replacement/upgrade
successfully:
1. Save and backup the running configuration of the 2Gb module.
switch# copy running start
2. Carefully record VSAN layout and corresponding fibre channel connections to the
module, as they need to be configured manually on the replacement module.
switch# show vsan membership
3. Remove fibre channel cables and remove the 2Gb module.
4. Insert the replacement 4Gb module.
5. Ensure that the module is properly recognized by the switch.
switch# show module <module number>
6. Configure appropriate VSANs on the new switch module.
7. Connect the fibre channel cables to the appropriate ports on the new module.
8. Ensure proper connectivity using Cisco management tools.
9. Configure the new module as you would when adding any new module to your switch.

UPGRADE FROM 14/2 MULTIPROTOCOL SERVICES MODULE
TO 18/4 MULTISERVICE MODULE
The replacement of the 14/2 Multiprotocol Services module with the 18/4 Multiservice module
must be treated as an upgrade. Considerations must be taken to ensure that the configuration can
be implemented on the new module. Please refer to the Cisco MDS 9000 CLI Configuration
Guide for procedures to configure the new modules.
Note: When purchasing an 18/4 Multiservice module as a replacement for a 14/2 Multiprotocol
Services module, a new set of licenses must be obtained to use the 4 IPS ports for FCIP
connectivity. Transfer of FCIP licenses from a 14/2 module to an 18/4 module is not supported.
iSCSI connectivity on the IPS ports is supported without the need for additional licenses.
Please note that the 18/4 Multiservice module is not supported in the MDS 9216i and the MDS
9216A switches.
The following is a procedure to outline the required steps to complete the replacement/upgrade
successfully:
1. Save and backup the current running configuration of the 14/2 Multiprotocol Services
module.
switch# copy running start
2. Carefully record the VSAN layout currently employed on the 14/2 Multiprotocol
Services module, as the VSANs will need to be manually configured on the new switch
module.
switch# show vsan membership
3. Carefully record the configuration of the two IPS ports including IP addresses and IP
settings.
Note: All iSCSI sessions and FCIP links must be reestablished on the new module.
switch# show interface gigabitethernet 1/<port number>
4. Remove the old module and replace with the new module.
5. Ensure that the module is properly recognized by the switch.
switch# show module <module number>
6. Install the appropriate licenses for the IPS ports.
switch# install license bootflash:<license filename>
7. Configure appropriate VSANs on the new switch module.
8. Configure the IPS ports on the 18/4 Multiservice module including IP addresses and IP
settings noted from old module.
9. Connect the fibre channel cables to the appropriate ports on the new module.
10. Connect appropriate cabling to IPS ports on the 18/4 Multiservice module.
11. Ensure proper connectivity using Cisco management tools.
12. Configure the new module as you would when adding any new module to your switch.
