• Montage, erste Inbetriebnahme und Wartung des
Gerätes dürfen nur durch einen Fachmann nach
Montageanweisung erfolgen, der dabei für die
Beachtung der bestehenden Normen und
Installationsvorschriften voll verantwortlich ist.
• Gerät nur benutzen, nachdem es korrekt installiert
wurde und sich technisch in einwandfreiem Zustand
befindet!
• Gerät nur in einem frostfreien Raum installieren!
Das Gerät darf niemals Frost ausgesetzt werden.
• Elektrischen Anschluss des Gerätes erst dann vor-
nehmen, wenn das Gerät vollständig mit Wasser
gefüllt ist.
• Keine technischen Änderungen am Gerät oder an den
Elektro- und Wasserleitungen vornehmen!
• Nie Gerät öffnen, ohne vorher die Stromzufuhr
dauerhaft zu unterbrechen!
• Achtung, nach längerer Durchlaufzeit von heißem
Wasser können auch die Armaturen heiß werden!
• Das Gerät ist nur für die Erwärmung von Trink-
wasser zugelassen. Der auf dem Typenschild angege-
bene minimale spezifische Wasserwiderstand darf
nicht unterschritten werden. Jeder darüber hinaus
gehende Gebrauch ist nicht zulässig.
• Die Wassereinlauftemperatur darf nicht größer
als 60 °C werden. Bei dem MDX 6-220 darf die
Wassereinlauftemperatur nicht größer max. 30 °C
werden.
• Das Gerät muss geerdet werden!

• Incoming water temperature must not exceed 60 °C.
For MDX 6-220, the incoming water temperature
must not exceed 30 °C.
• The appliance must be earthed at all times!

Verwendung und Gebrauch Intended use, operation
Dieser Klein-Durchlauferhitzer (Abb.9) ist zur sparsa-
men Warmwasserversorgung eines Handwaschbeckens
bestimmt und wird zusammen mit einer Sanitärarmatur
installiert. Durch Öffnen des Warmwasserventiles der
Armatur schaltet der Durchlauferhitzer bei Überschrei-
ten der Einschaltwassermenge automatisch ein und
erwärmt das Wasser während es durch das Gerät
strömt.
Das Gerät ist werksseitig auf die zum Händewaschen
ideale Auslauftemperatur von ca. 38 °C voreingestellt.
Wenn diese Temperatur erreicht wird, reduziert die
Elektronik die Leistung automatisch, um die Auslauf-
temperatur nicht zu überschreiten. Aufgrund dieser
zum Händewaschen bedarfsgerechten Temperatur-
regelung wird im täglichen Gebrauch nur das Warm-
wasserventil der Armatur geöffnet. Falls die maximal
mögliche Auslauftemperatur nicht erreicht wird, ist
der Durchfluss an der Armatur zu reduzieren. Für eine
niedrigere Auslauftemperatur kann kaltes Wasser
zugemischt werden.
Bei zu geringer Durchflussmenge, zu niedrigem
Fließdruck oder beim Schließen des Warmwasser-
ventiles der Armatur, schaltet das Gerät automatisch
ab. Für eine optimale Wasserdarbietung ist unbedingt
der in der Verpackung mitgelieferte Spezial-Strahlregler
zu verwenden. Dieser wird an den Auslauf der Armatur
geschraubt. Falls das Gewinde der verchromten
Metallhülse nicht passt, kann der Strahlreglereinsatz
auch in jede Standardhülse M22/24 eingesetzt werden.
Die maximal mögliche Auslauftemperatur ist bestimmt
durch die Zulauftemperatur, die Wassermenge und die
Leistung des Durchlauferhitzers (siehe Grafik).
Die Voreinstellung der Durchflussmenge sowie die
maximale Auslauftemperatur kann zwischen ca. 30°C
und 50°C im Gerät verändert werden.
This small instantaneous water heater is intended for
the economical heating of water for a wash basin and
is installed together with a sanitary water fitting. When
the hot-water valve is opened, the heater switches
itself on automatically when the minimum water flow
rate is exceeded and heats the water as it passes
through the appliance.
The heater is set in the factory to an outlet temperatu-
re of about 38 °C*, which is ideal for washing your
hands. When this temperature is reached, the electronic
regulator reduces the power in order to ensure that the
outlet temperature does not exceed this value. Thanks
to this automatic temperature regulation, you only
need to open the warm-water valve of the fitting in
order to wash your hands. If the maximum possible
outlet temperature is not reached, slightly reduce the
flow of water. If you desire a lower temperature, you
can add cold water.
If the flows rate is too low, if the flow pressure is too
low, or if the warm-water valve is closed, the appliance
switches itself off automatically. For an optimum flow
of water, always fit the special jet regulator enclosed
with the appliance. This regulator is screwed into the
thread on the end of the tap. If the thread of the chro-
me-plated sleeve does not fit your tap, you can insert it
into any standard sleeve M22/24.
The maximum possible outlet temperature is determi-
ned by the temperature of the incoming water, the rate
of flow and the heating power of the heater (see the
diagram). The flow rate can be preset inside the appli-
ance to achieve an outlet temperature between about
30 °C and 50 °C.

Montagehinweise The following must be observed
Montage- und Wasseranschluss Installing the appliance
The heater is installed as shown in the immediate vici-
nity of the outlet in a frost-free room. We guarantee
trouble-free operation only if CLAGE fittings and acces-
sories are used. Note the following during installation:
• Observe the statutory regulations of the respective
country, as well as those of the local electricity and
water supply companies.
• Check technical data and the information on the
rating plate.
• Ensure that all accessories are removed from the
packing materials.
• Easy access to the appliance shall be guaranteed
at all times. An external shut-off valve has to be
installed.
• Thoroughly rinse the water pipes before connection.
• Optimum operation is ensured at a water flow pres-
sure of 0.2 to 0.4 MPa (2-4 bar), avoiding pressures
exceeding 1 MPa (10 bar).
Die Montage erfolgt direkt an die Anschlussrohre der
Sanitärarmatur in einem frostfreien Raum. Wir garan-
tieren einwandfreie Funktion nur bei Verwendung von
CLAGE Armaturen und Zubehör. Bei der Installation
beachten:
• DIN VDE 0100 und DIN 1988 sowie die gesetzlichen
Vorschriften des jeweiligen Landes und die
Bestimmungen des örtlichen Elektrizitäts- und
Wasserversorgungsunternehmens
• Technische Daten und Angaben auf dem Typenschild
• Keine Zubehörteile in der Verpackung zurücklassen
• Für Wartungszwecke muss der Durchlauferhitzer
leicht zugänglich sein. Ein separates Absperrventil
muss installiert sein.
• Vor Anschluss Wasserleitungen gut durchspülen
• Ein optimaler Betrieb ist bei einem Fließwasserdruck
zwischen 0.2-0.4 MPa (2-4 bar) gewährleistet.
Der Netzdruck darf 1 MPa (10 bar) nicht überschrei-
ten.
• Wandhalter mit Schrauben dübeln
(siehe Abbildung 1).
• Gerät auf den Wandhalter stecken
und einrasten (siehe Abbildung 2).
• Secure the wall bracket to the wall with screws and
suitable wall plugs (see fig 1).
• Place the appliance on the wall bracket
and snap it into position (see fig. 2).

• Das Gerät unter einem Waschbecken so installieren,
dass die Wasseranschlüsse senkrecht nach oben ste-
hen und direkt an die Anschlüsse der Sanitärarmatur
angeschlossen werden können.
• Wasserzulauf (blau) und -auslauf (rot) sind durch
Farbmarkierungen auf dem Typenschild gekennzeich-
net. Die Kennzeichnungen der Armaturen müssen
entsprechend zugeordnet werden.
Die Montage muss so erfolgen, dass die angeschlos-
senen Wasserleitungen keine mechanische Kraft auf
das Gerät ausüben.
• Nach Installation alle Verbindungen auf Dichtheit
prüfen. Um einen optimalen Wasserstrahl bei sparsa-
mer Durchflussmenge zu erhalten, unbedingt beige-
fügten Strahlregler an den Auslauf der Armatur
schrauben. Der Einsatz passt in handelsübliche
Hülsen mit M22 und M24 Gewinde.
• The appliance is good for undersink and oversink
installation according to the examples of installation
below of this page. For undersink installation the
water connectors must point vertically upwards.
• Pipe connection (see fig. 3):
Cold water inlet (blue) and hot water outlet (red)
are marked on the rating plate. Connect the marked
tap pipes to the water inlet/outlet accordingly.
Avoid any kind of mechanical pressure exerted on
the appliance, e.g. by water pipes etc.
• After installation, check all connections for leaks.
In order to obtain an optimum water jet at low flow
rates, always screw the enclosed jet regulator onto
the tap outlet. This insert fits commercially available
sleeves with an M22 or M24 thread.

Fill the appliance completely with water by repea-
tedly opening and closing the tap before connec-
ting to electrical power. The heating element may
be damaged if this is not done!
• The installation must comply with current IEC regula-
tions or national local regulations or any particular
regulations, specified by the local electricity supply
company!
• The mains cable must be permanently connected via
connecting box as shown in the circuit diagram. The
earth conductor must be connected.
• A circuit breaker in accordance with IEC with a con-
tact opening gap of at least 3 mm for each pole must
be provided on the mains side of the connecting box.
• The wiring cross-section must be well adapted to the
corresponding power rating. See technical data.
• To protect the appliance, a fuse element must be fitted
with a tripping current commensurate with the nomi-
nal current of the appliance.
Vor dem elektrischen Anschluss das Gerät durch
mehrfaches Öffnen und Schließen des
Warmwasserventiles der Armatur mit Wasser
füllen und vollständig entlüften. Sonst ist ein
Schaden am Heizelement möglich!
• Vor dem elektrischen Anschluss die Zuleitung zum
Gerät spannungsfrei schalten.
• Die Netzanschlussleitung muss über eine
Geräteanschlussdose nach Schaltplan fest
angeschlossen werden.
Der Schutzleiter muss angeschlossen werden.
• Installationsseitig ist eine allpolige Trennung
nach VDE 0700 mit einer Kontaktöffnungsweite
von ≥ 3 mm pro Pol vorzusehen.
• Der Querschnitt der Zuleitung muss der Leistung
entsprechend dimensioniert sein. Siehe technische
Daten.
• Zur Absicherung des Gerätes ist ein Sicherungs-
element für Leitungsschutz mit einem dem
Gerätenennstrom angepassten Auslösestrom zu
montieren.

Einstellung der Wassermenge & Temperatur Adjusting the water flow & temperature
The maximum outlet temperature can be set between
about 30 °C and 50 °C with the potentiometer
(Fig. 7), adjustment only by a professional. The
factory setting is about 38 °C (MDX6-220 – 45 °C).
Turning the potentiometer clockwise reduces the
max. outlet temperature; turning it counter-clockwise
increases the temperature.
During use, the red LED on the printed circuit board
lights if the maximum power of the heater cannot
achieve the preset outlet temperature.
In this case, the flow rate must be reduced.
The flow rate can be adjusted with the adjusting
screw (Fig. 8) by a professional. Turning this screw
clockwise reduces the flow rate; turning it counter-
clockwise increases the flow rate.
Careful! Don’t turn the adjustment screw further
than the indent mark in order to avoid water
leakage.
Do not switch on the electric power at this time!
1. Open the hot-water tap and allow water to flow
until it emerges free of air bubbles.
2. Now close the circuit breaker. Hot water is
delivered.
3. If desired, set the desired outlet temperature inside
the appliance (see Fig. 7).
4. Explain the functions of the heater to the user and
ensure that he knows how to use it.
Hand over these operating instructions to the user.
Noch keinen Strom einschalten!
1. Warmwasserhahn der Armatur öffnen bis
Wasser blasenfrei heraus strömt.
2. Erst jetzt Sicherung einschalten.
Es fließt warmes Wasser.
3. Bei Bedarf die gewünschte Auslauftemperatur
im Gerät einstellen. (Siehe Abb. 7)
4. Dem Benutzer die Funktion des Gerätes erklä-
ren und mit dem Gebrauch vertraut machen.
Diese Anleitung dem Benutzer zur
Aufbewahrung überreichen.
Inbetriebnahme Putting into service
Mit dem Poti (Abb. 7) kann die maximale Auslauf-
temperatur zwischen ca. 30 °C und ca. 50 °C durch
einen Fachmann eingestellt werden. Die Werksein-
stellung beträgt ca. 38°C (beim MDX6-220 – 45°C).
Durch Drehen im Uhrzeigersinn reduziert sich die maxi-
male Auslauftemperatur, gegen den Uhrzeigersinn
erhöht sie sich. Im Betrieb leuchtet die rote LED auf der
Platine, wenn wegen der Leistungsgrenze des
Durchlauferhitzers die voreingestellte Auslauf-
temperatur nicht erreicht werden kann. In diesem Fall
muss die Durchflussmenge reduziert werden.
Die Voreinstellung der Durchflussmenge kann durch
einen Fachmann an der Justierschraube (Abb. 8)
eingestellt werden. Durch Drehen der Justierschraube
im Uhrzeigersinn reduziert sich die Durchflussmenge,
gegen den Uhrzeigersinn erhöht sie sich.
Achtung! Die Justierschraube nicht über die umlaufen-
de Kerbe hinaus herausdrehen, da es sonst zum
Wasseraustritt kommen kann.

• Clean the heater and the taps only by wiping
with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners
or solvents.
• Clean the jet regulator or the hand-shower regularly
and replace as necessary.
• Dirt and scale deposited in the pipes and heater will
affect the function of the heater. Typical indications
of this are a reduced rate of flow or noisy flow.
In such cases, have the heater inspected by a
technician and, if necessary, have the filter in the
cold-water inlet cleaned.
To prevent damage to the appliance, the instantaneous
water heater must be purged for air before using it for the
first time. Each time it is emptied (e.g. after work on the
plumbing system, if there is a risk of frost or following
repair work), the appliance must be purged for air before
it is used again.
1Disconnect appliance from the mains by disactivating
the fuses.
2Next, open and close the hot water tap valve several
times until no more air emerges from the pipe and all
air has been eliminated from the water heater.
3Only then you should reconnect the power supply to
the unit.

• Strahlregler regelmäßig säubern und erneuern.
• Verschmutzungen und Verkalkung der Wasserwege
beeinflussen die Funktion. Anzeichen sind z.B. gerin-
gerer Durchfluss oder Rauschgeräusche. Lassen Sie
in diesem Fall das Gerät vom Fachmann prüfen und
ggf. das Filtersieb im Wasserzulauf reinigen.
Um eine Beschädigung des Heizelementes zu
vermeiden, muss das Gerät vor der ersten
Inbetriebnahme entlüftet werden.
Nach jeder Entleerung (z.B. nach Arbeiten in der
Wasserinstallation, wegen Frostgefahr oder nach
Reparaturen am Gerät) muss das Gerät vor der
Wiederinbetriebnahme erneut entlüftet werden.
1Stromzufuhr durch Sicherungen abschalten.
2Danach das zugehörige Warmwasserzapfventil
mehrfach öffnen und schließen, bis keine Luft mehr
aus der Leitung austritt und der Durchlauferhitzer
luftfrei ist.
3Erst dann Stromzufuhr zum Durchlauferhitzer
wieder einschalten.
