Introduction
6Cochlear Aqua+ User Guide
Introduction
The Cochlear™ Aqua+ are re-usable sealable covers that, when
used with the Cochlear™ Nucleus® 8 Aqua+ Coil, keep your
Nucleus 8 Sound Processor (model number: CP1110) dry during
use in or around water (e.g. when swimming or in the bath). It is
worn behind the ear with your sound processor sealed inside.
The Nucleus 8 Aqua+ should only be used by recipients who can
either remove the sound processor themselves if it’s causing
discomfort or who can indicate any discomfort to their parent or
caregiver.
The Nucleus 8 Aqua+ comes in two sizes:
ꞏCochlear Aqua+, Power Extend, to t the Cochlear Power
Extend Battery Module
ꞏCochlear Aqua+, Compact, to t the Cochlear Compact
Battery Module
You must use a Cochlear Power Extend Battery Module or
Cochlear Compact Battery Module for your sound processor
to work inside Aqua+ Zinc air batteries will not work as they
need air and there is no air inside Aqua+ when it is sealed.
The Cochlear Nucleus 8 Aqua+ Coil is used in place of your usual
coil while your sound processor is inside your Aqua+. It has a
special plug that creates a seal when connected to your sound
processor’s coil socket through the coil plug hole in Aqua+. As
with your usual coil, a coil magnet screws into the Aqua+ coil
and holds it against your implant.
Note
You cannot use your Nucleus 8 Sound Processor in Hybrid™ mode
with Aqua+.
You cannot use your Nucleus 8 Sound Processor with any of the
Cochlear retention accessories (e.g. Snugt, Hugt) with Aqua+.

Cochlear Aqua+ User Guide 7
Introduction
The Nucleus Mic Lock-Stirrup is a retention option to hold Aqua+
more securely behind your ear. The stirrup connects to the base
of Aqua+ and the Mic Lock tube (when cut to size) passes under
the ear lobe and connects to the Aqua+ earhook.
The Nucleus Safety Line is a retention option to help prevent
accidental loss of your Aqua+ by securing it to your clothing with
a snap-lock clip.
While using Aqua+ you can also use the following, provided they
are protected from water and kept dry:
ꞏYour smartphone (with the Nucleus Smart App)
ꞏCochlear CR310 Remote Control
ꞏCochlear wireless accessories.
You may notice a dierence in sound quality when using Aqua+.
Testing shows Aqua+ can be:
ꞏUsed at depths of up to 3 metres for up to 2 hours.
ꞏRe-used up to 50 times, but this may vary according to
how you use it.
There have been no reported undesirable side eects from
