Safety
• Theproduct may be used by children aged 8 years and above and by persons
with reduced physical, sensory or mental capability or lack of experience and
knowledge provided they have been given supervision or instruction concerning
use of theproduct in asafe way and understand thehazards involved.
• Never let children play with theproduct.
• Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without adult
supervision.
• If themains lead is damaged in any way it must be replaced by aqualified
electrician.
• Unplug theproduct from thepower point once thecharging has been completed.
• Unplug theproduct and store it in adry, dust-free environment out of children’s
reach whenever it is not inuse.
• Theproduct must only be connected to astandard domestic 100–240V, 50/60Hz
electrical supply.
• Theproduct must only be used as described in this instruction manual.
• Do not subject theproduct to impacts or shocks and do not expose it to extremely
hot, cold or dusty environments. Neverimmerse theproduct in water or other liquid.
• Theproduct is intended for indoor useonly.
• Never try to open thehousing or modify theproduct in anyway.
• Only use model ABP118CL and ABP118L4 18 V lithium-ion batteries.
Thebattery voltage must match thevoltage of thecharger. Ifthewrong type
of battery is charged there is arisk of fire or explosion.
• Do not cover or block theventilation openings of theproduct. Theproduct
may overheat which may pose afirerisk.
• Inspect theproduct, mains lead and plug before eachuse. Donot use
theproduct if it, its mains lead or plug are damaged in anyway.
• Ensure that thehousing of theproduct is keptclean. Wipetheproduct clean
with adry cloth and vacuum clean when needed. Dirtcan cause electric shocks.
• All repairs must be carried out by qualified service technicians using genuine
spareparts. Adamaged charger, mains lead or plug will increase therisk of
electricshock.

Operating instructions
Charging the battery
Temperature range for charging and storing thebattery: 5–40 °C.
1. Plug thecharger into awall socket
(100–240 V AC, 50/60 Hz). Thepower
indicator (2) will be lit asolid green
when thecharger is connected to
themains.
2. Insert thebattery into thecharger.
3. Thecharging indicator (3) shines red
when charging is in progress.
4. Thecharging indicator (3) goes out
and thefull-charge indicator (2) shines
green when thebattery is fully charged.
5. Remove thebattery from thecharger
once it has been fully charged.
6. Unplug thecharger from thewall
socket when it is not inuse.
Charging error indications
• Thered LED flashes: Defective battery, change thebattery.
• Thegreen LED flashes: Battery too hot or cold to charge. Letbattery reach normal
room temperature before charging.
Battery charge status indicators
Press in thebutton on thebattery to check its charge status. Ifall thegreen lights
come on thebattery is fully charged. Ifonly one green indicator comes on, thebattery
is discharged and needs to be charged before you can use thebattery with a cordless
powertool.
Care and maintenance
• Unplug themains lead from thewall socket before cleaning.
• Wipe thecharger clean with adry cloth and vacuum clean when needed.
• If thecharger is not to be used for anextended period, it should be unplugged and
stored in adry and dust-free location out of reach of children.
