Snelstart handleiding
Hartelijk gefeliciteerd met de aanschaf van uw
Conceptronic Snapport Firewire PC-Card.
In de bijgaande Snelstart handleiding wordt stap voor stap uitgelegd hoe u de
Conceptronic SP1394C installeert op uw Notebook of PC. Ingeval van problemen
adviseren wij u onzesupport-site te bezoeken (ga naar: www.conceptronic.neten
klik op ‘support/2-Tech’). Hier vindt u hoogstwaarschijnlijk de oplossing voor uw
probleem.

•Duidelijke probleemomschrijving
•Versienummer van de drivers die u gebruikt (controleer altijd de Conceptronic
website of u de laatste versie gebruikt).
•Type Notebook of computer systeem dat u gebruikt.
•Operating systeem dat u gebruikt.

mogelijk dat onderstaande installatie iets afwijkt van de installatie op uw computer.
Dit is afhankelijk van de Windows versie die u gebruikt.
1. Minimum systeemvereisten
! De minimum systeem vereisten gelden voor de installatie en functionaliteit van de
Firewire Cardbus PC Card. Het is mogelijk dat de genoemde systeemvereisten te
laag zijn voor bijvoorbeeld Video capturing doeleinden.
•Pentium II 266 MHz
•32 MB Ram (64 MB aanbevolen)
•80 MB vrije ruimte op uw harde schijf

•Cardbus PC Cardslot
•Een cd-romstation
•Een monitor met een resolutie van 800 x 600, hoge kleuren/ware kleuren
•Windows 98 SE / Windows 2000 / Windows ME / Windows XP
2. De kaart installeren
In het pakket vindt u de volgende onderdelen:
•Een IEEE1394 PC Card
•Een IEEE1394 kabeladapter
•Een 6 pins–4 pins 1394 kabel
•Eén licentieformulier met twee serienummers en een cd-rom met ‘Ulead’s
VideoStudio’ software voor het weergeven en bewerken van video-opnamen.
•Software CD-ROM met Ulead VideoStudio 4.0 SE
3. Hardware
Het is mogelijk dat u een extra voedingsadapter nodig heeft wanneer een apparaat
meer voeding nodig heeft dan de Firewire PC Card biedt. Als uw aangesloten
apparaat externe voeding nodig heeft, kunt u de optionele voedingsdapater voor de
Firewire PC Card met code A1394C aanschaffen via uw dealer
4. Software installatie
4.1 Installatie onder Windows 98 SE
1. Start uw computer op en doe de IEEE 1394 PC Card in het CardBus PCMCIA
slot. Verbind de IEEE 1394 kabel met de PC Card. Windows detecteert de kaart
automatisch en er verschijnt een dialoogvenster waarin te lezen is: ‘Texas
Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller’. Klik op ‘Volgende’
(‘Next’).
2. Selecteer ‘Zoeken naar het beste stuurprogramma voor dit apparaat
(Aanbevolen)’ (‘Search for the best driver for your device. (Recommended)’), en
klik op ‘Volgende’ (‘Next’) om het Windows stuurprogramma te zoeken.
3. Hier selecteert u geen optie. Klik op ‘Volgende’ (‘Next’) om te bevestigen dat
Windows het stuurprogramma gevonden heeft.
4. Windowsvindthet‘Bijgewerktestuurprogramma(Aanbevolen)(‘UpdatedDriver
(Recommended)’): Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host

Controller.’ Klik op ‘Volgende’ (‘Next’).
5. Windows vindt de Texas Instrument OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller.
Klik op ‘Volgende’ (‘Next’).
6. Waarschijnlijk vraagt Windows u de Windows cd-rom in uw computer te doen.
Klik op ‘Volgende’ (‘Next’) .
7. Volg de instructies en geef de locatie van de cd-rom op, bijvoorbeeld ‘D:\Win98’
als ‘D:’ uw cd-rom station is.
8. Windows installeert de IEEE 1394 PC Card. Na de installatie zal er een
dialoogvenster verschijnen met de tekst: ‘De installatie van de software is
voltooid’ (‘Windows has finished installing the software’) Klik op ‘Voltooien’
(‘Finish’) en start uw computer opnieuw op.
9. De IEEE 1394 PC Card is nu gereed om verbinding te maken met een extern
IEEE 1394 apparaat.

10. Om te controleren of de installatie gelukt is, gaat u naar: ‘Deze computer’ (‘My
Computer’) –‘Configuratiescherm ’ (‘Control Panel’) te -‘Systeem’ (‘System’ -
‘Apparaatbeheer’ (‘Device Manager’). Als de ‘IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers /
TexasInstrumentsOHCICompliantIEEE1394PCHostController’erbijstaat,is
de installatie gelukt.
4.2 Installatie onder Windows 2000
1. Start uw computer op en doe de IEEE 1394 PC Card in het CardBusPCMCIA
slot. Verbind de IEEE 1394 kabel met de PC Card. Windows detecteert de kaart
automatisch en de IEEE 1394 PC Card wordt geïnstalleerd.
2. Na de installatie moet u uw computer opnieuw opstarten om het
stuurprogramma te activeren.
3. De IEEE 1394 PC Card is nu gereed om verbinding te maken met een extern
IEEE 1394 apparaat.

4.3 Installatie onder Windows ME
1. Start uw computer op en doe de IEEE 1394 PC Card in het CardBus
PCMCIA slot. Verbind de IEEE 1394 kabel met de PC card. Windows detecteert
de kaart automatisch en de IEEE 1394 PC Card wordt geïnstalleerd.
2. Na de installatie moet u uw computer opnieuw opstarten om het
stuurprogramma te activeren.
3. De IEEE 1394 PC Card is nu gereed om verbinding te maken met een extern
IEEE 1394 apparaat.

4.4 Installatie van de VideoStudio Software
Doe de cd-rom in het cd-rom station. Klik op ‘Installeren’ (‘Install’). Kies een taal en
klik op vervolgens op ‘Ja’ (‘Yes’) en ‘Volgende’ (‘Next’). U kunt alleen bewerkte
beelden op uw camera vervangen wanneer uw camera over een
1394/DV/iLink/FireWire ingang beschikt (zie de handleiding of raadpleeg de
leverancier van uw camera).
Het is mogelijk dat sommige camera’s problemen met de weergavekwaliteit geven.
Als u last heeft van deze problemen, ga dan naar de Conceptronic website
(http://www.conceptronic.net) en ga dan naar 2Tech voor informatie over nieuwe
stuurprogramma’s. Voor andere informatie over Ulead Software kunt u de
handleiding op de cd-rom raadplegen. Kies ‘Tutorial’ of ‘Read me’ voor meer
informatie over de toepassingen van de software.
5. Problemen onder Windows 98 / 2000 / ME
Als u problemen hebt met de weergavekwaliteit raden wij u aan niet het standaard

stuurprogramma te gebruiken maar een nieuwere versie die u kunt downloaden op
onze website.
6. Extern apparaat installeren
1. Verbind het externe apparaat met de IEEE1394 kabel adapter, en verbind als
dat nodig is het externe 1394 apparaat met een energiebron.
2. Windows installeert het stuurprogramma automatisch. Plaats uw originele
Windows cd-rom in uw cd-rom station en klik op ‘Volgende’ (‘Next’).
3. NadatWindows het apparaat heeft herkend, klikt u op ‘Voltooien’ (‘Finish’).
4. Installeer het Ulead programma terwijl uw IEEE 1394 Video apparaat
aangesloten en geïnstalleerd is.
5. De IEEE 1394 is nu klaar voor gebruik.
Opmerking
DeCardBusIEEE1394PCCardondersteuntgeenPCMCIAHotSwapping.Daarom
moet u de kaart stoppen voordat u hem uit het PCMCIA slot haalt. Als u de kaart er
uit hebt gehaald, moet u uw systeem opnieuw opstarten voordat u de kaart weer in
uw computer doet.

Conceptronic external SnapPort Firewire PC-Card.
The enclosed Hardware Installation Guide gives you a step by step explanation of
how to install the Conceptronic SP1394C on your Notebook/PC.When problems
occur, we advise you to go to our support-site (go towww.conceptronic.net and
click ‘support/2-Tech’). Here you will find a lot of possibilities to solve your problems.
In order to provide the requested support we need the following details from you:
•A clear description of the problem;
•Version number of the drivers you are using (always check the Conceptronic
website to see wether you are using the latest version);
•Type of Notebook/PC youare using;
•Operating system you are using

The Software installation as described below, may be slightly different from the
installation on your computer. This depends on the Windows version you are using.
1. Minimum System Requirements
! The minimum system requirements are valid for the installation and functionality of
the Firewire Cardbus PC Card. It might be possible, that the mentioned system
requirements are too low for ie. Video capturing purposes.
•Pentium II 266 MHz
•32MB Ram (64 recommended)
•Cardbus PC Card slot
•CD-ROM player
•Windows 98SE / Windows 2000 / Windows XP / Windows ME
2. To install the card
In the package, you will find following:
•One IEEE 1394 PC Card

•One license form with two serial numbers (for Ulead VideoStudio 4.0 SE).
•Software CDROM with Ulead VideoStudio 4.0 SE
3. Hardware
Itispossiblethatyouneedanextrapoweradapterwhenadeviceneedsmorepower
than supplied by the Firewire PC Card. When your connected device needs external
power, you can purchase the optional power adapter for the Firewire PC Card with
code DYNA1394C via your dealer.
4. Software Installation
4.1 Installation for Windows 98SE
1. Start up your laptop PC and insert the IEEE 1394 PC card into the CardBus
PCMCIA slot. Connect the IEEE 1394 cable to the PC card. Windows will
automatically detect the card and a dialogue box will appear, reading, ‘Texas
Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller’. Click ‘Next’.
2. Select ‘Search for the best driver for your device. (Recommended)’, and click
‘Next’ to search for the Windows generic driver.
3. Do not select an option here and click ‘Next” to confirm the driver found by
Windows.
4. Windows finds the ‘Updated Driver (Recommended)’ Texas Instruments OHCI
Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller. Click ‘Next’.
5. Windows will find the Texas Instrument OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host
Controller. Click on ‘Next’.
6. Windows may request you to ‘Insert Windows CD-ROM into the driver selected.
Click ‘OK’.
7. Follow this instruction and inputCD-ROM location, e.g. ‘D:\Win98’ assuming
‘D:’ is your CD-ROM drive.

8. Windows will install the IEEE 1394 PC Card. After installation, the
dialogue box “Windows has finished installing the software” will appear. Click
“Finish” and reboot your laptop PC.
9. Now the IEEE 1394 PC Card is ready to connect to an external IEEE 1394
device.
10. You can check if the installation is OK by going to ‘My computer’ –‘Control
Panel ’-‘System’ –‘Device Manager’.

4.2 Installation under Windows 2000 and XP
1. Start up your laptop PC and insert the IEEE 1394 PC card into the CardBus
PCMCIA slot. Connect the IEEE 1394 cable to the PC card. Windows will
automatically detect the card and install the IEEE 1394 PC card by itself.
2. When the installation is completed, reboot your laptop PC to activate the driver.
3. Now the IEEE 1394 PC Card is ready to connect to an external IEEE 1394
device.
4. You can check if the installation is OK by going to ‘My computer’ –‘Settings’ -
‘Control Panel’ -‘System’ –‘Hardware’ -‘Device Manager’. For XP go to: ‘My
computer’ –‘Control Panel’ -‘System’ –‘Hardware’ -‘Device Manager’. If you
see the “IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers / Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant
IEEE 1394 PC Host Controller” here, the card is installed succesfully.
4.3 Installation under Windows ME
1. Start up your laptop PC and insert the 1394 PC card into the CardBus PCMCIA
slot. Connect the IEEE 1394 cable to the PC card. Windows will automatically
detect the card and install the IEEE 1394 PC card by itself.

2. After installation reboot your laptop PC to activate the driver.
3. Now the 1394 Card is ready to connect to an external IEEE1394 device.
4. You can check if the installation is OK by going to ‘My computer’ –‘Control
Panel’-‘System’–‘Device Manager’. If you see the “IEEE 1394 Bus Controller /
Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 PC Host Controller” here, the
card is installedsuccesfully.
4.4 Installing the Ulead videostudio software
Put the CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive. Click ‘Install’. Choose your language and
continue all steps by clicking ‘Yes’ and ‘Next’.
When you want tot replace edited visuals into your camera, your camera needs to
support the so-called ‘DV-in’ ‘I-link’ or ‘FireWire’ function. Contact the installation
guide or supplier of your camera if your camera supports this function.
It is possible that some cameras give picture problems. When you have these
problems, check the Conceptronic site www.conceptronic.net and choose the
‘2Tech’ option for an explanation of the new drivers.
For other information of Ulead software you can consult the manual of Ulead on the
CD-ROM. Choose ‘Tutorial’ or ‘Read me’ to know more about all applications of the
software.

5. Troubleshooting Windows 98/ 2000/ ME
If you have picture problems under Ulead Software we strongly recommend you not
to use the default driver but an update which is available at our website.
6. External device installation
1. Connect external device to IEEE1394 cable adapter, and then connect the 1394
external device to a power source if necessary.
2. Windows will automatically install the driver. Insert your original Windows
CD-ROM into the CD-ROM driver, and click “Next”.
3. After Windows has recognized the device, click “Finish”.
4. Install Ulead application software while your IEEE 1394 Video device is
connected and installed.
5. Now the external IEEE 1394 device is ready to use.
Notes
The CardBus IEEE 1394 PC Card does not support PCMCIA Hot Swapping.
Therefore, you must disable the card before extracting it from the PCMCIA slot.
Once the card is extracted, you must reboot your system before again inserting the
card into your notebook PC.

La instalación de software, tal y como se describe a continuación, puede ser
algo diferente de la instalación en su ordenador. Eso depende de la versión de
Windows que esté usando.
1. Requisitos mínimos de sistema
! Los requisitos mínimos de sistema son válidos para la instalación y la

3. Hardware
Es posible que necesite un adaptador de alimentación complementario
cuando un dispositivo necesite más energía que la suministrada por la tarjeta
de PC Firewire. Si su dispositivo conectado necesita alimentación externa,
puede comprar un adaptador de energía opcional para la tarjeta de PC
Firewire con el código DYNA1394C mediante su distribuidor.
4. Instalación de software
4.1 Instalación para Windows 98SE
1. Inicie su ordenador portátil e introduzca la tarjeta de PC IEEE 1394 en la
ranura PCMCIA para el bus de tarjeta. Conecte el cable IEEE 1394 a la
tarjeta de PC. Windows detectará automáticamente la tarjeta y aparecerá
una ventana de diálogo en la que se puede leer “Texas Instruments OHCI

3. No seleccione aquí ninguna opción; haga clic en “Siguiente” para

4. Windows busca el “Controlador actualizado (Recomendado)” de Texas
Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller. Haga clic en

5. Windows busca el “Controlador actualizado (Recomendado)” de Texas
Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller. Haga clic en
“Siguiente”.
6. Windows Puede pedirle que introduzca el CD-ROM de Windows en la
unidad seleccionada. Haga clic en “Aceptar”.
7. Siga esta instrucción e introduzca la ubicación del CD-ROM, es decir,
“D:\Win98”, suponiendo que “D:” es su unidad de CD-ROM.
8. Windows instalará la tarjeta de PC IEEE 1394. Después de la instalación,

4.2 Instalación en Windows 2000 y XP
1. Inicie su ordenador portátil e introduzca la tarjeta de PC IEEE 1394 en la
ranura PCMCIA para el bus de tarjeta. Conecte el cable IEEE 1394 a la
tarjetadePC.Windowsdetectaráautomáticamentelatarjetaeinstalarála

3. Ahora, la tarjeta de PC IEEE 1394 está lista para conectarse a un

4. Compruebe que la instalación se haya llevado a cabo correctamente:
vaya a “Mi PC” –“Configuración” -“Panel de control” –“Sistema” –
“Hardware” –“Administrador de dispositivos”. Para XP, vaya a: “Mi PC” –
“Panel de control” –“Sistema” –“Hardware” –“Administrador de
dispositivos”. Si aquí ve el “IEEE 1394 Bus Host controllers / Texas
Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 PC Host Controller”, eso quiere
decir que la tarjeta se ha instalado correctamente.
4.3 Instalación en Windows ME
1. Inicie su ordenador portátil e introduzca la tarjeta de PC 1394 en la ranura
PCMCIA para el bus de tarjeta. Conecte el cable IEEE 1394 a la tarjeta de
PC.Windowsdetectaráautomáticamentelatarjetaeinstalarálatarjetade
PC IEEE 1394.
2. Después de la instalación, reinicie su ordenador portátil para activar el
controlador.

3. Ahora, la tarjeta 1394 está lista para conectarse a un dispositivo IEEE
1394 externo.
4. Compruebe que la instalación se haya llevado a cabo correctamente:
vaya a “Mi PC” –“Panel de control” –“Sistema” –“Administrador de
dispositivos”. Si aquí ve el “IEEE 1394 Bus Controller / Texas Instruments
OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 PC Host Controller”, eso quiere decir que la
tarjeta se ha instalado correctamente.
4.4 Instalación del programa Ulead VideoStudio
Ponga el CD-ROM en la unidad de CD-ROM. Haga clic en “Instalar”.
Seleccione su idioma y prosiga haciendo clic en “Sí” y “Siguiente” en cada
paso.
Si quiere sustituir los gráficos editados en su cámara, su cámara debe ser
compatibleconlafunciónllamada“DV-in”“I-link”o“FireWire”.Consultelaguía
de instalación o póngase en contacto con el distribuidor de su cámara para
saber si su cámara escompatible con esta función.
Es posible que algunas cámaras presenten problemas gráficos. Si se
encuentra con estos problemas, consulte el sitio de Conceptronic

(www.conceptronic.net) y seleccione la opción “2Tech” para una explicación
de los nuevos controladores.
Para más información sobre el programa Ulead, consulte el manual de Ulead
que viene en el CD-ROM. Seleccione “Tutorial” o “Léame” para saber más
sobre todas las aplicaciones del programa.
5. Solución de problemas en Windows 98 / 2000 / ME
Si tiene problemas gráficos con el programa Ulead, le recomendamos
encarecidamente que no utilice el controlador predeterminado sino una
actualización que está disponible en nuestro sitio web.
6. Instalación de dispositivo externo
1. Conecte un dispositivo externo al adaptador de cable IEEE 1394 y luego
conecte el dispositivo externo 1394 a una fuente de alimentación si es
necesario.
2. Windows instalará automáticamente el controlador. Introduzca el
CD-ROM de Windows en la unidad de CD-ROM y haga clic en
“Siguiente”.
3. Después de que Windows haya reconocido el dispositivo, haga clic en
“Finalizar”.
4. Instale el software de aplicación Ulead mientras el dispositivo de vídeo
IEEE 1394 esté conectado e instalado.
5. Ahora ya puede utilizar el dispositivo externo IEEE 1394.
Notas
La tarjeta de PC IEEE 1394 para bus de tarjeta no es compatible con el
intercambio dinámico PCMCIA. Por tanto, debe desactivar la tarjeta antes de
extraerladelaranuraPCMCIA. Cuandohayaextraídolatarjeta,debereiniciar
su sistema antes de volver a insertar la tarjeta en su ordenador portátil.
