Prodigy Media System
Introduction
Welcome to your Prodigy system. When configured, your Prodigy system is
capable of controlling your home theater as well as lighting and climate
throughout your home/office using a variety of control devices.
The Prodigy System
Prodigy offers simplified control of your home and entertainment from any
room in your house or any place on the planet. Keep all your music, movies,
lights, thermostats and security at your fingertips wherever you are and
wherever you go. You are always in touch and in control with Prodigy. Just a
simple tap of your finger brings you comfort, convenience and pleasure.

Prodigy Interfaces
PLX2 Prodigy™ Wireless Remote
The Prodigy Wireless Remote (PLX2) is a handheld remote with an LCD
display that is used to control a Prodigy system. A PLX2 is included with the
system. Up to six PLX2 remotes can be used in a Prodigy system.
Soft Buttons & Display Controls
The display is surrounded by 10 “soft” buttons that are programmed to
perform the function shown on the display. Underneath the display are three
buttons that are used to navigate the display.

Menu Controls
The menu controls are located beneath the display controls and are used to
navigate functions such as a DVD menu or DVR channel guide.
Volume, Transport, and Numeric Keypad Buttons
Under the menu controls are buttons to control the volume, media playback
(DVD, DVR, etc.), and digit entry (for Tuner/DVR/Satellite and other devices
using input from a numeric keypad).
PTL4 Prodigy™ 3.6” Wall Mount Touchpanel
The Prodigy 3.6” Wall Mount Touchpanel (PTL4) is an optional wall-mounted
color touchscreen that is used to control a Prodigy system. Up to six PTL4
touchpanels can be used in a Prodigy system.
The touchscreen is surrounded by 10 backlit function buttons. Labels
describing the function of each button are engraved on the included bezel.
Touchscreen Navigation
The 3.6” color touchscreen provides information and control for devices in
the Prodigy system.
The touchscreen consists of various “pages” used to control the specific
functions of your Prodigy system. The top of each page in the touchscreen
contains controls to directly access the home page, the media page, lighting
controls, and climate controls.

The functions that are displayed on the touchscreen are determined by the
selected function. For details, refer to “System Control” starting on page 7.
Function Buttons
Ten backlit function buttons surround the touchscreen. Buttons to control
theater components are on the left side of the touchscreen while buttons to
control lighting (for systems with lighting control only) are located on the right
side of the touchscreen.
The following describes the function(s) of each of the buttons:
POWER: Press the POWER button to turn off the media devices in
the room.

MEDIA: Press the MEDIA button to display the media page.
MUTE: Press the MUTE the audio output in the controlled room.
VOL k:Press the VOL kto raise the audio volume in the room.
VOL j:Press the VOL jto lower the audio volume in the room.
LIGHTS ON: Press the LIGHTS ON button to turn on the lights in the
room (for systems with lighting control only).
LIGHTS OFF: Press the LIGHTS OFF button to turn off the lights in
the room (for systems with lighting control only).
RAISE: Press the RAISE button to raise the lighting level in the room
(for rooms with dimmable controlled lighting only).
LOWER: Press the LOWER button to lower the lighting level in the
room (for rooms with dimmable controlled lighting only).
CLIMATE: Press to display the room’s climate controls.

P-DIMRF Prodigy™ Single Button Wireless Dimmer
and P-SWRF Prodigy™ Single Button Wireless
Switch
The Prodigy Single Button Wireless Dimmer (P-DIMRF) and Single Button
Wireless Switch (P-SWRF) are optional switches that are used for local
control of lights in a Prodigy system. Up to 18 switches/dimmers can be used
in a Prodigy system.
The P-DIMRF and P-SWRF have a light emitting diode (LED), a rocker
button, and a three-position mode selection switch. The button may be
pushed at the top or bottom to perform certain functions. The function of the
rocker button is determined by the position of the mode selection switch. For
details, refer to “System Control” starting on page 7.
P-CBD Prodigy™ Wireless Keypad
The Prodigy Wireless Keypad (P-CBD) is used in conjunction with a
Prodigy Single Button Wireless Dimmer (P-DIMRF) and Single Button
Wireless Switch (P-SWRF) to provide 3-way lighting control. Up to six P-CBD
keypads can be used in a Prodigy system.

The two-button model is for switching with the P-SWRF in a lighting
application while the four-button model is for dimming with the P-DIMRF in a
dimming/lighting application. For details, refer to “System Control” starting on
page 7.
P-TSTATRF Prodigy™ Wireless Thermostat
The Prodigy™ Wireless Thermostat (P-TSTATRF) is used to control HVAC
functions in a Prodigy system. It functions the same as a traditional

thermostat while allowing for control by a Prodigy system. Up to three
P-TSTATRF thermostats can be used in a Prodigy system.

Crestron®Control App™
The Crestron Control App allows an Apple®iPhone™ or iPod®Touch to
control the Prodigy system. The Prodigy system allows one iPhone to be
connected at a time.
Crestron XPanel
The Crestron XPanel allows remote control of the Prodigy System from a
remote PC over the internet. The Prodigy system allows one remote PC to
be connected.

Theater Control
Theater functions such as controlling a TV, projector, DVD player, DVR, etc.
can be controlled by the PLX2, a PTL4 (if installed), the Crestron Control App
(if using an iPhone for control), or a Crestron XPanel project (if using a PC
for control).
Power Control
The last selected source can be turned on or off with the power control.
NOTE: If a source is active in another zone (i.e. the iPod source is on in the
theater and the second audio zone), using the power control will only affect
the audio output in the controlled zone.
PLX2 To turn the last selected source on or off, press .
PTL4 (if equipped) To turn the last selected source on or off, press POWER or touch .

View the Media page
PLX2 1. Press HOME to display the home page and press the soft button
labeled Media to display the media list. A list of devices/functions will
be displayed. Receiver functions (i.e. built-in tuner) are listed on the
bottom of the display.
NOTE: If your receiver has two zone outputs, the Rooms soft button
will be displayed. Press the soft button labeled Rooms to choose the
zone to be controlled. For more information, refer to “Room
Selection (if equipped)” on page 12.

3. To scroll through the list of sources, press or .
4. Press the soft button next to a source name to control it. To control
the tuner, press the soft button labeled Tuner.
When using the PLX2 to control a theater device, the VOL buttons
(up and down) will always control the system volume while the
MUTE button will control the mute function. Other buttons on the
remote are only operational when relevant to the selected function.
PTL4 (if equipped) Press MEDIA or touch to display the media page. A list of devices will
be displayed. Receiver functions (i.e. built-in tuner) are listed on the bottom
of the touchscreen.
NOTE: If your receiver has two zone outputs, the ROOM SELECT button
will be displayed. Touch ROOM SELECT to choose the zone to be
controlled. For more information, refer to “Room Selection (if equipped)” on
page 12.

Touch a source name to display its controls. To control the tuner, touch
TUNER.

Click a source name or receiver function to display its controls. To control the
tuner, click TUNER.
The , , and buttons will always control the mute function and
the volume in the selected room.
Room Selection (if equipped)
Your Prodigy system may be configured to control two zones of audio (the
theater room and another room). To select a room to control:
PLX2 1. From the media page, press the soft button labeled Room to display
a list of rooms controlled by the Prodigy system.

Watch TV (if equipped)
PLX2 1. From the media page, press the soft button for the cable or satellite
receiver to set the PLX2 for control of a cable or satellite receiver in
the Prodigy system.
Cable/Satellite Control (DirectTV shown)
2. Use the menu controls and the numeric keypad buttons to operate
the cable or satellite receiver. If your receiver is equipped with a
DVR, use the transport and menu control to control DVR functions.
To view a list of preset channels, press the soft button labeled
Presets.
PTL4 (if equipped) From the media page, touch the button for the cable or satellite receiver to
display its controls. If the receiver is equipped with a DVR, transport controls
will be displayed as well.

• Touch PRESETS to recall and/or store preset stations.
To recall a preset station, touch the preset.⇒
⇒ To store a preset station:
1. Touch and hold the preset location to be stored for
approximately five seconds.
2. If desired, touch on a channel icon to be displayed in the list
of presets. The default channel name and number will be
displayed when an icon is selected.
Scroll through the list of available icons by touching the kor
jbuttons.
To clear an icon, touch CLEAR IMAGE.
3. Touch EDIT CHANNEL to change the channel number.

Touch the new channel number and click ENTER.
4. To assign a custom name to the preset, touch EDIT NAME
to display the custom name controls.
Touch the name of the preset and click ENTER.
5. Touch DONE to save the preset.
• Touch KEYPAD to directly access a channel with a numeric keypad.

• From the media page, touch the button for the cable or satellite
receiver to display its controls. If the receiver is equipped with a
DVR, transport controls will be displayed as well.
