6.3. Electrical connections
The wiring of the LPS centralised power unit is on the top of the same.
6.3.1. Power connection
Connect the power supply to terminals L, N and earth (PE).
6.3.2.Output circuits (OUT1, ..., OUT6)
The LPS system has six output circuits for monitoring the luminaires (ELC, “beacons”,
non-communicating). These outputs must be pre-configured, see 8.2.4. Configuring the
outputs
Each circuit supports a maximum output of 4 A of constant current with intelligent
protection against over-consumption and/or short circuit. Caution: check that the total
load does not exceed the system output power. See 5. Technical data.
!
Check the compatibility of each luminaire connected to an
output circuit configured as “beacons”, as not all beacons allow
such functionality.
!
The ELC luminaires are not compatible with outlets configured
as “beacon”.
!
On the outputs defined as beacons, it is recommended not to adjust
the load over 3A (75% of the maximum 4A) to avoid possible over-
consumption on tests.
If low voltage (MBTS) is used to wire the luminaires there is no need for protection by
ground wire cable (PE). Observe the maximum lengths depending on the cable section
specified in A. Cable length
The luminaires are connected to the + and - terminals, which are duplicated in the
centralised power unit; i.e. it has two outputs for each circuit. To configure the luminaires
see 8.2.4.2. Luminaires

Switching on (on activation of the input) or off (on deactivating the
input) the circuits associated to the auxiliary input when connected to
power. Valid for circuits configured in “not connected” or “beacons”
mode. This configuration takes precedence over the permanent/non-
permanent circuit configuration.
6.3.3.1 Remote fault connection to one LPS24 device
To switch on all the luminaires in case of remote network failure, the “AUX” (auxiliary
inputs) must be connected to the DR-3 “NO” (normally open) contact (three-phase power
detector). The DR-3 must be connected in serial form as shown in the image below to
monitor more than one remote fault:

www.daisalux.com
14
LPS24 –USER MANUAL
6.3.3.2 Remote fault connection to several LPS24 devices
Another possible configuration would be that of several remote faults associated with an
LPS system, which through a dry output pre-configured into the next device in the
auxiliary input, this in turn would pass to the next LPS system, thus a remote fault would
be associated in series to several LPS systems.
The optional contact-free potential must be programmed according to the instruction, see
8.2.3.2. Relay configuration.
6.3.4. Dry contacts (CLP1, ..., CLP4)
There are four dry contacts, three of them fixed according to the EN 50171 standard and
the fourth configurable by the user.

6.3.5. Input 0…10V
The device has an input that enables brightness control (dimming) of one or more
outputs configured as “beacons”. With this feature, the brightness of each circuit
configured as “beacons” can be changed between 10-90% of the nominal.
The dimming can be performed through the display by selecting the percentage desired
by circuit or by this 0..10V input, which is controlled by an analogue signal from 0 to 10V
or potentiometer (30KΩ), the latter is not linear.
Regulation by analogue signal
Regulation by potentiometer
6.3.6. Remote control (TELEM)
The device has a remote input for connecting a Daisalux remote control. This input
provides a remote control for the device so that it can be restarted when in standby or
set to standby when there is a power failure at its input.

6.3.7. LPSLan
Connect the Ethernet cable to the optional LPSLan module if the latter is installed.
The status of the centralised power unit and LPS system can be monitored by using the
same.
The status of the luminaires is displayed graphically by the corresponding software
(LPSWeb –web browser, WinCB–LPS or Daisatest Evac system control software).
For further information see 10.1 LPSLan/LPSWeb
7. Switching on the LPS centralised power unit
Follow these steps in order:
Disconnect battery fuses.
Perform all connections of the centralised power unit.
Check that the polarity in the battery connections are correct.
Insert battery fuses.
Activate the main power supply.
Before performing any operating test, make sure to charge the batteries for at least 24
hours.
Configure the circuit according to the desired load (ELC luminaires, beacons, non-
communicating). By default configured in non-communicating mode.
Perform a test on the circuits to check the loads on the circuits.
Zoning the ELC luminaires.
See quick installation guide: LPS24-26 LPS24-65
7.1. Switching off the LPS centralised power unit
Take the following steps in this order to switch off the LPS centralised power unit:
Remove the main power supply.
Place the LPS centralised power unit in standby mode (there are two modes).
Centralised power unit on standby
-Through the display: 8.2.5.1 Actions
-Using the remote control: 6.3.6 Remote control
Removing the battery fuse is recommended before moving the
centralised power unit once it is switched off.

LPS24 –USER MANUAL
7.2. Switching on the LPS centralised power unit
To switch on the LPS centralised power unit two situations may
occur depending on the initial status:
from standby 6.3.6 remote control Restarting the centralised
power unit
from power off:
When the centralised power unit starts operating, the system’s
synoptic display will be shown. All parameters required for use
must now be configured (see 8). Use of the centralised power unit
7.2.1 Circuit test
The device continuously monitors consumption in each of the output circuits. If at any
time the consumption in a circuit exceeds the set fault threshold, a fault will be indicated
in the circuit.
The luminaires connected to the circuit must be checked as a circuit overload can lead to
a malfunction of the luminaires.
Once the over-consumption fault has been corrected (redistribution of luminaires to other
circuits, switching off luminaires, etc.) run a circuit test to correct the fault, see 8.2.5.1
Actions
!
When performing a test on the circuit, the battery must be
disconnected from the system and the emergency lighting system will
not be available; therefore it must only be performed when failure of
the emergency lighting system does not pose any hazard.
7.2.2 ELC luminaires zoning
If the system supplies ELC luminaires, zoning will need to be run in order to determine
the luminaires’ physical connection to the output circuits, see 8.2.5.1 Actions
!
During the execution of a zoning system, the luminaires will switch off,
but the lighting system will remain active and therefore must only be
run when the inhibition of permanent luminaires is not a danger.
During the zoning, all the luminaires are switched off and sequentially lit assigning them
to the area that corresponds depending on the circuit in which they are connected.
The process takes around 15 minutes. Once the process is complete the system returns
to normal operation.
If there is a power supply fault during zoning, the process will end and the system will
switch on all connected luminaires.
Zoning must be performed during start-up or whenever a new ELC
series luminaire is connected to the device (replacements or
extensions) or whenever luminaires are moved from one circuit to
another.
