Validity
This documentation applies to the audio and video recorder DMX 2400. It has been produced on basis of software
version 7.3.5 SP P.

Only use this unit if it is technically in proper working order, to the intended purpose and while keeping safety and potential dan-
gers in mind.
Qualified Personnel
Installation, mounting, connection, commissioning and configuration of the unit may only be carried out by qualified person-
nel. This also applies to the maintenance, testing and repair, whereat the regulations of the DIN VDE 0701 series of standards
(repair, modification and inspection of electrical appliances) must be followed.
Regulations
The use of video and audio surveillance systems in general is strictly regulated. Inform yourself about the applicable laws and
regulations regarding data, working and environmental protection before using the unit and ensure compliance with them.
System Components
Only use internal components that have been tested and approved by Dallmeier. Inappropriate internal components can
cause malfunctions, damages and data loss and can result in loss of warranty.
RAID System
Devices that are configured with a RAID system for redundant recording always must be supplied with power via an uninter-
ruptible power supply (UPS). A sudden voltage drop can damage the RAID system.
Modifications
Do not make any modifications to the hardware or software that has not been tested and approved by Dallmeier. Inappropri-
ate modifications can cause malfunctions, damages and data loss and can result in loss of warranty.
Documentation
Carefully and completely read the documents included in delivery. Always observe the contained instructions, notes and
warnings.
Condensation Water
If the unit is brought from a cold to a warm environment, resulting condensation water can cause malfunctions and damages.
In this case wait (up to 8 hours) until the unit has reached room temperature before commissioning.
Operating Conditions
Unfavourable operating conditions can shorten the life of the unit and can cause malfunctions, damages and data loss and
can result in loss of warranty. Observe the specifications given in the technical data, the operating condition requirements
and the maintenance instructions.
Shocks
Shocks can cause malfunctions and damages. The unit may not be moved while in operation.
Foreign Objects
If objects or liquids get into the unit, immediately disconnect it from the power supply (pull out the power plug). Contact the
sales partner responsible for your area.
Burnt Smell
If you notice burnt smell or formation of smoke from the unit, immediately disconnect it from the power supply (pull out the
power plug). Contact the sales partner responsible for your area.
Opening
The housing of the unit may only be opened by qualified personnel for inspection, maintenance and repair.
Disposal
Disconnect the unit from the power supply. Remove all connected devices. Return the unit to your respective sales partner.

HDD Mounting

► Ensure that the HDD drawer unit and housing are flush.
► Lock the HDD drawer unit with the key.
► For the mounting of further HDDs proceed as described.
The mounted hard disk drives will be initilized and commissioned
with the start of the recorder.
►Ensure that the recorder is disconnected from the
power supply.
► Unlock the HDD drawer unit with the key.
► Pull the HDD drawer unit carefully out of the housing.
► Remove the cover which is mounted in the HDD drawer unit.
► Insert the HDD drawer unit into the guide rails.
►Slide the HDD drawer unit carefully and completely into
the housing.
► Please pay attention that you do not cant.
►Do not use force.
Requirements
Recorders that have been ordered with hard disk drive can directly be mounted, connected and commissioned.
Recorders that have been ordered without hard disk drive must be equipped with four 3.5" hard disk drives (Raid 6) at least.
Note that all mounted hard disk drives
must be tested and released for mounting by Dallmeier (HDD whitelist in the Partner Forum)!
may not be formatted or partitioned!
may not be used in another Smatrix device already!
Depending on the number and the properties (capacity, new or used) of the mounted hard disk drives, various messages and
dialogues are displayed during the first start and the initialization.
► Confirm the messages, if required.
► Observe the instructions given in the dialogues.
► Note the appropriate Configuration documentation.
► Load the Default System Parameters as first step of the configuration.
IMPORTANT ADVICE
Mounting
The hard disks should be mounted in a row , starting with the slot for HDD1 (left, lower).
► Place the HDD drawer unit on the HDD’s underside.
► Ensure that the connections of the HDD are positioned
at the rear side of the HDD drawer unit.
►Ensure that HDD and HDD drawer unit flush at the rear
side.
► Mount the HDD drawer unit with 4 screws on the
HDD.

Mounting
Ambient Conditions
Unfavourable ambient conditions can shorten the life of the unit and cause malfunctions or damages. Do not mount the
recorder at places with:
large scale of dust and dirt
steam or oil vapours (e.g. kitchen)
unsuitable ambient temperatures
insufficient ventilation (e.g. closed cabinet)
direct sunlight
sources of strong heat dissipation (e.g. radiator)
sources of strong radiation (e.g. radio transmitter, magnetic field)
corrosive surrounding (e.g. gas, salt water)
►Align the installation rails according to the depth of
the rack.
►Please attend to a correct alignment of the
installation rails (guidance on rear side).
►Fasten the installation rails.
► Mount the 19’’ holders each with 2 screws at the
rear side of the rack.
► Ensure that the guidances show to the internal side.
► Ensure proper ambient conditions.
► Exclusively use the 19’’ installation rails provided by
Dallmeier.
►Shorten the installation guidances (predetermined
breaking point) according to the depth of the 19’’
rack if necessary.
Mounting
The recorder is designed for mounting and commissioning in a 19’’ standard rack (3 HU). With the adjustment and connection
of the provided installation rails it is suitable for 19’’ racks with a depth of 60 up to 120 cm.

► Insert the recorder with the installation rails into
the guidances.
► Insert the recorder completely into the rack.
► Ensure 10 cm of free space at the front and rear
side.
► Mount the recorder with 4 screws at the front side
of the rack.
► Connect the recorder as described on the following pages.
► Commission the recorder as described on the following pages.

Local Login
►Observe the appropriate Configuration documentation.
►Click Later to login without changing a password.
The graphical configuration interface of the recorder is displayed.
Login
In the initial state it is possible to login without password. The rights of the Administrator group are valid.
Note that the definition of the passwords and the network parameters is necessary for remote access (e. g. PView 7).
►Left-click the background.
The Recorder login dialogue is displayed.
Commissioning
► Connect the recorder and relevant peripherals to the voltage supply.
► Ensure that the VGA monitor and a mouse are connected to the recorder.
► Switch on the VGA monitor, the peripherals and the recorder.
The recorder is available for local configuration after the start (up to approx. 5 minutes). The background image of the
graphical configuration interface is displayed.

Remote Login
Commissioning
►Connect the device to the network.
►Connect the device and relevant peripherals to the voltage supply.
►Switch on the peripherals and the recorder.
The recorder is available for remote configuration via Ethernet after the start (up to approx. 5 minutes).
The IP address of the device (default 192.168.2.230) can be changed without login using the software PService.

Login
In the initial state it is possible to login remotely using the serial number as password. The rights of the Administrator group
are valid.
Note that the definition of the passwords and the network parameters is necessary for remote access (e. g. PView 7).
►Observe the PService documentations.
►Start the software PService and execute a scan of the network.
►Find the relevant recorder in the displayed list.
►Start the NetConfig application via the corresponding context menu.
►Observe the appropriate Configuration documentation.
The connection will be established.
Device information is displayed.
The password input field is displayed.
►Enter the serial number (e.g. DAX2-12345678) as Password.
►Confirm with Login.
The configuration interface is displayed.
The configuration interface is compressed for slow network connections before transmission if the Slow Network check-box is
activated.
