4 SafetyInstrucons
Only use the device if it is technically in proper working condion and for
the intended purpose while keeping safety and potenal dangers in mind.
QualiedPersonnel
The installaon, mounng, connecon, commissioning and conguraon
of the device may only be carried out by qualied personnel.
This also applies to the maintenance, tesng and repair, whereby the
regulaons of the DIN VDE 0701 series of standards (repair, modicaon
and inspecon of electrical appliances) must be followed.
Regulaons
The use of video and audio surveillance systems is, in general, strictly
regulated.
Inform yourself about the currently valid laws and regulaons regarding
data, worker and environmental protecon before using the device and
ensure compliance with them.
System Components
Only use internal components that have been tested and approved by
Dallmeier.
Inappropriate internal components may cause malfuncons, damages
and data loss and may result in the loss of warranty.
Modicaons
Do not make any modicaons to the hardware or soware that have not
been tested and approved by Dallmeier.

CondensaonWater
If the device is brought from a cold to a warm environment, resulng con-
densaon water may cause malfuncons and damages.
In this case, wait (up to 8 hours) unl the device has reached room tem-
perature before commissioning.
Earthing&EquipotenalBonding
For the safety of persons (protecon against dangerous contact voltages)
and devices (protecon against over-voltages) as well as for the immunity
of informaon and communicaon technology equipment to electromag-
nec interferences (EMI), all protecve measures, which are specied
by the currently valid DIN, VDE and ISO standards and which provide for
a standard-compliant earthing and a correct equipotenal bonding of
electrical and electronic devices, are mandatory and must be fullled by
all means.
Lightning Storms
To avoid damage to the device by electrical surge during lightning storms,
all protecve measures, which are specied by the currently valid DIN,
VDE and ISO standards and which provide for a standard-compliant
lightning protecon equipotenal bonding, are mandatory and must be
fullled by all means.

OperangCondions
Unfavorable operang condions may shorten the life of the device and
may cause malfuncons, damages and data loss and may result in the
loss of warranty.
Observe the specicaons given in the technical data, the operang con-
dion requirements and the maintenance instrucons.
Shocks
Shocks can cause malfuncons and damages. The unit must not be
moved during operaon.
ForeignBodies
If objects or liquids get into the device, immediately disconnect it from
the power supply (pull out the power plug).
Contact the sales partner responsible for your area.
BurntSmell
If you noce burnt smell or a formaon of smoke coming from the
device, immediately disconnect it from the power supply (pull out the
power plug).
Contact the sales partner responsible for your area.
Opening
The device may only be opened by qualied personnel for commission-
ing, inspecon, maintenance and repair.
Disposal
Do not dispose waste electrical and electronic equipment into the house-
hold trash. Disconnect the device from the power supply. Remove all
connected devices. Return the device to your respecve sales partner.

• 1× Power cord (IEC 60320 C-13 connector to European plug)

• 1× Documentaons (printed and on DVD-ROM)

TransportaonandPackaging
Store the original packaging for later transportaon.
Dallmeier is not responsible for any damage resulng from unprofession-
al/improper transportaon.
The device should only be shipped in the original packaging.
If the original packaging is no longer available, ensure that the used pack-
aging suciently protects the device against damage, moisture, heat and
cold.
Warranty
The terms and condions valid at me the contract was signed shall apply.
AppropriateUse
The VideoNetBox III appliance combines the proven recording soware
SMAVIA Recording Server with a compact, fanless and energy ecient
server hardware.
Perfectly tuned components ensure excellent passive cooling and allow
for the recording of up to 16 high-denion video streams at a frame rate
of 30 fps.
This appliance is therefore ideally suited for video security systems in
shops, petrol staons or private houses, which require the highest re-
cording quality and minimum space without any noise development.

6 Requirements
Ambientcondions
Unfavourable ambient condions may shorten the lifeme of the product
and may cause malfuncons or damages.
Do not operate the appliance in places with:
• a large amount of dust and dirt
• steam or oil vapours (e.g. kitchen)
• unsuitable ambient temperatures
• insucient venlaon (e.g. closed cabinet)
• direct sunlight
• sources of strong heat dissipaon (e.g. radiator)
• sources of strong radiaon (e.g. radio transmier, magnec eld)
• corrosive surroundings (e.g. gas, salt water)
Stand-aloneoperaon
The appliance is designed for stand-alone operaon. It can usually be
set up and operated at any place that meets the above requirements. In
addion, observe the following requirements and notes:
Computer room
This appliance is not suitable for use in a computer room, as dened in
the US re protecon regulaon “Standard for Protecon of Electronic
Computer/Data Processing Equipment, ANSI/NFPA 75”.
Secured room
Risk of manipulaon and sabotage. A stand-alone installaon should only
be operated in secured rooms with restricted access.
Socketoutlet
The used socket outlet has to be installed near the appliance. It has to be
easily accessible.

SecureEarthing
➡Ensure a proper grounding at all mes, preferably by grounding the
rack directly.
PowerSupply
➡Operate the device with 100/240 V AC, 50/60 Hz.
➡Use an uninterrupble power supply (UPS) to protect the device from
voltage spikes and to keep it in operaon in case of power failure.
NOTICE

The plug of the supply line serves as a separator from the supply cir-
cuit.
➡Use an outlet installed close to the device.
➡Make sure the outlet is easily accessible.

8 Installaon
The installaon of the device on a suitable surface may only be carried
out by qualied personnel.
NOTICE
Riskofdamages
➡Ensure that sucient air circulaon is provided at the place of
installaon for proper cooling of the appliance.
Inially, the mounng brackets have to be aached to the device.
➡Put the appliance top-down on a nonslip surface.
➡Ax the mounng bracket using the supplied mounng screws and
the corresponding drillings.

➡Fix the power supply unit to the appropriate mounng bracket using
the velcro straps, if necessary.
