4 SafetyInstrucons
Only use the device if it is technically in proper working condion and for
the intended purpose while keeping safety and potenal dangers in mind.
QualiedPersonnel
The installaon, mounng, connecon, commissioning and conguraon
of the device may only be carried out by qualied personnel.
This also applies to the maintenance, tesng and repair, whereby the
regulaons of the DIN VDE 0701 series of standards (repair, modicaon
and inspecon of electrical appliances) must be followed.
Regulaons
The use of video and audio surveillance systems is, in general, strictly
regulated.
Inform yourself about the currently valid laws and regulaons regarding
data, worker and environmental protecon before using the device and
ensure compliance with them.
System Components
Only use internal components that have been tested and approved by
Dallmeier.
Inappropriate internal components may cause malfuncons, damages
and data loss and may result in the loss of warranty.
Modicaons
Do not make any modicaons to the hardware or soware that have not
been tested and approved by Dallmeier.

CondensaonWater
If the device is brought from a cold to a warm environment, resulng con-
densaon water may cause malfuncons and damages.
In this case, wait (up to 8 hours) unl the device has reached room tem-
perature before commissioning.
Earthing&EquipotenalBonding
For the safety of persons (protecon against dangerous contact voltages)
and devices (protecon against over-voltages) as well as for the immunity
of informaon and communicaon technology equipment to electromag-
nec interferences (EMI), all protecve measures, which are specied
by the currently valid DIN, VDE and ISO standards and which provide for
a standard-compliant earthing and a correct equipotenal bonding of
electrical and electronic devices, are mandatory and must be fullled by
all means.
Lightning Storms
To avoid damage to the device by electrical surge during lightning storms,
all protecve measures, which are specied by the currently valid DIN,
VDE and ISO standards and which provide for a standard-compliant
lightning protecon equipotenal bonding, are mandatory and must be
fullled by all means.

OperangCondions
Unfavorable operang condions may shorten the life of the device and
may cause malfuncons, damages and data loss and may result in the
loss of warranty.
Observe the specicaons given in the technical data, the operang con-
dion requirements and the maintenance instrucons.
Shocks
Shocks can cause malfuncons and damages. The unit must not be
moved during operaon.
ForeignBodies
If objects or liquids get into the device, immediately disconnect it from
the power supply (pull out the power plug).
Contact the sales partner responsible for your area.
BurntSmell
If you noce burnt smell or a formaon of smoke coming from the
device, immediately disconnect it from the power supply (pull out the
power plug).
Contact the sales partner responsible for your area.
Opening
The device may only be opened by qualied personnel for commission-
ing, inspecon, maintenance and repair.
Disposal
Do not dispose waste electrical and electronic equipment into the house-
hold trash. Disconnect the device from the power supply. Remove all
connected devices. Return the device to your respecve sales partner.

• 2× Pair keys for HDD tray cam lock
• 1× Power supply unit
• 1× Power cord (IEC 60320 C-13 connector to European plug)
• 1× Weidmüller plug-in connector B2L 3.50
• 1× Documentaons (printed and on DVD-ROM)
The scope of delivery may dier depending on the ordered equip-
ment, device variant or country of desnaon.

TransportaonandPackaging
Store the original packaging for later transportaon.
Dallmeier is not responsible for any damage resulng from unprofession-
al/improper transportaon.
The device should only be shipped in the original packaging.
If the original packaging is no longer available, ensure that the used pack-
aging suciently protects the device against damage, moisture, heat and
cold.
Warranty
The terms and condions valid at me the contract was signed shall apply.
AppropriateUse
The VideoNetBox III appliance combines the proven recording soware
SMAVIA Recording Server with a compact, fanless and energy ecient
server hardware.
Perfectly tuned components ensure excellent passive cooling and allow
for the recording of up to 16 high-denion video streams at a frame rate
of 30 fps.
This appliance is therefore ideally suited for video security systems in
shops, petrol staons or private houses, which require the highest re-
cording quality and minimum space without any noise development.

6 Requirements
Ambientcondions
Unfavourable ambient condions may shorten the lifeme of the product
and may cause malfuncons or damages.
Do not operate the appliance in places with:
• a large amount of dust and dirt
• steam or oil vapours (e.g. kitchen)
• unsuitable ambient temperatures
• insucient venlaon (e.g. closed cabinet)
• direct sunlight
• sources of strong heat dissipaon (e.g. radiator)
• sources of strong radiaon (e.g. radio transmier, magnec eld)
• corrosive surroundings (e.g. gas, salt water)
Stand-aloneoperaon
The appliance is designed for stand-alone operaon. It can usually be
set up and operated at any place that meets the above requirements. In
addion, observe the following requirements and notes:
Computer room
This appliance is not suitable for use in a computer room, as dened in
the US re protecon regulaon “Standard for Protecon of Electronic
Computer/Data Processing Equipment, ANSI/NFPA 75”.
Secured room
Risk of manipulaon and sabotage. A stand-alone installaon should only
be operated in secured rooms with restricted access.
Socketoutlet
The used socket outlet has to be installed near the appliance. It has to be
easily accessible.

SecureEarthing
➡Ensure a proper grounding at all mes, preferably by grounding the
rack directly.
PowerSupply
➡Operate the device with 100/240 V AC, 50/60 Hz.
➡Use an uninterrupble power supply (UPS) to protect the device from
voltage spikes and to keep it in operaon in case of power failure.
NOTICE

The plug of the supply line serves as a separator from the supply cir-
cuit.
➡Use an outlet installed close to the device.
➡Make sure the outlet is easily accessible.

8 Installaon
The installaon of the device on a suitable surface may only be carried
out by qualied personnel.
NOTICE
Riskofdamages
➡Ensure that sucient air circulaon is provided at the place of
installaon for proper cooling of the appliance.
Inially, the mounng brackets have to be aached to the device.
➡Put the appliance top-down on a nonslip surface.
➡Ax the mounng bracket using the supplied mounng screws and
the corresponding drillings.

➡Fix the power supply unit to the appropriate mounng bracket using
the velcro straps, if necessary.
