Dell PowerEdge M630p overview
The Dell PowerEdge M630p is a half-height server module supported on the PowerEdge M1000e and PowerEdge VRTX enclosure and
support up to:
• One or two Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 or E5-2600 v4 processors
• 24 DIMMs
• Single processor: Up to two 2.5-inch hard drives
• Single processor: Up to four 1.8-inch SSDs
• Dual processor: Up to two 2.5-inch hard drives
• Dual processor: Up to four 1.8-inch SSDs

A Green Turns green for a minimum of two seconds at the starting and end of a file transfer.
B Flashing green Indicates file transfer or any operation tasks.
C Green and turns off Indicates that the file transfer is complete.
D Not lit Indicates that the USB is ready to be removed or that a task is complete.
The following table describes iDRAC Direct activity when configuring iDRAC Direct by using your laptop and cable (Laptop Connect).

Using USB diskette or USB DVD or CD drives
The server module has USB ports on the front which allows you to connect a USB diskette drive, USB flash drive, USB DVD or CD drive,
keyboard, or mouse device. The USB drives can be used to configure the server module.
To designate the USB diskette drive as the boot drive:
1. Connect the USB drive
2. Restart the system
3. Enter System Setup
4. Set the drive as first in the boot sequence
The USB device is displayed in the Boot Order Setup screen only if it is attached to the system before you run the System Setup. You can
also select the boot device by pressing F11 during system start-up and selecting a boot device for the current boot sequence.
Hard drive or SSD indicator patterns
The hard drive or SSD (Solid-State Drives) indicators display different patterns as drive events occur in the system.
NOTE: The server module must have a hard drive or SSD or a hard drive blank installed in each drive bay.

function and remains off.

NOTE: The drive status indicator remains off until all hard
drives are initialized after the system is turned on. Drives are
not ready for insertion or removal during this time.

Flashes green for three seconds, amber for three seconds,
and turns off after six seconds

Locating service tag of your system
Your system is identified by a unique Express Service Code and Service Tag number. The Express Service Code is and Service Tag are
found on the front of the system by pulling out the information tag. Alternatively, the information may be on a sticker on the chassis of the
system. This information is used by Dell to route support calls to the appropriate personnel.

The PowerEdge M630p system supports up one or two Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 or E5-2600 v4 product family processors.
CAUTION: For processors of 105 W, 120 W, or 135 W, use heat sinks of 68 mm width.
CAUTION: For processors of 135 W (four cores, six cores, or eight cores) or 145 W, use heat sinks of 86 mm width.
NOTE: Mixing processors of different wattages is not supported.

Internal Dual SD Module
The PowerEdge M630p system supports two SD card slots and a USB interface dedicated for the embedded hypervisor. This card offers

• Single card operation — single card operation is supported, but without redundancy.

The PowerEdge M630p system supports Matrox G200 VGA controller integrated with iDRAC and 2 GB shared with iDRAC application

• When populating the server module slots in the PowerEdge VRTX enclosure with only PowerEdge M630 server modules:
○Install 86 mm width heat sink for processors of 120 W or more
○Install 68 mm width heat sink for processors of less than 120 W.
○If you install a blade with two processors in the M1000e enclosure, all blade slots in the enclosure must have PowerEdge M630
blades with the same configuration (PowerEdge M630 blades with two processors). However, vacant blade slots in the enclosure
can be installed with blade blanks.
